I didn't see a thread already for this sailing on the one that started it all so I figured I would create one!

Just booked on this cruise. This will be our 6th cruise with Disney. We are very excited to be cruising again. My husband and 2 daughters (age 12 and age 17) will be cruising with me.

We will be on this cruise too coming all the way from Australia 2 adults 7year dd and 3 yo ds

This will be our second cruise. We are taking our first one in May I the dream. We will be cruising with our two boys (2,4) and my parents. We can't wait! I'm hoping it's a Christmas cruise

Has anyone seen a FE group started for this cruise?
There's no Fish Extender group set up here on DISboards. In case someone would be interested in stating one, here's a little "how to":
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

Let's get the FE list started!! We are going to need a few pieces of information from everyone in order to ensure that everyone has a great time participating.

So excited for November!

Has anyone sailed with Disney out of Miami? What did you do to get to the port? We are planning on coming in the night before.

Hello Everyone!
My husband and I just purchased tickets for this cruise to surprise our daughters, 8 and 6 at time of sailing. This is our first Disney Cruise and we are so excited! I would love to get signed up and be a part of the Fish Extenders (FE). For all of the veteran Disney Cruisers, any advice for first time DCL cruisers would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you all and we are so excited!!

We have not sailed from Miami but we have booked Comfort Suites Inn as they have free airport pick up and free shuttle to the port.
Apparently the area is not the greatest but so it depends on what you want to do that night. We are there for 2 nights but have hired a car to do some sightseeing.
Since we are coming a long way we don't want to waste anything and we want to go for a drive down to the Keys.

If you have discovered other accommodation or have any ideas please let us know

The wife and I just booked our cruise this afternoon. This will be our second Disney Cruise, 1st time aboard the Magic, 1st time out of Miami. If anyone is starting a FE group we would love to join. We participated in the fish extender on the Fantasy couple years ago when we took our niece and loved it!

Also, we will be driving down from NJ and are looking for a good park, sleep cruise type hotel. I saw a cheap one for a Red Roof but they only offer one way shuttle to the port, not sure how I would get back after the cruise. If anyone knows of a better deal I'm all "mouse" ears!

Hey there! This is our second cruise on DCL. Our first was on the Fantasy last year. You.Will.LOVE.IT! My biggest piece of advice would be to follow the trip reports on the boards. I got so many helpful tips from them. We have a 3 year old (boy) and a will-be-at-sailing 9 month old daughter. The characters are our favorites because, unlike the parks, you get the same set so they always remembered our son each time we saw them. It was amazing to see them call him by name as he approached etc. Made our trip extra magical. In addition, the cast is all about families! We literally saw dinning staff cutting kid's chicken for them one night. It's just a very different experience and such an amazing one at that. Can't wait!

I haven't looked into it yet, but i'm starting to. I'll let you know what i find. The airport pick up and free shuttle to port is really tempting. Everything i've found seems to have one or the other.
