Hi all! My family just booked this cruise today! It will be me, DH and DS (13). Mine and DS's first cruise so we are very excited! Looking forward to the planning!

I'll also put in a request for the FB group. :)

Welcome to the group!! I grew up in the DC area :) My son will have just turned 14. So glad there are so many kids the same age. This is a perfect cruise to "get your feet wet" :goodvibes

Welcome to the group! My son will be 14 at cruise time. :)

We'll be on this cruise as well! It will be me, my husband, 5 yo son, 7 yo daughter, my mom, my stepdad and my 7 yo niece.

We are from TX so we have to fly to FL. I'm thinking about a pre-cruise disney trip. Due to work schedules, we would only be able to go for 3 nights. Has anyone done this before? I've never done disney in less than 6 nights and am a little overwhelmed about trying to "fit everything" in a short trip.

]How early does everyone book airfare? We just booked our cabins and checked airfare from Houston, TX…it's over $500 per person! Almost half of what the cruise will cost![/B]

Also we booked a 5C which was the lowest category available. Is that typical to have all the other categories booked so far out? What are the chances that something in a cheaper category will come up? Should I check back every day to see if something has opened, or wait til closer to PIF date? We aren't particular on where we stay, so if we can save some money on the room type, then we can use towards airfare.

I read somewhere that southwest is opening up their schedule thought the end of the year on May 16. I have 1 free flight to use so I've been waiting to book my flights with southwest.

First of all, Welcome to the group :goodvibes

I have done a 5 nights at Disney and then drove my daughter to a surprise 3 night cruise. This time, I will be at the Tree House Villas for 3 nights prior to the cruise. It will be crowded because it is the weekend right before Thanksgiving, but not so bad if you have picked your rides on that stupid fast pass + thing and scheduled your days and rides. (Not that I am bitter they changed it or anything.:lmao:)

That's what I keep telling my dh. He's been spoiled by my superplanning our last 2 thanksgiving disney trips over 7 days. We were planning tonight and he just doesn't want to give up anything - lol! I keep telling him I can do it, but he's almost like, "if we can't go for a week, I don't want to go."

My mom is coming and wants to do WDW. She wants to stay value and we want deluxe. So I am thinking of just giving up and going to WDW another time for a week. Maybe June 2015. I just hate the thought of being so close to WDW and not going. Maybe I should just get over it and just go in the cruise :goodvibes

We are also planning to go to WDW for 2-3 days before the cruise. Don't know when we will be back in Florida and haven't been in 4 years. Have been cruising since DCL was in Galveston. Now that they are gone, we are also having to fly. We figure if we are going all the way there, may as well squeeze a trip in. Will probably only get to do 2 max 3 parks though.

I really wanted to do something like that before or after - we were even thinking Universal since we never make it there. With the holidays though, the kids have to see their dad right after and the weekend before my family is doing their Thanksgiving since we're bailing out on them for the cruise. :)

I have this issue sometimes. My little one loves Art of Animation and she really wants to try Ariel's room. But with the Poly expansion and GFV going up, it's been easier to show her other resorts. At some point, I am going to take her down and stay in Ariel room, before she is too old to care.:wizard:

I know what you mean. I will probably only do a few parks as well. I won't do AK and I might not get to Hollywood Studios. Those are our least favorites anyway. I am going after the Aug 30th cruise for a week, so i feel like I will get enough done in that time frame.

I love that your whole family is on the ball with plans.!!! I wish my family was like that. I am the only planner, but that also means I just tell them what dates I am free, because the rest of the time, I am already booked. ;)

Huge Disney Family taking our first cruise and we are so excited. Making it a family reunion since we live on opposite ends of the United States. Looking forward to seeing all the Holiday Decorations!! DH, DW, DD(13), DS(11). Would love to do the FE.
