November 21, 2010 Wonder 3 day - FE Info Post #70

So are you going to do any Disney days at all? I have 11/15-11/26 planned but already want to add more days but I can't justify the kids missing more school. :sad2:

We are doing Disney for sure! Planning to arrive on Sat. 11/13 so we can hit the last day of FOOD &WINE on the 14th!!!!!! Then we'll stay till the 17th, use our Hilton points for a free night in Cocoa beach on the 17th before boarding the Wonder in the morning. We're planning on a couple days at Vero Beach for Thanksgiving still, then 2 days at Universal before heading home.

My kids are apparently going to miss a week of school too since Fontana changed the calendar for next year to traditional. Oh well! I'm not changing my plans. I went based on the 2010-2011 calendar that got published by the school board last September. Family time is important, and I had already booked this cruise, sooo .... I figure with F&W's last days now being the weekend we arrive, it's fate! Fate wants me to be happy. Fate wants me to go to our very favorite thing at WDW, F&W...:rotfl:

Just wanted to let you all know- we're crusing with you all!!!! Family of 3: Me -Dottie aka cruizen mamma, dh- DCL convert & DS 10( 11 by cruise time), This is our third Disney Cruise, our 2nd on the Wonder- our 1st being this same time in 2007, it's a great time to cruise, right before Thanksgiving so DS dosen't miss much school, the ship is already decorated for Christmas:wizard:, and the weather was perfect!! We participated in an FE on our 2nd cruise on the Magic and even DH enjoyed it so count us in- will go back now and get caught up on the posts- only 8 mths to go and I am having DCL withdrawl- wish I could pull off a cruise before then- but we have AP to the parks and are planning 4 days in July to get me through-

Talk you all soon

Welcome! I have a DS 10 as well. I know he really liked getting to know another DIS'ers DS on our Magic cruise- they hung out together a lot.

I'm glad everyone is in for the FE exchange because I already bought stuff!! :rotfl: Nothing like being a bit of an obsessive planner...! I found a good deal and went with it. We thoroughly enjoyed our FE exchanges on our previous cruises- even this last cruise that was just us adults.

SPH room 5520 is booked! (& paid in full):wizard: I saved $210 over a regular oceanview and got a higher deck.

sph rooms are awesome, we had this room on the Magic in June for our 7 day, great location on deck 5- the window is only slightly obstructed-still a great view- if for any reason you switch rooms or upgrade :idea:let me know I'd love to snag this room;)

Christine, I know my son would love to get to know a "friend" b4 we sail, do you facebook? Our 1st cruise DS didnot spend a whole lot of time in the club because the cruise was so short- he enjoyed his time in the club on the Magic- plus I let him come and go as he pleased because our room was so close to the club-as long as he paged us when he left.

Anybody thought about excursions yet? We've done the dolphins -our first cruise but plan to just stay on the ship in Nasau this time, DS would love to do parsailing again in Castaway Cay- we did that together on our June Cruise.

Hi everyone! We will be joining you on this cruise. Right now, it will be me, my 4 year old, my mom and my aunt. I'm not sure if I can convince mom and aunt to come, but I'm going to try. If not, it will be a great mother-daughter celebration. We'll stay at the World the 19th & 20th before heading over to the port. Looking forward to it!

Welcome Cruizen Mamma and Sabrecmc. :)

Anyone's weather warming up? We are FINALLY feeling a little spring here at the beach. I swear I thought it was never coming this year. :cold:

We will be coming down on Friday before the cruise and spending Saturday at the parks. If there is a MVMCP that night we might attend that, we went this last cruise and enjoyed it. We also have APs this year, but we will probably head home right after the cruise to get back for Thanksgiving since this is not a family cruise. Might stop by the parks on the way home, but we'll see.

Christine, I'll be out your way at the end of April. I'm a California brat born and raised, until my DH moved me to FL 14 years ago. It will be nice to be home again for a week. My mom has migrated out to the desert and my BFF lives in Redlands. Are you in Fontana? I've lived on both sides of you... Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, Colton, San Bdo. I'll wave as I fly by. ;)

Here's to warmer weather!

I teach in Fontana, but actually live in Devore (little town at the bottom of the Cajon Pass- by San Bernardino). Both my kids were born in Fontana at Kaiser. As a kid I mainly lived in Ontario, and as an adult have lived in Riverside and San Bernardino as well. Small world!! You'll be coming out at a fabulous time. Our weather here the last two weeks has been GREAT! I'm taking the kids snowboarding tomorrow and I hope the snow conditions are not total mush. I do love my So Cal winters!!

