November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Main dining here as well (we were changed at my request).

Have to get a few things done for work tomorrow and then we can start packing. We have a small stack of items on the dining room table but that's it, yikes! It won't take us long though, we just need bathing suits and a couple of nice outfits for 6 people, piece of cake right?!?! lol...

We fly in Friday afternoon and are staying at the Radisson for the night, then takin' the shuttle to the boat in the morning (we're 11-11:30 embarking time).

Here in Colorado we are on blizzard warnings for tomorrow - we had a snow storm last Wednesday too (about 7" and lots of power outages and trees damaged with the heavy wet snow since many had all their leaves still), but this is supposed to be worse due to the wind and ice from colder temps. It's hard to believe it's coming since looking outside this afternoon we had blue skies. But it's coming they say. I keep thinking school could be cancelled if it's what they are predicting, but we'll see. By Thursday and Friday it should be clear and that's good, so we can get outta dodge. It'll be nice to escape the colder weather! Although, last night for Halloween, it was in the upper 60's. Crazy. I've experienced some EXTREMELY FREEZING Halloweens, but that was great for Trick or Treating yesterday. They say if you don't like the weather in Denver, wait 5 minutes, it'll change. Too true.

Feeling nervous and excited to start packing - I think I will start putting some of my piles into suitcases tonight. I cannot believe this trip is almost really here. YAY!!! :cheer2:

I think Karma came and kissed me. I've been checking twice a day for a Family Cabana on Castaway Cay. A month ago I posted when I found a Serenity Bay cabana ~ just in case anyone on our meet board needed one. I've been checking and checking and checking for a Family Cabana ever since.

Guess what!!!!!

Family Cabana #5 came open tonight and I SNAGGED it! WooHoo!:thumbsup2

If it was someone on this meet board, THANK YOU!!!! :worship:

question.... are jeans permitted in the formal dinner dining room for casual nights? I know pants are required, no shorts, but I thought I saw jeans were ok, but my Mom thought she saw no. So jeans ok or not ok? :confused3

My Mom said she was told the cabins have hair dryers. Those of you who have been before - is this true? Would be nice not to pack one if they do!!

Packing for this cruise is hard for some reason. It seems more difficult that on other trips. Hmmmm. I guess whatever I don't have, I can live without :cutie: Just want it to be time to go and then I can stop getting ready and just HAVE FUN!!!

Melissa

Kathy (LTR) - GREAT glow stick story! :rotfl2:

melissar112002 - Hang in there! Hopefully power will stay on and you'll have no trouble getting out of Colorado. The good news is you're definitely on track for a white Christmas :)

3 days!!!

That goodness for my baby,Alyssa-picking up the slack on planning this time-thanks a bunch:worship: spent part of today looking for pirate nite costume parts since other daughter lost my main piece.Hopefully tomorrow I will get a pedi and calm down so I can get excited about the trip.

Well, the nesting has officially set in! I'm up late, organizing everything in my house, making piles of things that need to be packed.... I just feel like I have all this energy and it's midnight! I'm so going to regret being up this late in the morning! This is my pre-vacation adrenaline setting in.... tomorrow is our last full day in our house! Thursday, we leave our house about 3 PM, and we have a couple things we need to do around town, and then we head to the airport where we are checking into an airport hotel, which is where we'll be celebrating Tyler's 11th birthday! The hotel is his birthday present. :) Then, we get up early and our plane leaves at 8:30 AM on Friday, and we should arrive in MCO at 5:30 PM Friday! :woohoo: I can't believe it!!

Looks like you'll be arriving to MCO just a little before us! Our checkin time at port on Saturday is 11:30! :woohoo: We are staying at the Hyatt MCO Friday night.

Hopefully the weather will get better so you can get out easily when you fly to MCO!! I have a lot of family who lives in Colorado, so I know all about the crazy weather there. One day it can be 70 degrees, and the next, it can be 25 degrees and snowing. And, yes, it does get SO cold! We were there for Thanksgiving a few years ago... it reminded me of Alaska!

That is GREAT news! Glad you got what you've been really hoping for!! Yay!

