November 5, 2016 - Disney Fantasy

Wonderful news! Congratulations and:welcome: aboard! The children will have a blast and you guys can actually get some "dates" in as well. When you have some time try to join the "Fish extender exchange". This will be our first time joining the FE exchange, but I hear children love it. Look for "mollyclairesmom" for more info on the FE.
Good luck!

I didn’t see a roll call, so thought I would start one! :wave2:

Lee, Michelline, Sydney (9)
Southern New Jersey (Mount Laurel)
2nd DCL, but 1st time on the Fantasy and 1st 7 day :yay:
Participating in FE and can’t wait to start
This is ‘Jersey Week’ for us, so interested how many others might be from the Garden State as well, but happy to make new friends from all over the world
Also interested in finding my daughter a friend to 'meet' before the cruise (maybe via facetime), so that she has some ready-to-go playmates at the kids club :-)

Hi Micki from Jersey!:D
Well, I just happen to have a 10 year old daughter that will be 11 in late July. I hope she's not too old for your girl. I Just happen to mention this post to her and she was thrilled of the prospect of having a playmate. I guess you can think about it and let me know later.:rolleyes1
Hope to hear from you soon!
Martha

We have 2 girls traveling with us 10(turns 11 during the cruise and 7), I am sure my girls would love to connect with some new friends prior to sailing!

@Martha Caraballo - That sounds great. Hope my Syd is not too young for your daughter - you can tell her that she will be 9 1/2 if that makes it better (haha). I will PM you soon and we can exchange some info. On our last cruise it worked out so perfectly. The lady who ran our FB group and some of the FEs groups had a daughter the same age. Their family coincidentally were our table mates. We also met another family via the FE who had a girl the same age and the 3 of them became pretty good pals - played at CC together and even did that Midship Detective Agency game together. My daughter is outgoing, but not the type to go to a kids club alone, so having some other girls there she already knew made it a lot easier. We even set up our Navigator apps so we could have them text each other on the ship and coordinate times to meet. I was thinking about organizing some type of M&G for those with girls the same age (8-11 ish).
It also worked out that the parents enjoyed eachother's company and while the kids were at the club we were at the bar, spa, comedy shows, mixology, etc... :rotfl:

November cannot come fast enough!

@Jbrooksy - I knew there would be lots of playmates for my gal - I will definitely see about organizing something, so they can 'meet' before and get more comfortable. So where are you from and is this your first DCL cruise?

BTW - looks like you're still 'Earning your Ears' - wasn't sure if you wanted to join the FE, but you can always post a bunch of replies on this board if you need to in order to it 10 so you can send a PM.

Hey Micki NJ! Yay! :yay: I'm so glad to hear that and so will my daughter! She is out going also but she tends to get a little shy around large crowds. Sydney is the perfect age for our daughter, my little girl is going be thrilled when we start doing some FaceTime. That M&G sounds great and so does the mixology, by the way!:teeth: I have a son who is 12 and going on 13 on November. It would be great to have some pals for him too. The bad news is that your going to have to show me how to set up our navigator apps for the kids because I am totally clueless on a lot of things that go on now, on these cruise ships.:scared: My husband and i took a disney cruise long before the kids came around and there was no FE groups then either. Anyways, I agree that November cannot come soon enough! Looking forward to you next post and Gods blessings to you and yours.

@Micki NJ I LOVE this idea! We have soon to be 8 year old who would love to know some other girls to play with in the clubs!

Anyone else have 2nd seating dinner? We usually do early dining, but decided to try something new this time. Molly does great at the table with us, but I'm sure she'd love to head to the club after she's done eating if she knew there would be friends there.

Great idea! Brandon, Katie, & Molly (7 now, 8 for cruise). This is our 4th DCL, but 1st to these ports. We're from the middle of nowhere near Asheville, NC.

Anyone interested in a private Mixology session? We have a group going and have room for about 16 more participants. Attached is a picture from our session on the Wonder last June... And yes, all 5 of those drinks are mine! (Included in session cost)

We are in second seating. We don't normally eat early anyway and grab a snack to tide us over until dinner. Also you don't have to get up at dawn on your last day for breakfast. We sent the kids off to the club 1/2 the time, but sometimes they preferred to just hang out with us. It was nice that they have a CM gather them all up, so you don't have to.

I will probably sign up for this - give me another few days. We did something on our last cruise - I think it was the general mixology and not one of the special ones like whiskey or chocolate/wine. Those 5 drinks back to back were enough to slow me down quite a bit - had to start sipping them towards the end :rotfl2:. This will be planned on one of the sea days, right?

your going to have to show me how to set up our navigator apps for the kids because I am totally clueless on a lot of things that go on now, on these cruise ships.:scared: My husband and i took a disney cruise long before the kids came around and there was no FE groups then either.

You can add the navigator app to your smart phone now. Until you are onboard it only really provides a cruise countdown. Once you get onboard you can log into the ship's wifi and the app will allow you to text message other guests (assuming you know their room numbers), view that day's navigator for activities and such, and provide a deck plans to find your way around. No data charges apply as long as you turn off your cell service. We had an old iPod we gave our daughter and she carried that with her at the kid's club so she could text us when she was done or when she wanted more time. It was nicer than having to carry around the wave phones.

As for FEs - they are more overwhelming the first time around. I think I gave way more thought to FEs that I really needed to. It was fun designing one - we ordered it on etsy. My daughter was so excited every day to get her little gifts and we had fun meandering around the ship making deliveries. It was actually quicker than we thought it would be - I printed out some deck plans and highlighted the rooms we had to deliver to, so it made them a little easier to find. It was also fun being able to see how others decorated their doors :) The only thing you really need to concern yourself with is packing it all. We made sure that the gift we gave were easy to pack and didn't take up too much room. Some folks sign up for multiple FE groups - I don't know how they do it - must bring an entire extra suitcase just for their FEs :)

Wow! Fantastic and thanks for the heads up! I am not as intimidated now, but a little apprehensive about the FE groups. Oh, I love Easy.com too! I gotta start figuring out what to give and consider age appropriateness of the gifts. We get some info on that right? Do you give something to the parents as well? We also have the 2nd seating and we are from San Diego, Ca.
Talk to u Soon! God's blessings!

I would be interested - I cannot justify the expense for just my family, but I wouldn't mind splitting it. Assuming there are any left, since I hear if you're not Concierge or Platinum there is no chance :confused3
