November 26, 2005/ 7 day Eastern Magic

Jon - 5 per kid or 5 per family? I'm thinking I should bring 5 per kid since mine are fanatical pin traders so they'll probably like this, too. Thought about going to DTD to golf but the thought of Friday night/Thanksgiving traffic is giving me pause! Kids will probably be happy anywhere so maybe we'll stick to Cape C area but I haven't ruled out DTD.

Bahogg (or anyone else) - Our kids are DS (just turned) 9 and DD will be 7 two weeks after cruise if anyone with kids the same age wants to email.

:maleficen Happy Halloween!

WoW! You guys have been busy; this thread has really picked up! We're putting on a haunted house this Saturday and have been very busy!

There are 2 other families going on this cruise with us, and we are having a pre-cruise dinner tonight. We have decorated with all the DCL memorabilia we have and are serving Disney themed items. We are all getting very excited.

I'm getting the boys their Flu shots todays. THEY ARE NOT HAPPY! I keep telling them it will be worth it so they don't get the flu on the ship. I can't even schedule mine till next week.

We only have 23 more days! :earseek: The boy's clothes are 90% ready to be put into the suitcase.

I agree that the docs should be coming shortly. Does anyone remember if the tux rental form is in them? We rented tuxes the last 2 cruises, but I can't remember when we ordered them. I'm losing my memory! :earboy2:

As far as tipping, we always bring cash with us and decide after the excursion.

Well, I'll check in later.

Boo - I was probably only going to bring 5 for us(we may bring 10, depends on what we find), however, that should not stop other people from bringing more. Just make sure that they are in multiples of 5 so hopefully everyone will be able to trade all of theirs. I know I would like to make sure I get 5 or 10 different magnets back.

Thumpery - that DCL Dinner sounds like fun. As for the tux rental form, in 2002 I remember it coming with the docs. I have never rented them because we normally skip Formal Night. However if my DW can find some nice dresses at a cheap price, we may actually go.

Boo MC - There are really good putt-putt places on International Drive in Orlando, and that would not be very far from the airport.

and of course my favorite is at Disney, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.

halestrm - Please send me the excel spreadsheet. Thanks!

Anybody going to Kennedy Space Center? I work for NASA so I can get info for you.

Can't wait to meet you guys.

Hi All!

I've been looking over the spa services to see what I'm going to treat myself too (other than the Couples Massage that comes w/our "Romance at Sea" package). I haven't been on a Disney Cruise since 2002 and don't remember if they do daily "specials" like other cruise lines (got a great facial w/a ton of trial size product on a Celebrity cruise for $65!). Does anyone know?

We are leaving 3 weeks from tonite! I'm so excited I don't know if DH will survive my enthusiasm! We get to see our new house (located just southeast of Orlando) for the first time! We won't be "officially" moving in until January, so we need to go hang curtains put out some plants/wind chimes to make it look "lived in" (maybe hop in the pool ;)

Does anyone here have a favorite to recommend (besides the stone therapy massage) from the spa? I've got some cabin credit that's gonna burn a hole in my pocket!

I've been doing all kinds of planning and just had a big "oops- almost forgot" hit me in the face this morning. Parking at the departure airport!
We rarely travel on holidays, but are flying out on Thanksgiving day - I am sure the lots will be full since it is the biggest travel weekend of the year. Got my reserved spot today. Just a reminder for everyone!

Our cruise leaves 4 weeks from today! :goodvibes :cheer2:

We just ordered a garment bag, and a really neat rolling softsided cooler from the disney shopping website. They are having 10 percent off and free shipping if anyone is interested!

Dear friends,

What a horrible experience we had. Not just the hurricane, but the sanitary and food conditions. Some people faired better than most, we actually had a bed vs a floor for 6 days.
I hope trying to think about the sis cruise helps me take my mind off of it.
I am still haunted by all those faces i left, praying they could get out.
Eventually, my tears will subside, i didn't fall apart there, but now i am just decompressing.
I wish I had a small radio, flashlight, and candles. I will remember every trip from now on. Maybe, even some emergency food packages.
Any way, I look forward to meeting some happy faces. These kinds of experiences bring out the worst and the best of people.

Sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience. Hopefully in four weeks all of us can help you forget that experience and start a brand new one.

Just wondering...

Am I only the only one who keeps logging onto the DisneyCruise website to help me realize this is really happening? I love just logging on and seeing the date, etc.

