November 26, 2005/ 7 day Eastern Magic

Hi,
Can we join the party? This will be our 4th cruise and we just can't wait. We are going down a week early to stay at All stars Music. :earsboy:
There's 4 of us
Me
Dh
DS-14(almost15)
DD-12

My kids have so much more fun when they know someone. If there's anyone out there close to their ages and want to email the kids it would be fun to meet up on the ship.

Hey Michelle2 --

This is our first pirates night. On our last cruise, they hadn't started it yet. It was only a late night buffet. I think my boys would be most excited about having swords . . .LOL. That's what they think of when they think of pirates ;)

Time is flying. We're waiting to get our passports back. New Orleans was our passport agency. We're glad we waited. As a precaution I'm going to order more copies of our birth certificates. Oh, the challenges . . .

To heck with it, I am dressing up! I have my hat, my shirt, my boots and my hoop earring. I am just looking for a pair of tight leather pants that aren't too tight for a size ??!

holldoll - We are glad you can join us. If you take a look at post #358 it has a breakdown of the families with the ages and of the kids. I would PM them to see if they are interested in e-mailing. I am working on getting the list so you can click on the name and it will automatically bring up the PM page for that user.

I will have the list updated shortly.

What else is everyone doing to get things ready??? We have gotten disposable cameras for the kids...still need water proof ones though. Does anyone have any suggestions on a really good disposable brand that will take the best pictures underwater?? I had one in Hawaii and took it snorkeling in Hanuma Bay, and the pictures didn't turn out good at all!!! I have seen people's underwater pics that have turned out way better than mine did, so it has to be the camera?? I have to have good underwater pics this time!

Six weeks from tomorrow! I just had to post because we only have a few weeks left, and we seem to always be on page 2! :goodvibes

Is anyone else on main dining with us??? :teeth:

Can you believe we will be there in the sunshine in only 6 weeks? We're hoping our passports get back in time. The passport website says they'll be here by 11/12. Does anyone else have any experience with how accurate those dates are?

We're just now starting to purchase our fall clothes. It's still in the 70's. I'm hoping it will stay in the 70's through Thanksgiving :) Miracles happen every day!

Honestly, with a swimsuit, shorts and a few shirts, we're thrilled. I just want to be there!

OH, and I keep reading trip reports so I can remember how great it's going to be . . .

And I'm doing extra work so we have more $$

Have a terrific day!

Hi All! :wave2: I just found this message board. I think it's great that we can all get to know each other before the cruise! I'll do my best to catch up with the last 28 pages! Add the 4 of us to your list.

Me
DH
DD- age 9
DD - age 5

If anyone else has a daughter around age 9 that would like to email my daughter, please PM me. My daughter would love to chat with someone around her age before the cruise.

This is our first cruise... The kids are really excited, but I'm starting to feel the stress. (Just spent the last 30 minutes reading the "dress code thread" )

BTW Anyone else have the late seating for dinner? I was told that we would be seated at 8:00pm.

katiesmom - Welcome and glad you found us. We have not been a very active group in posting, but as the cruise gets closer, I hope that things will pick up. I have added you to the list. DO NOT WORRY about the dress code. Main Rule - Do not wear shorts or Bathing Suit.

Michelle2 - I have not found much difference in Underwater Cameras. A lot of it has to do with the amount of light is coming through. With the same camera we have gotten great pictures and even gotten pictures that barely come out.

We have started buying little things for the trip. Containers to put drinks in from the Soda machines on Drink 9. Stuff to make a Door Magnet. I have started to pack some of things that I know we will need on the trip, but not at home(ponchos, over-the-door shoe holder)

Our seating for Dinner is 8:30. We booked late so I knew we were going to be late.

IF EVERYONE POSTS WHEN THEY ARE DINING, Time they are scheduled, since we are now on the staggered Dining time, I WILL UPDATE THE LIST WITH DINING TIMES.

We are now over 100 adults that I have counted.

Wow, you are a busy person. Very impressed with your diligence.

I have also started to pack. I created an Excel spreadsheet from the best of thread that also includes calnedars. Let me know if anyone wants it, I will email it to you if you give me your address.

We have late dining but are wait listed for early. Don't really care if we get it, but I am worried about DD getting tired.

We will be at the 6:00 main seating. I am soooo excited that the cruise is six weeks away!!

Wow, I need to catch up.
Jon, our dining time is late. With my west coast family they would not even know the difference. However, i do remember my last disney cruise i had a standing joke that I actually lost weight on that cruise because the kitchen always closed on me. But that was in the beginning they have more than chicken nuggets and pizza, i'm sure.

My DH and I are heading to CANCUN AND RIVIERA MAYA FOR 8 DYS WITH OUT THE KIDS. It will even make the disney cruise more special being together. Also, I think one member here her husband is trasnferring and she is staying until her child finishes 8th grade. That must be hard. We might have to make the same decision. We are moving to live in England for 3 years, my DD6 thinks it is going to be for 3 weeks. I might have to stay for 5-6 months with the kids till they finish school. I am a little nervous about compatibility with the school system.

Any way, i don't have excursions planned yet. Does anyone know of a gret restaraunt in St. Maarten. My DS10 wants french food. He discovered omellletes and he is in search for the best or the best lobster? He loves good food. But my DS(almost 13year old) would notice if he was eating snails.

