November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

We start pack stacks - stuff that we know needs to go but we won't use before the trip. I have a blue box in my room. Mom has a tub in her closet. Things get thrown in there until formal packing the night before the trip. (although I will complete my travel folder a couple of days before that - it has the confirmaiton numbers for hotels/cars/cruises, etc...)

Oh, I hope my travel agent gets our docs to us quickly! I'm so jealous of everyone that has theirs already!

My wife saw me post that and said "There is no way you are wearing that on the cruise." So I guess not.....

Gma Kathy: I know you have suggested to take a copy of your passport on the islands but what happens if you miss the ship? Do you know if they will accept the copy to get you over to the next stop?

I have read a few times on different boards that people who had emergencies used the copy and it helped to speed up their departure and they had no problems with proof of ID with that and they had their drivers license and ships ID on them.
I have also read on another cruise lines tips that the cruise line itself suggest having a photo copy on you when off the ship. So I just try to pass on what I felt to be an important tip for people.
Hopefully NOBODY will need to use it.:thumbsup2

Kathy

Different countries have different requirements for carrying your passport. Where we are going it is best to carry a copy and a drivers license. If you loose your whole passport it becomes easier for someone else (whoever finds it) to use it as their own. but they can't do that with a photocopy.

Also, you are more likely to loose your passport than miss the boat. (I hope). and you can still get back on the boat without a passport.

I know when I was in Germany, back in March, we had to carry our actual passport with us at all times as the police could ask us for it at any moment.

So, here is a picture of me and my family when I graduated. I may bring the cap and gown on the cruise....can I wear it on formal night?

Hopefully this works.http://www.flickr.com/photos/66351647@N02/6206299964/

Thats a nice photo. Its nice to finally see what you look like. You have a nice looking family.
Well I have seen all manner of dress on formal night but never a cap & gown. I bet you'd get some good stares:lmao:
Are you maybe scottish and you could wear a kilt?:rotfl2:
I have seen many kilts on formal night and military uniforms too.;)

My wife saw me post that and said "There is no way you are wearing that on the cruise." So I guess not.....

I was wondering if you had mentioned that to her or not;)

We have a friend who swore to his wife he was wearing his favorite bright red tennis shoes on formal night because they matched his cumberbun on his tux. She said NO, he said YES and he actually brought them on the cruise and wore them around the ship some.

He didnt wear them on formal night but he sure had his wife worried about it for a few days.:lmao:

This is one thing (out of many reasons) I love formal night! I love to see what everyone else is wearing... it's really fun, because you do see a lot of traditional clothing from other cultures, you do see Military dress uniforms, you see bright sparkly blingy outfits/dresses, you see super formal "black tie" outfits, you see more casual dress, you see women dressed up in princess outfits...

but one of my favorites I saw once was a guy wearing a tux jacket, with a black tie and cumberbun, then a pair of black shorts, a pair of black dress socks that came up to his knees (remember, he is wearing shorts), and his shoes were beige colored Birkenstocks (if you don't know what Birkenstocks are... they are basically sandals). :lmao: We were standing in line waiting to get into the restaurant, and this guy and his wife (assuming it was his wife/girlfriend...) were a few people in front of us, and boy, oh boy.... as people walked by him, you defintely could see eyebrows raise :lmao:, and the people behind us in line kept saying they could not believe this guy is getting away with this outfit. To us, we just thought it was funny, and we did not care one little bit he chose to dress that way! like I said, it just is fun to see how people like to define formal night. :)

But, I will say, I have never seen a cap and gown!! :lmao: I think that would be great!! You could have your wife and kids hum "pomp and circumstance" quietly (but loud enough so people around you guys can hear it) while you're waiting in line to get into the restaurant you're eating at that night. :rotfl2:

Oh, and I agree with Kathy, you have a really nice looking family!!!! Great to see what you all look like. I'm enjoying seeing everyone before we actually all meet on the cruise. Oh, I can't believe that 1 month from tomorrow we fly out to Orlando!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Take care,
Kathy

All right, we got our documents too! Seems everyone is getting psyched.

