November 25, 2009 ~ Gobble~Gobble~ 4 Day WONDER Thanksgiving Cruise

Oh Wow!! I didn't realize that so many people come off ships and get sick! I guess we were luck ~ We all stayed 100%! I hope everyone is back to normal for the holidays:goodvibes

I have to say that I have learned a lot from this trip!

1. I'm so glad we did the fish extenders. I kids LOVED coming back to their room and finding stuff. My husband was even participating and I was very suprised by that! I was very impressed with how clever and crafty everyone was with their gifts. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! What we didn't use on the ship are now treasures of our trip.

2. I'm a teacher and my kids and I always travel in the summer but DH can't go because of our ranch and hay season. Well this Thanksgiving trip we went when his schedule was less busy but mine was crazy. I"m the big planner and organizer and I feel like I was too busy to do much of that when school started. So I don't think we will do another Thanksgiving trip. We had a great time but I felt like it was all a jumble.

3. Also doing 4 days at Disney world and then a 4 day cruise was not real smart either. I think the 7 day cruise would have been better. The packing was wild. The prices at WDW were high since we couldn't do the longer stay deals (4 nights plus 3 free I think). And the park passes were at the maxium prices, after 4 days it just cost a few more dollars to add days.

4. As sad as I am to say but I think my kids are too old to pay top dollar for another Disney cruise. My daughter (age 10) went on our day at sea to the kids club and she stayed for about and hour and a half. When I picked her up they had made pizza, ate the pizza and then moved somewhere and had done a Disney Trivia game. When I went into the room to get her she was sitting by herself at a table. I could tell she was isloated because she had not been going since the begining. She said she had fun but she never asked to go back and I didn't push the idea. My 12 year old son never went. He thought all the activities were more "girly". They both did enjoy spending time playing basketball on the top deck. I felt safe letting them go get drinks and food by themselves. So, I'm glad their first cruise was a Disney because I never worried about them. I'm just not sure if they enjoyed the ship to the extent of the price we paid.

5. Castaway Cay was awesome.... the water was freezing! I would love to go back when the weather was warmer! Nassua.... well I don't care to ever go back there! We went to Atlantis Resort through Comfort Suites. That was okay and not too crowed. It cost us about $300 for the taxi both ways and the "room passes". Not sure we got $300 worth though. It was not much more than a regular water park (which in Texas we have several of) I was expecting more interaction with the tropical fish and stuff (besides seeing them in the Dig). Plus, there were no maps of the place. There was no way to tell what we still had left to do. I'm sure we missed a lot just because we did not know it was there. Also ~ The locals were so pushy that we did not even want to shop at the straw market. We did shop some around the port and my kids were so nervious they just wanted to get back on the ship.

6. All in All it was a great trip! We made many memories and had a WONDERful time. I'm already looking to book another cruise.... I'm thinking Alaska this summer with just the kids