I think this depends on who you ask. So, if you are asking me, I say yes, they are permitted. I've read about this a ton on the main boards, and this seems to be a big debate, but this will be my 4th cruise, and I definitelyl see a lot of people wearing jeans on the casual nights... my DH wears jeans! I don't wear jeans, only because of the weather! I wear jeans pretty much every day here at home, because it's cold. So, when I'm in the Caribbean, I pretty much live in skirts or shorts, and since my shorts are not nice enough to wear to the dining rooms, I pretty much only wear casual skirts, but that is only because of the weather, and it's super easy to just throw on a skirt...I'm a simple person... so has nothing to do with "dressing up" for me.

So, I say as long as they aren't raggy jeans, it's totally fine to wear them on cruise casual nights!! But, that is my opinion both from experience and observation.

My Mom said she was told the cabins have hair dryers. Those of you who have been before - is this true? Would be nice not to pack one if they do!!

Yes, there are hair dryers in the cabins (in the bathrooms). If you are not at all picky about a hair dryer, they should work totally fine. But, if you are picky, or have thick hair that takes forever to dry, you MAY want to bring your own... the hair dryers are like vacuum cleaner tubes. I'm not picky at all about hair dryers, so they work for me, but every time I use them, I just feel like I'm holding up a vacuum cleaner to my head! :rotfl2: Anyway, they totally work fine!

So glad you don't have to make a conference call from the airport!!! That'd be a bummer! Hopefully you can not think about all the legal stuff with your dad on the cruise given you have the conference call after you get home.

Have fun getting your pedicure! Sounds like lots of ladies here will have very pretty toes on the ship!!

Hey, maybe I can squeeze some of that stuff that is inside those glow sticks on my toenails, and then my toes will glow in the dark in the evenings! Now, that'd be pretty cool!! :lmao: :lmao:

Happy Wednesday
We are still at second seating for dining.
Love the glow stick story... HAHA too funny.
We are all excited, can't wait! I think the most I worry about is crossing the boarder to the states and driving to the airport! I told Darcie we are going to leave extra early just in case we get lost or we will get a hassle over at the boarder.
Can't wait to get going and meet everyone!
Well better get some work done...
Tanya

YEAH - Power is back on at the schools. Kids are back to school today so we can begin some packing.

Surprising the kids is getting harder. They still do not know they are going away. So far so good.

Can't wait to hear the ship's horn on Saturday. Hopefully we board early and after lunch we will be poolside.

After all the planning and waiting it is here. I just need to get through a day at work, and then tonight make sure I haven't forgotten anything. I don't know if I will even be able to sleep tonight I'm so excited to get going. I hope everyone has safe travels and no flight delays.:goodvibes:yay::woohoo:

I need to go back and find Kathy's To Do List! I'm going crazy over here! I don't even know what i have left to do. Today I put the hold on my mail & emailed my DD's teacher. Last night we got out the suitcases and realized we do not know where the Garment Bag is and our large suitcase is broken. Guess I'll be packing even less than I thought. DH will be happy if I can't find the garment bag b/c then I won't bring his suit...maybe he hid it.

Today I have my mani/pedi appointment, YAY! But I also have to take the dog to the vet at 8:00 tonight, BOO! He cracked a toe nail last night and it's really inflamed, bleeding and soar. It sounds like he is going to have to have it all removed down to the pad. So not what we need right now, it's not a cheap surgery.

And my temp isn't working out so good. She is not catching on very quickly and it's really not that difficult. This is the first time I told the temp agency that I need a quick learner who can work independently and this is the first time that they have NOT sent that type of person. So I think I'm going to be cutting out tasks for her to do next week and I'm going to have to deal with it when I return.

BTW--I LOVE the Tower of Terror, it is my favorite ride of all the parks. DD loves it too, we went on it three times in a row last time we were there. I love that the drop sequence changes every time. And I HATE Mission Space! I will never ride on it again. DD loved that one too, but it made me feel so ill. I was praying for it to end.

We had late dining, got switched to early dining, and requested it to go back to late, which it did. I hope it didn't change again! Off to check!

According to Disney's dress code, jeans are permitted.

:thumbsup2

WooHoo!!! It's laundry day!! That's followed by packing day - which is followed by GET-AWAY DAY!!!! I just have to make it through 14 hours, 37 minutes and 52 seconds more of work between then and now (I'm working a half day on Friday)...