I'm a bit guilty if this, too. My dinner time says 6:00 and I'm wondering if that just means early seating or if that's my staggered dining time. Anyone know?

Halestrm - looks like our DD's are the same age if you're still looking for someone to email.

BOO MC - I think it is a staggered time. I can tell from the late seating, that it is staggered.

Hi everyone!!!! We booked our cruise soooo long ago that I just couldn't get into the whole excitement part of it....now it is less than a month away-woohoo!!!!

It is me, DH, dd-9 and ds-8. I checked yesterday and we have been upgraded to a verandah room. We were pretty excited about that. We went ahead and booked Poalo, our spa treatments and the kids club....so now it all seems real.

I have a couple of questions though. Do most of you were formal(tuxes/long evening gowns) for the formal night? Or do you do suits/nice dresses? I am trying to decide if we need to go ahead and rent tuxes for the men or not.

Anyway....I am looking forward to meeting many of you in person. This is the first cruise of any kind for us. :earsgirl:

Hi Former Disco Queen (cool code name . . .LOL)

Congrads on your upgrade! There don't seem to be many rooms left. We have an 8 year old boy coming, too. Is yours excited about the kids clubs? Mine cannot wait!

Just imagine folks . . in 4 short weeks, we'll be starting our first day at sea!! Can you smell that great breakfast at Topsiders? Are you just waking up to room service? Spa time anyone? We'll be headed to our brunch at Palos . . . only 4 more weeks til smooth sailing . . .

Have a restful Sunday!

Former Disco Queen - Welcome. If you have not found it yet, I have created a list of the people going on the cruise from the board. It is post #358 and you can find the link in my signature. It will bring you right to it.

We are planning on having a cruise meet by the Goofy Pool on Saturday @ 3:00 PM. We are going to wear Flourescent Green Mickey Swatches from Home Depot. I am going to wear one that DisneyBride96 posted up on this thread. We are also having a magnet trade. I fyou want to participate in the the magnet trade, bring 5 Magnets of your hometown/state to trade with others. My DW and I decided to do 10(5 pp), but just bringing 5 is fine.

As for Dressing up. I will be wearing a suit for Formal Night and a Dress Shirt and Tie for Semi-Formal night. I know a couple of other people are wearing tuxes. Feel free to wear what you want. This is the first time we are going to Formal Night because I hate getting dressed up, but decided I could wear a suit for Dinner.

You will have a great time on the cruise.

I will have you updated on the list very shortly.

HI All --

I was so thrilled to find my Flourescent Green Mickey Swatches! I got a few different colors and we're going to add it to our door magnet. Ummmm . . .now I'm thinking about having DH do 5 magnets too. He thought he was funny the other day when I was telling him what to plan for that first day on the ship. He expressed he normal question about social activites I plan . . . "do I have to go, too" . . .LOL. He's a total sweet heart, but is so looking forward to being in cognito . . .:sunny:

Just realized I needed new black and khaki socks for the boys to wear for dinner. Still working on suits for them for formal night.

Have a terrific day!

Wow, I have been posting under the main thread trying to find out the forbidden itms to bring onboard. I found out you can't bring your travel steamer. I never leave home without it. The funny thing is I discovered that because I was trying to decide if I needed to bring my travel coffee pot (Hello, my name is K.Lee and I am a coffee addict). I found out that was against the rules do to fire hazzard.

OK, back to packing list, cross of steam and coffee pot. Tears slowly rolling down my face.

Everytime I think I have the packing list done, something else pops.

K.Lee - Coffee and Steaming, that is what the Concierge staff is for. Being in the Walt Suite, you should get those perks.

Jon,
I can send my clothes out to be pressed, but it takes 24 hrs. I must admit, I have never had concierge service before, so I really don't know what to expect. I am used to just pulling out my steamer and getting rid of the last minute wrinkles. I will probably just put everything out the first night so it all is OK when we need it. I keep forgetting we will have ample closet space. I keep thinking of the posts I read early on that state the closet is to store luggage. Hopefully we can get extra hangers because my DD is a clothes horse and is bringing many of her "diva" clothes that wrinkle.

As for coffee, I have been warned that even with the Cat 1, it is not good if you are a coffee person. I guess it is an instant coffee. I can deal with that, I think coffee is mostly just habit first thing in the morning. It is just such a bad habit, I bought the travel coffee maker when I saw it. I can go to the coffee shop to get it but I figured out with the cost of the mocha I will spend between $126 to $200 on coffee. Oh well, it is just one less excursion, I will have to spend more time in the room.
