November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Thanks Kathy & Kathy!

I don't want to make a huge deal out of the lactose free thing. It's only milk that my DD has a problem with and I don't want to create an issue with yogurts, cheese, ice cream, etc. I'll have to give it some thought. I guess she would probably survive if she didn't have milk that week. Choc milk is usually OK for her too (something about the sugar in the chocolate helps break down the lactose enzymes), but not at every meal.

Don't worry, no need to tag me as the board drunk, I'm just curious ;) I tend to not drink in the sun anyway, gives me a headache.

Hi Danielle-

I just assumed you wanted a mimosa with breakfast! :thumbsup2 I know I'll probably have one, one morning!

Michelle

PS - thank you to all of those who have been sending the rain! it finally arrived in Dallas over the last several days! :cheer2:

Ok, here's a question of the day:

What is one thing you are most looking forward to doing on the cruise that is hard for you to find time to at home (ie, just being able to relax and read a book, working on a hobby... knitting, scrapbooking, photography, exercising, watching movies, taking naps, etc. etc.)

For me, it is a few things:

1) I love to exercise, but sometimes it gets SO busy here at home that I can't get a workout in, or I do get a workout in, but it's super rushed and not really what I had hoped to do. So, on the ship, I can't wait to just go run on Deck 4, and not feel rushed, and I won't feel like there just isn't time to get a run in or get to the fitness center to workout in some way. So, I plan to do some sort of exercise every day of the cruise (run or lift weights... or the elliptical...).

2) I enjoy reading, so I can't wait to just sit and read!!! I just rarely have time at home to just sit and read.

3) Of course, I'm super excited to spend quality time with my two boys and DH all together... just the 4 of us, but I'm REALLY looking forward to putting the kids in the kids club and DH and I having just time to just hang out at the adult pool together or in a lounge together, or Palo.... just having like a "date" every single day! We have babysitters we use at home, but we don't get out enough just by ourselves, so I'm looking forward to that!

That is totally what I thought, too!! Mimosas and Bloody Mary's and probably other drinks, are really common in the mornings... I love Mimosas, but my stomach doesn't do well with them in the morning.... so if I have a cocktail of some sort, the earliest I can tolerate it is like lunch time. But, I can't really drink that much, anyway, because I'm such a light weight, so if I have a cocktail during the day, I just have only one, and then I'll enjoy my wine in the evening. :)

Michelle, oh, you are just SO very welcome for the rain!! :lmao: We Pacific Northwesterners would gladly send you as much as you want! :) :) I think we have enough rain to share with the entire country, and then some! :rotfl: Actually, today (so far) is sunny and clear, but that is supposed to change by this afternoon evening. We are now at the time of year where it's rare to have a FULL day of no rain at all.... we'll probably get some rain each day, whether it's a small portion of the day, or the whole day. :sad2: Makes me even more excited for our cruise!!!!

Kathy

The great thing about a cruise is you don't have to go far to do whatever you want. I love being able to exercise and look out over the ocean, or just lay in a deck chair and read. You can dress up or be casual, eat light or go overboard (not literally, :rotfl:). It is all there for you to choose when you want, as much as you want. My DH and I love being able to relax and not have to check our messages, read emails, or watch the clock. It is an opportunity to reconnect and enjoy the ride. I can't believe it is almost here.:banana:

Happy Wednesday!

Well I would like to be able just to relex and not run around. Working two jobs and raising two kids on my own, I am just looking for a break and having fun and of course not making lunches!

Oh I think I will have a Mimosas when I am on the cruise... Had to look that up and I might just have to try it!

We just got rain here today, it is still warm out at 18. Just hoping no snow till after we leave on our cruise, I still have to get my snow tires on my car :)

Anyone have plans going on tonight? Kids activities or TV watching?
Tonight Meghan has tap then she is going to the church youth group I am organizing Apple Day for the cubs this weekend.

I have spent all of my day updating computers and iPads. I am exhausted and so now I will kill some time reading this forum. :)

Makes me long for the cruise.....

Love the kids, but I'm looking forward to hanging out with the wife in the evenings once they go to bed. No dogs, no MIL calling, no kids yelling at video games, just quiet time... In the past 4 1/2 years, I can, unfortunately, count on one hand how many times her and I have gone out by ourselves. I saw there's a couple of clubs/bars so that'll be fun to check out. We also got some sort of wine package so that'll be a nice way to wind down as well.

I am looking forward to no driving to get anywhere. Walk to the movies, walk to dinner, walk to the pool. Plus we almost never eat out so looking forward to eating out for a week.

I think just sitting and relaxing by the pool, on the verandah, in one of the lounges with my husband. We love our DD and DSil (and baby grandson) dearly and travel with them often, but we enjoy our alone time-and we love going to new places!

24 days! I think the next couple of weeks are going to fly by!

Glad i am not the only one who didn't know what a Mimosas is!

I am looking forward to everything that everyone else mentioned:thumbsup2

Oh yes, a mimosa sounds wonderful! That's a Christmas morning favorite at our house! :)

Don't know if anyone answered this yet, so here goes:

To post photos, go to photobucket.com and set-up a free account. Then, upload your photos. When you upload them, there will be a little drop-down menu with links in them. The last one is an IMG link; click on that and it will copy it to your clipboard. Then, come back to disboards and when you want to insert the photo, click on the "insert image" button on top (looks like a little mountain) and paste your link in there. Your photo should show up.

We got back from the cabin today after a short weekend visit, had a good time. There was some kind of race going on, so a lot of people were up there for that. Then, back home, mowed the acre of grass, weed whacked, blew, and now I'm pooped. Waiting to watch Dexter (DW's favorite show) and then probably to bed.

Thanks!!! I will give this a try. :)

OMG YES!!! I think I hate making lunches more than I hate making dinner. At least with dinner it's all one thing, but with lunch...UGH!

I am looking forward to having fun and having absolutely NOTHING to worry about.

I am looking forward to other people cleaning and cooking for me.

Also, my anniversary present came today!!

To answer question of the day.

I am looking forward to no chores, relaxing and spending 24 hours a day with DH. Looking forward to spending fun time with the kids. I look forward to seeing my mom and kids experience a cruise for the first time.

Hello everyone! My name is Michael and after seeing many pages of posts (wow!) it looks like I’m joining the discussion a bit late.

On 11-11-11 I’ll be celebrating my 40th birthday at sea with my wife, son (8) and daughter (10). This is our first cruise, and we are all really excited! Does anyone else on this message board have kids of similar ages?

We signed up for Palo one night and swimming with the dolphins in St. Thomas.

We’re flying in from Michigan the morning of the cruise, and if all goes well Delta will have us there in plenty of time.

If you have any tips or recommendations for us first timers… or any must do activities for kids ages 8 & 10, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone… take care!

- Michael

Welcome aboard Michael:yay:

I have a son who is also 8 and a daughter who is 11. There are a few others who have kids around the same age too!
