oh pooh we didn't get this last trip and had planned on this trip
The kids liked Casey's Corner, I think they just liked sitting on the bleachers watching the tv lol
We loved Columbia Harbor house the first time, the second time it was just plain nasty, I didn't even finish my meal and was too hot/tired to go back and let them make it right.....might try them again though because I liked them so much the first time
Hmmmm How's the food at Contempo Cafe???? That wouldn't be too bad to hop on over for lunch
so after reading, it appears, the ribs/combo is served at dinner, just no ribs at lunch anymore!!!
I did enjoy Contempo Cafe- we are DVC owners at BLT, so we've done two BLT trips and this will be our third. We've eaten a few lunches/dinners there, but not breakfast. Dinner was okay- there is one sandwich I really enjoyed. DH tried some of the flat breads and a salad and enjoyed it. It isn't a huge menu, but enough. Plus it is so fun to sit and just watch the monorail pass by overhead!
As a first timer to Disney, I thought the idea of magic hours was to make the most of them. Reading easywdw its recommendations are to stay away from those. Whats the consensus from people here .. use them or avoid magic hours ??
WE LOVE EMH- the morning ones. We are early risers at Disney. So we take advantage of every morning EMH we can. We use park hoppers too- so we do the EMH morning park until 1pm or so and then take a break and hop to a different park. We've found morning EMH is so worth it. Not many people want to get up early on vacation and be at the park's gate by 7:45/8am. That means getting up at like 6-6:30am for most since you need transportation time (we rent a car- easier than waiting on bus). We've gotten so much done in the EMH mornings. In fact, last trip- we did one at MK, we managed to ride Peter Pan 3x, Dumbo 2x, Pooh 2x, Haunted Mansion, teac ups and a few others in the first 90 minutes. It was crazy how much we got done. Then we strolled back to main street and enjoyed a cinnamon roll around 10am (after 2 hours of rides) just as other folks are rolling into the park.
We do avoid evening EMH for the most part, those do make the parks more crowded, being it is night and 3 hours. Every once in a while, we will do one, but for the most part we do not. If we had older kids, we might, but we have a 4yo. We tend to do better with the early mornings. he can stay up late with no problem, but we don't want to push it!
How does Osborne Lights work? We haven't seen them before, they start at 6:30 until close?
and easywdw is showing Fantasmic at 6:30 everyday, is this normal for November?
Osborne lights turn on each day at dusk (starting 11/9). There is a little "show" where a child is selected to flip the switch. Crowds are crazy right when lights come on. We tend to go near park closing time. The lights usually stay on until after closing. We've found fewer crowds that way. otherwise, it can be a madhouse and quite scary in there if you are trying to maneuver a wheelchair or stroller. it was wall to wall people. We stick with closing time and enjoy it a lot more and can spread out and take our time. They could add more fantasmics (second showing), i believe someone said they did last year for certain days. probably a month before you will see additional shows added or extended hours for certain dates/parks
For those who've gone the week before thanksgiving in years past, would I be doing my kids a disservice by going against wdweasy's advice and hitting MK on an EMH day. Just thinking that a 3 and 16 month old is not going to make it real late anyhow but I could get them going early and take advantage. I used tp on our last trip and he was dead on. I trust dis users and wdweasy comes highly recommended. Just wondering which way to go. TIA
Defnitely hit MK on EMH morning- we got so much done! see my note above about EMH. We rode a TON in that first hour or two. most people don't want to get up early. we do the morning EMH and then hop to another park for the evening.
See, if the dates hold up, I am stuck with either Friday the 9th, or Monday the 12th (Veterans' Day). I probably will do both of them, just to make sure we have time to do all pictures, etc; but I am hoping that it being November 9th, and the first party, not too many locals will want to attend.
Friday the 9th is the first party date, also end of Jersey Week, Veteran's day weekend, last weekend of Food and Wine, Wine and Dine half marathon and the Festival of the Masters. So people that come in for that, including locals in surrounding FL areas will most likely do that Friday party. I would stay far far away from that date if you have a choice. I am guessing it will be very busy. Everyone in town for Jersey week will probably do the friday party before they leave on Sat/Sunday. Same with folks that come in for the marathon or Food and Wine. We are planning to do the 12th instead- that will be a travel day going home for most, so I anticipate lower crowds. Friday parties are always more busy regardless, but with it being the first one and also all the other special events that weekend, it could be packed.