My son would love to have a friend on the cruise! My DD already has a friend going- the "Ally" of jayally! I do facebook, but my kids don't. I know my son is looking forward to the clubs again, especially he likes what I have shown him from the navigators of the new Lab setup. He would like to do the Out and About stuff as well as the Solve It series. Plus his favorite- the Goofy Pool!!! Hard to get that boy out of there!

We are planning on staying on the ship in Nassau as well. We've done it before, so we're planning on treating it as a sea day. DD is dying to do the parasailing on CC!! She had signed up for it on our November Magic cruise but it was cancelled due to high winds. Tell me more about it! FIL was going to do it with her then- he's not sailing with us this time- so now I guess it will probably be just me- yikes!!! I don't wanna!!! But it's something she really wants to do...

Too funny, my first apartment was on 4th street, just west of Mountain. I've also worked in Ontario and that's where I was married.

I do miss the mountains a lot. Florida is very flat, even in the northern part where we live. Also the briny smell of the ocean, for some reason we don't get that so much here. On the positive side, we live in a subdivision that's on water, and I can drive a mile over a bridge and be at the white sugar sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, and I always joke that we couldn't have gotten a cardboard box back home for what we paid for our house. So I guess it's a trade off. But I'm really looking forward to my visit!

I'm still thinking this might be too good to be true. DH's friend stayed at BLT based on our recommendation and they liked it so much they bought DVC. Her DH won't cruise, so they gave it to us! We're cruising April 15, so this is really, really a treat.

I'd love to be in on the fish extenders. It'll be me (40), DH (40), DD(14) and DD(11).

Wish we could sneak in some park time, but I won't leave my mom alone on Thanksgiving and she won't travel. So we're arriving the night before and heading home as soon as we get off the ship.

My family and I are booked in 5020 and 5022; our DD is booked across the hall from us (I believe a sideways cat 11 - which we really like, too). My DH and I are on the 11/18/10 Wonder and have the same stateroom - 5020. Glad we don't have to change staterooms.

Oooh, so you're the one who has the sph's!! We booked the 11/18 and there were none available. So we booked a cat 10 on deck 7... hoping that either a) at some point a sph opens up, and we can switch in easily; or b) DCL decides to keep us in a cat 9 for both parts of the b2b! We can hope, right? :lmao: We stayed in 5020 our first cruise, on the Wonder, and loved it!!!! We have 5520 booked for our Mexican Riviera Christmas cruise in 2011.

Bumping this up...

We are SO not gonna be on page 2 behind 2011 Dream cruises! Puh-leeze!!

I live off of Mountain, South of Mission just across from Ontario High School. My first apartment was in Fontana in 1987 and I moved back to my old house in Ontario last April after 22 years in Fontana. I actually miss living in Fontana. :lovestruc

Small world, isn't it? I haven't been home for five years, I am always amazed at how much things change. I spent my junior high and high school years in Upland, and much of it was still citrus groves. Not anymore!

No doubt! In that same vein, I was going to respond to 3 previous posts in one answer, but I thought we might as well bump up our post count, too. :rotfl:

Wow, nice friends! Welcome to the thread. :)

I know! Even more amazing is I've never met these people. DH travels on business and works with her in another state. I'm all packed and ready for our Spring Break trip. Not a moment too soon either; we're leaving at 4 am. zit's after midnight now. At this point I'm just going to play on the computer til time to go. DH drives and prefers me to sleep anyway...I'm too much of a back seat driver.

After I get back and get the laundry done :laundy:, I'll be able to get caught up on all the posts.

Hi, All! Checking back in now that our February VGC trip is complete and it's time to start thinking about our next trip!

Soon I can book our post-cruise VBR stay at the 7-month window - sounds like we'll see you there, also, Silly Little Pixie? That'd be cool, as our kids are the same age (although the 13s are DS and DD... hmmmm).

I'm still on the fence about FEs, but if it's really just one or two things per family and not something every few hours.... LOL The potential cost doesn't deter me - just the time and shopping involved - I'm not a very good shopper!

We did Dolphin Encounter last time in Nassau, and will also probably hang out on the ship that day. Parasailing on CC sounds interesting - the kids would probably love that. We didn't do that last time.

I assume as we get closer we'll set up a greet time on the ship? That would be great, especially for the kids to meet up.

Looking forward to hanging with y'all as we get spooled up!

Cheers.
