November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

I just found out that my Dad has signed up to go on the cruise. He will be in stateroom 8600, and his name is Roger. He got the awesome DVC deal that is going on.

My kids are excited that "Grandpa" will be going with us. My DD says that she can not wait until Grandpa goes on the AquaDuck with her.

I hope all the Southeast and East coasters are doing well through the storm.

Stay safe!

That is great news!! One of my friends is also a DVC member and called to try to join us and was told the ship was full :sad2:

Port Canaveral, this is the Disney Fantasy

Disney Fantasy, we read you loud and clear

T-minus 4 weeks and counting until the beginning of our best cruise involving our most enthusiastic guests.

Roger that Disney Fantasy.

My dad told me that he got the last room available in the DVC Cash lot. He was also able to find availability on our flights to/from MCO. I'm hoping that his luck continues w/ DVC today in staying at Saratoga w/ us on the 23rd.

Onlly 4 weeks to go! I'm finishing up the FE this weekend.

I have a question for anyone here who has cruised DCL since they remodeled the terminal.

I just saw a couple photos of the inside of the terminal on a TR I was reading and it looked like you no longer have the Mickey head to walk through to get to the ship.

Did the remove it?:confused3

Kathy

Well DIS friends, I've been a member since 2006 and have never had a profile pic, so I just added one, so everyone can see I'm actually a human:) And it shows that DH and DS are too:)

Be grateful we are not cruising on the Fantasy today. It didnt even dock at PC until 10:30 this morning:scared:
On the DCL site it said for all guests who are boarding today to please arrive 3 hours later than their alloted time.
All must be on board by 5:00 unless arriving on a DCL bus.
Expect to depart up to 3 hours late today.

Can you imagine the mess today at that terminal and the airport. So many missed flights that need to be rebooked. People not even off the ship until noon or close too it. Then all those who are driving themselves to the port who dont know about the delays arriving while everyone is trying to
disembark. They will have a few hours to kill while waiting.

Not sure if the other ships are having the same problems, but if they are then the traffic will be triple the problem:crazy2:

I will be checking the port cam this evening to see when the actually leave tonight. I also read they will probably miss CC too. They are cleaning up the island but probably won't be done for todays cruise.

Inland where i am just got a couple showers and 2 windy days. Yesterday was very windy all day. A steady wind not gusts. Today was less wind and only 70 degrees.
Now where Tigger-too(Steve and Lisa) are on the coast would have been worse than me, although I dont think it was as bad as they first thought. Its the guys up North of us who will get hit hard by these when the storms meet up.

But thanks for asking.:goodvibes

ok thanks for the info on them. and u. glad u are ok.

I have been through a few of those earthquakes. We wre born and raised in Oregon. We both lived there all but 14 years of our lives. So I have seen the best and worst of both climates. At least with hurricanes we know they are coming and can prepare for them, but earthquakes take you by surprize.:worried:
I prefer the hurricanes to things all of a sudden flying out of my cupboards, rocking chair rocking on its own, freezer door flying open and kids screaming as they come flying down the stairs in fear:thumbsup2

to me - from having some friends houses leveled by hurricanes.. they seem worse. Earthquakes ive gone thru some bad ones in Los angeles. i guess both arent great. they are so quick at least. and i feel like we know what to do/expect.. Flying cars and houses seem scary. fires are bad too. a lot of the neighborhood where we live got wiped out . its freaky driving by black scorched trees and houses where only the fireplace remains. Breathing with masks for weeks. ash falling down. crazy.

oh we have power outages too! those are more entertaining. its like camping! :) candles and BBQs.

ok back to normal Mickey mouse talk. :) Pt canaveral looks so pretty i got the webcam up.

We spent the morning at Animal Kingdom. The weather was over cast and 70,which is perfect for walking around a theme park. We took a couple photos ot share once we get them downloaded.

Hopefully the Dream will pull out on time tonight. I plan on watching her pull out.

Hope everyone is having a Magical day!!

I just finished reading a couple reports and watching a youtube video about the Fantasy's voyage last week during the hurricane.

I guess several CM's had injuries, none real serious but still people were hurt. The people were told to stay in their cabins. I guess things flew off the shelves in their cabins and the items in the stores all fell off shelves and tables were over turned. Lots of broken glass too. I saw that in the video taken the next morning.

What a huge mess to clean up. Bottles of liquor also broke on the floor.
Guest wrote they could hear people screaming and crying in their neighboring cabins. They were so terrified.
Some stood up to 3 hours in the atrium waiting to get off the ship and no announcements were made for when they could leave. it was mass confusion.

Some CM's people spoke with youhad worked on cruise ships for many years said it was the worst they had ever been through.

I feel bad for all those on board. It would of been scary enough for a seasoned cruiser but can you imagine it being your first cruise or trying to calm your frightened kids.
