November 28 dream cruisers

There will be six of us on the cruise, in two connected staterooms:

Room 1
Me - DW (Kellie) - alcohol, yes, particularly wine
DH (Patrick) - alcohol, yes, again particularly wine :goodvibes
DS - (Connor) - age 8

Room 2
Grandma 1 (Linda) - alcohol, yes, again particularly wine
Grandma 2 (Phyllis) - alcohol, very rarely drinks
DD (Cassidy) - age 12

I add my thanks for organizing the FE. We have never done FE as its our first cruise :goodvibes - so having a smaller group might work better for us as well.

I will have to post stateroom numbers later - we are on deck 5, but I have to go look up which rooms, though I should know as I chose them! :lmao:

Thanks for the information..Let me know if you have any questions?

I can't believe how quiet this thread is with there being 9 months before we sail. I feel like I should post something. Let's try where is everyone coming from and how long will you be in Orlando?

This is our second Disney Cruise. Our first cruise was a seven night in July 2006. It was one our our favorite vacations. It had 2 stops at Castaway Cay. Our son had his 4th birthday on that cruise.

We are from Brownstown Michigan, a southern suburb of Detroit. We are flying into Orlando on Thanksgiving day and staying in Port Canaveral the night before the cruise.

We are traveling with our neighbors, this will be their first Disney cruise.

We are going to spend Thanksgiving in Port Canaveral although I doubt much will be open there. My parents are joining us from Canada. We live in northern Virginia, outside of Washington DC

This is our first cruise. Its why we chose a 3 day - to get our feet wet so to speak. ;)

We live in Fairbanks, Alaska. So its a long trip for us. We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jumbo House on Thanksgiving. We are still figuring out if we will take Disney transport to the cruise, or use a town-car service. One issue for us is Phyllis is from Deltona, FL. So we are working out details on meeting up with her.

After the cruise we will be staying at Bay Lake Tower for 5 nights and then moving over to Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidiani for 8 nights. We usually get to WDW every 2 years, and since we come for so far away we try to hit 2 weeks if we can. That also lets us visit with Phyllis (aka Grandma 2) for a few days. :goodvibes

Sounds like a great plan. We are keeping this a short trip as we were not planning on traveling over the holiday but my mother wanted to do something for her birthday. We have taken Disney transport when we have stayed on site and the benefit is they pick your luggage up at around 7 or 8 am and you next see it on the ship. They will then do the same when you return. It makes for easier traveling as all you have to worry about is your carry on luggage and family. The main down side is that you have to wait for the bus to leave and you normally do not arrive at the port until 1 or 2. A town car will get you there when you want but realize they do not allow you to board the ship until around 11:30 (we had a 10:30 check in time and spent an hour just hanging out and waiting around which is not much fun).

Wow Phoenixblue, that sounds like a great trip. Our first cruise was 7 days and I am thinking this 3 day one is going to be too short.

I started making our fish extender today. And I have been looking at all the great FE gift ideas on line. It is going to be hard to choose.

I like the idea of not having to deal with luggage at all, so I am leaning towards Disney transport. We also thought about the town car to stop in at the Dis Welcome Center, but with the Dis cruise heading out two days later, I am not sure it will be open. Though, with a town car we could have Grandma Phyllis get a ride to AKV and then ride with us to the boat. Much to consider.

My DS and I both get a bit sea sick, so we also decided a 3 day would be a good test for us. We will be bringing several sea sick remedies as well. ;)
I don't think we will have any issues, but I will be prepared for them so Murphy's Law won't take effect.
I am a planner and the spreadsheet creation has begun! :rotfl2:
One of the things we really enjoy at Disney is the food as we are all foodies at heart (and have very limited options here at home). So I work out ways to eat at as many signatures as we can (we usually get the Deluxe Dining Plan and expect to this trip as well). DD is an 'adult' this time around as she will be 12. She is all kinds of excited about that as she is looking forward to the sushi at Cali Grill.

I plan to make our fish extenders a summer project for me and the kids. Along with our door decorations. It might only be a 3 day cruise, but it will be a grand adventure and deserves to be decorated accordingly. :goodvibes

It is great to hear all of your plans. I know it is a short trips but do you plan on going to Remys or Palos on board?

We are not planning on going to Remys or Palos. Although I heard they were very nice, on our last cruise we really enjoyed the dinning rotation.

I finished our FE and I am proud at how it turned out. I would post a picture but I can not figure out to post a picture.

Not sure yet if we will be doing Palo or Remy. Still pondering that.
We do have plans for a shore excursion on Castaway Cay to swim with the the rays and to visit Ardastra Gardens in Nassau.

We have done the rays twice and really enjoyed it but the water was a little cool in December. We have not tried Remy's (it is more than we want tos pend and the main dining room is great). We have been to Palo's twice and it is a nice getaway with great service. I do think it is hard because on a 3 night cruise I want to go to each restaurant

I can't believe ther are only 3 of us on this board and 8 months before we cruise. I wonder where everyone else is.:rolleyes1

I was wondering the same thing. I am in a few Disney cruise groups on Facebook. I see others talking about all the people in their FE group and their cruise is farther out than ours. Is this unusual to have such a small group? I thought this would be a fairly full cruise because it is over Thanksgiving weekend.

This group really is odd. We are cruising on the Magic for Christmas and that list is growing. It is not as busy as other groups have been but it is a month later and more active than this. I wonder how full the cruise is going to be.

I wonder if a lot of people who might have done this cruise are doing the podcast cruise instead as that one is only two days later.
