My wife saw me post that and said "There is no way you are wearing that on the cruise." So I guess not.....
Thats a nice photo. Its nice to finally see what you look like. You have a nice looking family.
Well I have seen all manner of dress on formal night but never a cap & gown. I bet you'd get some good stares

Are you maybe scottish and you could wear a kilt?

I have seen many kilts on formal night and military uniforms too.

I was wondering if you had mentioned that to her or not
We have a friend who swore to his wife he was wearing his favorite bright red tennis shoes on formal night because they matched his cumberbun on his tux. She said NO, he said YES and he actually brought them on the cruise and wore them around the ship some.
He didnt wear them on formal night but he sure had his wife worried about it for a few days.

This is one thing (out of many reasons) I love formal night! I love to see what everyone else is wearing... it's really fun, because you do see a lot of traditional clothing from other cultures, you do see Military dress uniforms, you see bright sparkly blingy outfits/dresses, you see super formal "black tie" outfits, you see more casual dress, you see women dressed up in princess outfits...
but one of my favorites I saw once was a guy wearing a tux jacket, with a black tie and cumberbun, then a pair of black shorts, a pair of black dress socks that came up to his knees (remember, he is wearing shorts), and his shoes were beige colored Birkenstocks (if you don't know what Birkenstocks are... they are basically sandals).

We were standing in line waiting to get into the restaurant, and this guy and his wife (assuming it was his wife/girlfriend...) were a few people in front of us, and boy, oh boy.... as people walked by him, you defintely could see eyebrows raise

, and the people behind us in line kept saying they could not believe this guy is getting away with this outfit. To us, we just thought it was funny, and we did not care one little bit he chose to dress that way! like I said, it just is fun to see how people like to define formal night.
But, I will say, I have never seen a cap and gown!!

I think that would be great!! You could have your wife and kids hum "pomp and circumstance" quietly (but loud enough so people around you guys can hear it) while you're waiting in line to get into the restaurant you're eating at that night.
Oh, and I agree with Kathy, you have a really nice looking family!!!! Great to see what you all look like. I'm enjoying seeing everyone before we actually all meet on the cruise. Oh, I can't believe that 1 month from tomorrow we fly out to Orlando!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care,
Kathy