My Mom said she was told the cabins have hair dryers. Those of you who have been before - is this true? Would be nice not to pack one if they do!!

Melissa

Hi Melissa, they do have hair dryers, but unless they've changed since I was on the Magic two years ago, you may still want to bring one. I have super thick, absorbant hair and would usually give up long before it was dry. Also, it's the style of hair dryer that looks like the attachment to a vaccuum (the hose part), so I was always fighting with getting the right direction pointed at my hair... Probabably most people can handle them, but I can't. :confused3

Jeans are fine - you might want to bring slacks for formal night, but even that's not necessary.

Happy Wednesday All! One more full day of work and its off to the wonderful world of Disney. Got to cross off a few more things on my list! And tonight i should be down to only one thing left to do tomorrow: Go on Vacation!:banana::banana:
Just 1d and 3hrs until i'm leaving for the airport. Actually this is probably the first trip that i haven't been packing the night before we leave or the morning of, and i feel relaxed and excited!
Kathy LTR: Love the glo-stick story!
Daniellenbella: Hope your puppy feels better and doesn't cost you a fortune.
rob_jen: Good thing pixie dust is really powerful! Glad everything is working out.
So just in case anyone else needs some pixie dust
::tinker:
Feel free to sprinkle where needed! Have a great day.

Hope your dog will feel better :goodvibes
Hope the temp will catch on...

Alyssa : Thanks for the pixie dust! hahaha

Work is almost done and only a half day tomorrow...

Tanya

DH and DS may even do some shorts in the dining room. They will wear polo shirts with them so that may have to do. Especially the first night. We won't have time to change for dinner.

Hi everyone!

Just checking in to say hi. :)

Today has been super busy, but I had a small break, so had to check the boards!

Tomorrow we are leaving (our house) but we don't fly to Orlando until Friday morning. Oh, I can't wait!!!

In a couple hours, we are celebrating Tyler's 11th birthday with my parents, so I'm getting ready for that. Then, after my parents leave, the suitcases are coming out!!! My goal is to be totally packed tonight before I go to bed because tomorrow I am pretty booked solid during the whole day with different things, so I really had no time to pack tomorrow. So, I'm very excited!

Looks like half or more than half of the folks here are either already in Orlanda or in route to Orlando... We may be the last ones to actually leave our home town! Oh, I think Michael... you guys are flying Saturday, right?

Anyway, glad the winter storms around the East Coast, North East, and Mid-West are calming down and power is back on, schools are back in session, roads are cleared.... fingers crossed for NO bad weather for anyone who is traveling in the next couple days!! The weather is GREAT here in Seattle... it is cold, but really sunny! Super nice for us! And, the weather is looking really good for flying out on Friday, so we should have zero chance of any weather delays, and we have a direct flight, so once we are in the air, we won't have to worry about any connections, etc... just strait to MCO!

Ok everyone! I'm looking forward to meeting you all!

It's funny, but the last time I met people online and talked to them online for a long time before we met in person was when I was pregnant with my first child 11 years ago... Not sure if any of you know about the website called BabyCenter.com... well, I met some gals on BabyCenter on the public bullentin boards who were due with their first babies the exact same week I was due to have mine, so we chatted online all the way through our pregnancies, and then continued to chat for a year after our babies were born. We all lived in different states. Well, after our babies turned 1, and we were all still friends and still talked on email very often, we decided to all MEET in person for the first time ever! Well, by that time, one other girl had moved to Washington, so since two of us were in Washington, we decided to make Seattle our meeting spot, and it was 4 girls total. It was SO neat... the 4 of us met in person with our babies (who were by then toddlers, and all pretty much the same age), and we all spent the weekend together. One girl and her baby stayed at our house, which was really fun.

Anyway, it is 11 years later, and we all stiill talk all the time, and we've all gotten together at least 4 or 5 times in the past 11 years (now all of us have more than 1 child... so this week is a fun week because all 4 of our "babies" are turning 11 years old this week!!).

Anyway, so this is the 2nd time ever I've met people online and then plan to meet them in person. Should be fun!!!

Take care,
Kathy
