November 2024 Trip To Tokyo Disney !

I'll be in Japan around the same time as you, from October 26 to November 11. I'll be at the Disneyland Hotel from October 29 to 31, with one day in Disneyland and two in Disney Sea. I ended up getting a package because of the Fantasy Springs access.
I did price it out (vacation package) but it was a little too far outside of my budget. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
I personally am getting so excited I can't wait to pack!

Park ticket Purchase Day!

I was prepared.
I opened up both the official Tokyo Disney site and Klook on my Browser tabs.

I decided to try the Disney page first. it was a couple dollars cheaper and I just wanted to have them (tickets) connected to my Disney account.
Selected the first day and Park (can you really only make on day purchase at a time, I did not see a way to add more days and tickets to my cart making each day a sperate purchase.), added to cart, and went to check out.
Tried paying with my BOA Travel card and, not unsurprisingly got the dreaded:

No Biggie. I selected all three days on klook and made my purchase.

Got the confirmation email and then three minutes later received email letting me know my purchase was cancelled.
Huh?

I went back to Klook and tried their help assistant, after a long wait they couldn't tell me why but said it may take a couple of DAYS to have an answer for me.

Ok... whatever.
Figured it might be that BOA declined the charge I re-ordered using a different card and bank (on that NEVER flags my foreign transactions).

Same thing happened all over again.

Okay. Back to the TDR site.
This time I put in the 1 days tickets and paid with my C1 card (the one that never flags) and it went through! YAY!!!!
Did the 2nd Day. It went through! YAY!!!!
Did the 3rd day:

Seriously?????
Tried a couple more times.
SAME THING.

Tried with every different CC card both me and the hubby had.

SAME THING.

I gave up and went to have some lunch. It had been 2 hours and I was ready to use my laptop as a frisbee.
Darling Hubby downloads the app. Tries himself (with the BOA card) and is succesful.
?
So we have two days tickets on my account and 1 day on his.

But at least we got them!

The only thing we have left to purchase/reserve is our train tickets for some our travel between cities!

So glad that worked out. The stress is just so incomprehensible with this stuff sometimes.

Well at 7 weeks out it's a bit late for me to change the plan for where we're staying however I will take your advice to mind so far is 30 minutes not being enough. Hopefully I can persuade the hubby that it's worth it to be in line for an hour. :-)
Wow sept really snuck up on me. Yes the most important tip would be to get there early. Most of the time they open the park early so if you arrive 30 minutes early you will be far behind. For Disney Sea I would plan to be in line at least 1 hour before opening. Preferably even earlier. You won’t wait that long since they’ll open early.

The Japanese people are some of the most patient people I’ve ever met. I thought I was patient but I was no match. They are early, patient and respectful.

19 DAYS TO GO!! :fish:

We just booked our train tickets for:
Osaka to Kinosaki Onesen
Kinosaki Onesen to Kyoto

and the Green car on the Shinkansen for our trip from Kyoto to Tokyo.
We even made sure to book seats on the side of the train with a view of Fuji (hopefully the weather cooperates)

We are still trying to decide which Team Labs experience to do! I am worried that we may miss out as I am not sure how far in advance they sell out...

However if we miss out I won't be heartbroken just slightly disappoint.

I mean.. I get to go to DISNEY!

We've been to both in Tokyo. Here's a little comparison if it's helpful. Planet is entirely barefoot with parts in water. You go from one room to the next. With Borderless, you have to find your own way and we missed a couple rooms. So your decision might depend on if the barefoot/water thing bothers you and if you like structure or no structure.

I like structure, so I preferred Planets. If was also our first TeamLab, so that might have influenced it. While I enjoyed Borderless, I found wandering around and often ending up in the same place a little annoying. I know that's by design, but I guess I don't like mazes lol.

Mostly waiting for hubby to decide if the barefoot thing is an issue for him. He has issues with feet. However, I think it's the one I prefer

Based on what I've seen in pictures I'm going with Borderless but really it's a matter of preference. I'd try to get tickets soon though, they have a calendar showing how close they are to selling out days and several days in October are already showing warnings.

Yeah. I was just looking and Planets was already sold out for the morning I had wanted to go. However the evening before that (the day we travel from Kyoto to Tokyo) they had some evening availability. I quickly talked him into it so I snagged them on Klook!
Hopefully we won't be too tired to do it that night (I usually don't make solid plans for "travel/transfer days)
I paid a few buck extra for "un-used pass" insurance just in case (only 60% refund but better than nothing).

Oh! I need to make my train reservations. Which side is the Fuji side for Kyoto -> Tokyo? Should I assume it's the other side on the way back?

Is there a preferred view side for Kyoto -> Osaka? Osaka -> Tokyo? Thanks very, very much!

From Kyoto going to Tokyo Fuji can be seen from the left side of the train and from Tokyo to Kyoto it's the right side of the train.
I do not know about the other train lines and preferred views.

The train doesn't turn around, it just reverses direction, so you'll always want the D/E side (regular class).

Packing for me is a 4.5 stage process

1.List Making
2. Staging
3.Prepacking
4.Final pack
4.5 Last minute panic items...

1. List making begins as soon as a trip is planned and continues/ is adjusted up until departure day

2. Staging Also starts soon after trip is decided on. I pick an area of my house (in this case a "spare" closet) and start placing things that I want to take or have bought just for the trip.

3. Pre-packing. This happened today. This is the stage where I pull out the suitcase(s), sort through the items in the staging area, and see what I CAN take vs. what I wanted to take. This is the stage where I laugh at my optimism. The optimism that made me think I could nest my carryon inside my checked bag and fit everything in that plus my backpack. I will be away from home 17 nights....
Thankfully my staging area had already clued me in that this was likely not going to happen which is part of the reason I went ahead and booked airport transportation.
I also eliminated several items... (pretty easy at this stage, I had way too many long sleeve shirts) Now everything is crammed into the appropriate bag in waiting for stage 4.

4. Stage 4 will take place the day before depart. This is where I weigh my bags and realize I still have too much stuff. Then I will pull it all out, force myself to eliminate a few more items (some of which I will regret later depending on weather) and repack in a far more organized fashion.
The eliminations in this stage are more difficult then usual because I can't just say "Oh if I really need one I will get it there"
I am 5'11 and 230 lbs... Clothing wise, Japan has nothing for me.

4.5 This is random.. it usually happens just before leaving. The "OMG, I can't believe I almost didn't bring this!"

Wow, i have the exact same packing routine. lol. I am looking forward to hearing about your trip. I will be leaving mid March for just over three weeks but visiting Bali and Thailand before ending in Tokyo. I want to learn from your successes and regrets. Happy Packing!
