November 3, 2012 - Election Escape Eastern!!

Just switched our pre-cruise three day stay from SSR to BLT!!!! :cool1:

had to go for a 1-bedroom, but thats what the points are for...soooooo excited!!!!

Hi Shell, Steve, Diane, Jeff, and everyone else - we just switched to this cruise today (had Christmas one booked). Our school calendar came out today and I am off that week. Yippee! Couldn't resist cruising with you guys again!!!

Girls still know nothing about it (seems familiar, huh?)

Booked air today and room Friday night at Saratoga.

Are you flying to FL by the Midwest again Patty?

Oh my I have a lot of catching up to do! Sorry I haven't been around, I've been spending so much time on the main board absorbing all I can about the Fantasy! Also, I forgot to subscribe to this thread so I'm going to do that now. Hope to join in on the chat Apr 6!

A question for Jersey/SE PA folks--Has anyone booked flights yet? Any good deals? Last year we drove down to Baltimore and flew out of there. Saved several hundred $ even with the gas/tolls/parking and baggage fees! But so far this year, I'm not seeing the savings.

Those threads about the Fantasy are hard to get away from, aren't they?? I get hooked on them, too.

We're going to Jetty Park tomorrow for the Fantasy's inaugural send off! I can't wait!
:cool1: :yay:

Oh cool!!!!!!! Pictures?????????

Excerpt from the Orlando Sentinel - click below.

Looks like we will be sailing with Cpt Tom again. I first met him on the Magic in 2004. Very friendly :thumbsup2

Oh, that's cool. We've never had him as captain. We've had Captain Thord, and ..... uh..... I can't remember the other one. I liked the second one better, though. He had more personality.

We might, but by that time, it may be time for his break. I would love it, he's been the Capt on 6 of our 8 cruises, but all of the Disney Captains are great guys!!

I hope not. I've heard a lot of good things about Captain Tom.

Question of the Week -

What are you most looking forward to on the Fantasy?????

Midwest???

I booked for Friday night out of AC. Had spirit points to use so I got a good deal. Can't book yet for flights home though.

I am shocked we got the entire week off!

Sorry Patty, for some reason I thought I remembered last cruise, since it was a surprise for the kids that you scheduled a flight out to the midwest, than to Orlando, so that the kids would, rally be surprised the next morning!

Hi everyone!

My family just switched to this cruise from the Fantasy Western October 27, 2012 cruise. My kid's school schedule came out, and they had changed the week that fall break will be on, so we will be joining you guys! This actually makes me happier, because we have only been on one Disney Cruise which was the western Caribbean, and I was really wanting to do the eastern. It looks like this is a great group! It will be myself, DH, DS (9), and DD (6). We will definitely want to do the FE. Look forward to chatting it up with you all during the next few months!

As first time cruisers on our 25th Wedding Anniversary, I'd be interested to hear from the veterans, how (un)likely it will be for me to be able to book Palo, Remy, excursions, spa offerings and a 4 person private cabana?

It's hard to believe that being DVC owners since '93, that this is the first time we'll be on a Disney vessel (not counting the Empress Lily, of course)!

Welcome!!!

I will add you to our roll call on the first post. :) I have a DD right between your two kids. She'll be 7 on the cruise.

I look forward to getting to know you!!

My husband, dd(will be 2 at the time) and myself are super excited to be going on the Fantasy! Are there any other Moms on here with a toddler?:mickeybar

Hi, Vincent!

I wish I could answer your questions fully.

You probably won't have any issues with excursions. This will be my 10th cruise, and I haven't ever had an issue getting an excursion I wanted. That said, I've never tried for, oh say swimming with the dolphins. We have done tours, and snorkeling adventures and never had a problem.

I'm not a spa person, so I can't answer that one.

Remy, I got our cruise on the Dream, but I was gold. It being somewhat new, I don't know how popular it will be. Reading through the boards, I see a lot of people who don't like the idea of spending the extra $$$ that Remy's cost.

Palo, ah Palo, the first thing to go will be brunch...it's very popular, and since they only have that during sea days, the number of 'slots' is very limited. High tea as well. Even as Gold I have not been able to get a Palo's brunch pre-cruise, but usually am able to get it once onboard. I usually end up on a wait list, but they have usually come through for me. Dinner is a little easier since they do seatings every night. Again, you might have to wait list, but chances are good.

I've been given to understand that Disney reserves a number of seatings for each level for these things so that everyone gets a shot, so the best thing to do is be ready at midnight when your booking opens!!!

Good luck, I hope you get what you want!

(congrats on your anniversary! We are empty nesters also that love to cruise on DCL...we will celebrate our 34th anniversary in December)

Reminder!

We will be having another Cruise Chat on Friday April 6, 2012 at 8:30 PM Eastern in the private Chatzy Room that Ntheory (Shell) has set-up and is the moderator. Please reach out to her if you need the invite and password. If you have joined us on any of our other chats or you have previously sent a request to Shell and have gotten a link and password, you can still use that info!

I wouldn't call myself a veteran, but on our first cruise last year on the Magic (same week as this one) we had no problems with reservations. But I did stay up until midnight the night our booking window opened. We did a Palo brunch & dinner, one spa booking, and our excursions. We didn't try for a cabana, but I hear those are hard to get.

Once on the ship, the first day we were able to book two more spa appts with no problems.

With twice as many people on board, it may be harder :confused3

Good Luck!

Last year on the Dream we were not able to book Palo, Remy, brunch or any spa treatments during sea days as first timers. By the time the pay in full date came around though I found both Palo and Remy reservations available so we booked a Palo one that we then ended up changing the time for when we arrived at the ship anyway. Regardless of what happens prior I would definitely keep your eyes peeled and go to Guest Services/Palo reservation desk (whereever that is when you sail) when you board if there is still something you want.

I can't believe we're getting close to the 200 day mark! I have not been on this thread in awhile but think about the cruise every day!

Just trying to find somewhat lower priced airfare from NJ - but will probably fly out of Philly.

Booked BCV 2 Bedroom Villa starting on the 1st to squeeze in one full day in WDW for the kids! :goodvibes :cool1:

Looking forward to getting some excursions booked (Zip-Lining #1 choice) and hope to make chat on Friday!!