Ps. Thumbery, I am envious 2 wks in warm florida-how great!!
CJ :hourglass

Well, add 4 more to the late dining. We had early seating on our last DCL. We felt so rushed. I live with a family of night owls anyway. Both boys (11 & 8) are excited about staying at the clubs until 1 AM every night (mom has not agreed to that just yet!).

jjbescher - what kind of containers are you getting for the drink machine? Don't they have cups with covers available?

Also, outside of know we're late seating, how do find out our "staggered" time of eating?

halestrm - I LOVE YOUR SPREADSHEET!!! THANKS!! Folks, this is a great accumlation of DIS knowledge in an easy to use package! I've started stacking things on a shelf in my office that is reserved for DCL. Underwater camera, new digital camera bag, lots and lots of suntan lotion . . . the weather is just now starting to get chilly enough to wear jeans. Soon, I'll add the bathing suits, shorts and short sleeve shirts to the pile.

Oh, and I bought another set of dress pants for the boys. I'm planning to bring only two pairs of dress pants for the trip and switch tops. BIG QUESTION . . .Are the kids suppose to go "formal" on formal night? Neither of them has a suit. What have you seen on previous trips? I'm figuring it won't matter. My youngest is not prone to tie wearing . . .LOL

:banana: Dancing for joy at only 6 weeks to go!! Yahoo!

Hello Everyone!

We are main (early) dinner seating. I don't know what the staggered time is. I'd also like to find out.

We are getting very excited. We made a paperchain to countdown our days. 34 days including today for us! :cool1:

cjmx: Thanks for being envious of our 2 week vacation! But, WOW! A trip to Cancun & Riviera Maya for just your husband and you! That is very special and I'm envious of you!

As far as formal night, my boys still fit in the tuxes I bought last year for the cruise. I got a great deal on them. Anyways, I just need to lower the hems. I know it's a bit over the top, but we're getting our money's worth! My husband will rent the tux again. They look so handsome!

I've actually started packing or should I say making piles! It's gotten quite cold here. So, while I was putting the boy's summer clothes away I pulled out what they will wear on the vacation.

Sounds like we should be happy our cruise is a month after drydock. From the onboard posts for this week they are still under some construction. The reclining verandah chairs so soooo nice! So does the big movie screen. OHHHH! I'm so excited! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

DiaLady - We bought containers from Carolina Pottery(but I also saw them at Walmart). We got a 1 Gallon and 1/2 Gallon container. The 1/2 Gallon container actually fits in the 1 Gallon container. Although they have cups with lids, we are on Deck 2 and if we are in our room and I want something to drink, I do not want to go all the way up to Deck 9. Also, I can mix drinks easier(Bringing own alchohol) in the bigger container and bring them up to pool or where ever we are hanging out and then pour them into smaller cups.

As for Dining Times, if you log in to the disneycruise.com and go to my reservations, put in your reservation # and birthdate, then in the summary, it should show you, not only the people that are reserved, but your stateroom and Dining Time.

I am glad that things are starting to pick up on this thread.

My DW thinks I am crazy for already packing, but I like to be prepared and not rushing around. Since we will be seeing family Thanksgiving, we will loose a couple days of packing.

Here is the link to the
LIST and Updated Information.

There has been talk about wearing Flourescent Green Mickey Mouse Paint swatches from Home Depot. Has anyone gone and checked to see if they still have them. I have not had a chance to make it to Home Depot. If we can get these, I would suggest wearing them as name tags. For our Embarkation picture, we will take it off, but then put it back on after that.

There has also been talk about trading hometown gifts. Has anyone done this before? How many gifts do you buy and how much do you normally spend on the gift? I would like to get this done so I do not need to worry about it later.

Jon "I" don't think your crazy for starting to pack already! We are using my parents motorhome as our "staging" area. My Mom will be travelling with us (and sleeping in a seperate cabin w/the 2-13yr old girls ;) So she and I went through all our formal/semi-formal/not at all formal clothes yesterday!

We will be dressing up for the formal nights (we bought DH a tux for our last cruise and it's been a great investment, plus he looks so sexy in it, very "NEW" James Blond-ish).

We are on the late seating too. Coming from the west coast 8:30p on the cruise is only 5:30p at home. Plus I like having the extra time to get ready.

We have decided to bring our own wine on-board (much cheaper option than the cruise charges). It also helps that my 1st cousin owns a local winery (boy will I miss that when we move to Orlando next year!)

Can you bring your own drinks on board? Most folks drink coffee to wake up, but dh and I are both addicted to XS energy drinks. They're in a can. We're hoping we can bring them in our carry on baggage. What has your experience been?

Have a great night!

DiaLady - From what I have read, Disney allows you to bring your own drinks on board. I plan on bringing some alchohol and mixing my own drinks. I would think XS energy drinks would be no problem.

Hi, just checking in.
Jon, I am like you...I have already started getting things ready as well, and like to be prepared as much in advance as possible. We are leaving on Thanksgiving day and having that with family, so it will knock off a few packing days for us as well...more to pack in fact!

I do not know about the items to bring to trade at our meet though...It is our first cruise, so I have no idea what to expect. I will just do whatever everyone else decides, but I would think that it would be pretty inexpensive. I, too, would love some ideas though. And I would like to get it done as soon as possible to, so I don't forget! :wizard:

I need us to make a paper chain too...whenever I think about it, the kids are away at school.
I love hearing what everyone is up to, and what everyone is starting to round up....keep it coming, my family are newbies!
