Hi, Kathy, :wave2:

Welcome again to the new folks!

Kathy, I hope it was a great trip! We haven't been on the Dream yet; what was it like? What did you think of the 3 night cruise? We see one in our future. ;)

Hi! For some reason its not letting me message you:confused3 But, that sounds great if you could send it to me, I will also let him know about it. Thanks!

Hi John!

Welcome to our cruise. I just sent you a PM with the FB link. We are very active over there. We tend to be quieter over here - but hopefully no one feels left out. If you do - please feel free to ask me what is going on, etc., and I'll be happy to answer. I know the rest of us will do so as well.

The Dream is very beautiful and the crew was awesome. If I hadnt been on the Fantasy first it would be my favorite ship!! Usually sister ships only have differences in color schemes and names of clubs but these two ships are very different in a few areas.
On my TR which I will post soon I will show photos of the differences.
One example is Satellite Falls in the adult area:

On the Dream is has like a bench around it to sit on. On the Fantasy it has water surrounding it where you can sit and relax and every few minutes a water fall of water will come down so you're sitting behind the water which is really fun.

Also in the same area on the Dream there is the usual plexi glass wall around the front of the ship and a few lounge chairs all out in the open sun and wind.

On the Fantasy they have an extra plexi glass wall to shield you from wind and sun with lots of loungers where you can sit out of the wind, rain or hot sun and watch the ocean go by. There are also places you can sit in the sun if you want to.

Then Aft on the Dream is a large open air bar called Waves. It goes all the way across the back of deck 12 up to the stairs on each side. Its really pretty and a very quiet area to sit but we only saw 1 customer there the entire cruise and we went by there many times and sat there for along period of time one evening.

On the Fantasy they moved this bar to the side where its barely visible and took away all the seats. Since it wasnt busy I understand why, plus in its place is a huge water play area with boats hanging from up high and buckets all spilling water down on the kids. It's themed for Donald Duck. This is an awesome place for kids too too old for Flounders reef but maybe cant swim in the pool yet or arnt comfortable in a crowded pool. It was always busy when we were there.

I think the changes all were improvements on the Fantasy. I liked it much better. There are a few more changes but those are the major ones.

Please dont think less of the Dream though. It was great and I am going on her again the end of this month.:goodvibes

We had a cat 4A room which is a large family verandah. It must have been 5 or 6 feet longer than a normal room. The desk had so many drawers and shelves we couldnt fill them all. It had the pull down bunk and a murphy bed in the wall by the sliding door. if you have 2 or 3 kids this is the category you want!! It had the small round tub/ shower. On one side of the tub is a seat with shelves ofr shampoo and soap. A mom could sit there and put her feet in the tub while bathing a young child and be so comfortable instead of sitting or knealing on the hard floor.
My feet were tired so I actually used it as a soaking tub for my feet. That was so nice!!!

Ok, now for the sad news for me. Sometime from friday before we cruised the following thursday( when we cruised) the price of the room we want went up almost $1,000.:scared1:

No way can we justify paying that much. Especially since we are buying a home in the next few weeks.

So we were left with a delima of trying to wait and hope when this cruise gets closer that they may have discounts on GTY rooms or Florida Resident rates or look for another time where they still have prices we feel good about..

There is a cruise on the Fantasy in October that is reasonable and in November on the Oasis of the Seas.

So we have been discussing it and decided it was too much of a chance to wait and hope for a last minute discount and maybe not get to cruise at all next fall.

We are not going to be cruising with all you great people now.:sad2:
But at least we should still get a cruise but it may not be Disney, or it may be a different month on Disney.

I hope maybe we can cruise together another time.:thumbsup2
Have a very Magical cruise everyone!!!

Kathy...I'm so sorry that you won't be joining us!! I hope you find another great cruise to sail and have wonderful cruise mates!! I'm sure we will see you around! I'm glad you enjoyed the Dream!

Haven't received our confirmation in the mail, but we're booked for this cruise. We being my DH & myself. This will be my 3rd Disney cruise and DH's second. I did a 3nights Bahamas on the Wonder in 2006 and we just did the 7night Mexican Riviera on the Wonder last November. As much as I love the Wonder, I'm ready for a new ship! DH and I did a Hawaii cruise on NCL in 2011, his first cruise ever and he loved it. He couldn't believe how I could find it wanting. Then he sailed the Wonder with me and finally understood and now no other cruise line compares. It helps that we're DVC members, so I know there'll be more Disney cruises in our future. I'm excited for the new ship and a chance to participate in an FE. Met a great couple on our MR cruise who told us all about this board & FE's. I haven't had a chance to read all the posts, so I'm hoping there's still room for us on the FE list(s)!

So sorry you won't be sailing with us Kathy...that price is certainly a bit of a sticker shock.:scared1:

:welcome: GenOfEve. We sailed on the Wonder once and loved it. This is our second sailing on the Fantasy and it's such a beautiful ship. The FE cut off date isn't until some time in September so there's no problem with you joining in.

Can't wait until November. Thinking of warm Caribbean seas as we're about to be hit with a blizzard this weekend. Not sure if I'm ready for 3 feet of snow!!!:scared1:Wish us luck.:goodvibes

Thanks everyone,

Looks like we found 2 Fantasy cruises in October that will work for us. Price is still ok. :cool1:

Have a great cruise everyone!!

Kathy,

I am so sorry to hear that you won't be cruising with us. I'm going to miss your daily updates on here. :( Maybe our paths will cross one day and we'll be on another cruise together. I hope you enjoy your upcoming Dream cruise.

Hi Everyone...I just stumbled across this thread. We will be sailing the Eastern Carrib to celebrate my twins turning 7 years old on Dec. 3rd. I'll be with my 3 young kids, hubby and my parents.

I never thought I'd ever do a cruise--normally hubby and I like more *quieter* type vacations but we love the virgin islands and my kids love Disney so we thought we would give it a try before they outgrew it.