Tanya (flygrl), I noticed you and you sister are the same age. Are you twins? Plus I think you mentioned earlier they are in Switzerland or maybe Sweden (one of those Sw countries . . . ) how'd that happen? Was she originally Canadian or were you originally from Europe?

Kristi (NC2WDW) I was thinking maybe Peter and Kole could get together sometime before the cruise so they'd have someone to hang out with. PM us if you are interested, maybe we could meet at the Greensboro Science Center if that would be convenient or somewhere else.

Enjoy your weekend everyone,

Scott

Yup Darcie and I are twins... I am the good one...LOL Yes Darcie does live in Sweden she met a guy there and went there for three months and never retruned back to Canada... She married him/now divorced and has a son. She can not leave to come back due to Dennis and custody, though she loves it there been there I think 10 years now, she works for the American Embassy there is Sweden and is a Canadian, we all tease her about that. She misses home but we talk almost every day and she comes home once or twice a year. I have only been there once, I think our next trip might be to see her in Sweden.

Happy Monday Fun Day!

Just skimming through the post will have to go back and re read some of them. I am going to start packing shortly as it is getting cold here and no longer in need of shorts or sun dresses.

I was at my parents for the weekend with the kids (no internet there) we were celebrating our Thanksgiving. It is actually next weekend for us but my kids are with their dad so we have to celebrate it earlier or later... So we had our big turkey dinner and of course dessert. I always eat way too much at my parents house.

Well I am going to go pick up my tickets today at lunch time from the TA, are those my travel documents...

Also in the post earlier about the password for the kids club... I can't remember mines either... What are I too do?

thanks
Tanya

That is great that she has such a multi-cultural life!! :) I was trying to figure out if you guys were swedish (but you moved to Canada), or if you guys were Canadian, but Darcie moved to Sweden. :)

So, does her son Dennis speak Swedish as his first language, or English? I would imagine Swedish. I hear Sweden is very very beautiful!!! I would LOVE to visit there some day!!!

I bet you can't wait to see Darcie and Dennis on the ship.... it'll not only be a vacation for you guys, but a family reunion! How cool!

ATTENTION TO ALL DOING THE FE!!

I need to clarify one person listing for all of you.

You will notice under Kathleen's families names that Kathleen's children, Alex and Collin are listed in 2 cabins.
That is how Kathleen listed them for me.

She explained that one cabin is hers the other is her EX who is attending the wedding. So the kids will be with her and with him part of the time, so they are listed in both cabins.

Her Ex is participating in the FE and so is she. So if your giving a gift per cabin, both are entitled to a separate gift. If you giving something special to the kids then just choose one of the 2 cabins to leave it off and it will get to them.

I hope this clears it up for you. If you have a question please e-mail or PM me and I will try to explain it better.
Thank you,

Kathy

Just a quick jump on to say HELLO! Got home late on Saturday to find MY CRUISE DOCUMENTS! oh and DH who came up to see me too. I will throw some pics up tomorrow and I will catch up on all the posts, as there are about 4 piles of laundry, plus dishes and toys that must get sorted out and put away. I will give a full report on all the fun too. Lets just say the parents are already planning our next disney vacation. Super shout out to my sister for all her work and giving up her sleep to help us out. :cheer2: On a cruise note she finds out on Tuesday where she will be working, and we can finally find out if she can come or not. As a quick note i received two funny but wonderful complements from my boss which definatly describe me: The first was how she describes lyla(one of the girls singing): you sing like nanny, with a lot of heart! (note i may be a subpar singer but i give it everything!), Second was on figment when we entered figments house: Oh alyssa this must be your dream house. (she is quite right too) Either way expect a post of epic proportions tomorrow!

Hello Everybody!!!

Haha I start packing like a month in advance and then the night before the cruise I dump it all out and start again!!! I never know what to bring!!! But so excited!! This year I am going to use the interactive packing list from independant traveler! It will work I will make this list and not deviate!!!

So I started making my FE... my mother and I spent 3 hours in a fabric store to find the right print!!! Haha so much fun!!!

Curious is anyone here flying in from Canada as well?

I'll be back!
