Just how bad is it during Thanksgiving week run up...we are coming down the 15th through the 23rd...leaving Friday after T-giving....any thoughts??? We HAVE to come at this time because of college aged daughter...but I have to say...as I read...I'm freaking out that we will hardly get to ride anything. We usually come Veterans Day week...and LOVE it then.......now I'm getting freaked out.

I have read the crowd calander on TP: here is how to read it, the first line is the date, the second is the overall RESORT crowd number, then MK, EPCOT,DHS and AK

Did you do the week OF Thanksgiving or the week AFTER Thanksgiving??? We are arriving the Sunday following Thanksgiving and will not go to a park that day. I dont do well when the crowd calander says a 10 :scared1:

we did the week OF Thanksgiving almost 4 years ago. 11 of us, celebrating my dads 60th birthday, at one time there were 22 of us in our party :scared1:(friends met for dinner and Animal Kingdom the day after Thanksgiving).

It was crazy, but fun. I was the "fastpass runner", and back then we didn't HAVE to return within the fastpass window (we were scandolous, I know ;)) but it really helped with touring and planning.

Hi, we have been Thanksgiving week. We have a party of 12 so that makes WDW hectic anytime. The parks started getting more crowded closer it was to Thanksgiving. We did not visit the Parks on Thanksgiving Day. Make a ADR at one of the resorts or DTD that day. If you do visit the parks on Thanksgiving be there at the rope drop and go to your favorite rides first and just enjoy your day. If staying at Resorts use your fast pass on rides and you should be fine. We used our fast passes and rode everything we wanted.
Don't worry it is fun to be at WDW anytime of the year.:thumbsup2

What crowd calendar are you guys looking at to plan? We have to go "Jersey Week", as DS's are out the Monday & Tuesday that week.

I wouldn't rely too much on TPs crowd calendar at this time. There hours have been updated but their party dates and best/worst park days haven't been. I know the official party dates haven't been released but if they are occuring when MK closes at 7pm then TPs dates are wrong. Another clue to be unsure of the recommendations is the fact that they are suggesting MK is a best park on the only 2 days MSEP is showing the week we are visiting. If its only showing 2 days that week people will be flocking to MK on those days. (Just my 2 sense :))

Now that park hours are posted, I'd love to see people's itineraries, especially if they are going the same week as me - 11/13 - 11/18! I'll post mine as soon as I decide. I'm usually not too big on detailed itineraries, but since this is a grownups-only trip, and we are going to be making ADRs (and hoping for free dining plan), I'm going to rough something out.

Thank you all so much for your info and ideas. We were so used to having barely any waits for rides...to now thinking we would "waste" so much of our day IN LINES...I hope that is not the case. We have never been "rope drop" people...like our sleep too much...:rotfl:...BUT...I'm thinking this visit...we will BECOME "rope drop" people!!!! :lmao:

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. I really wanted to plan but until TP updates their info, I will just have to wait.

We missed Disney last year so maybe I'm behind....Are you saying we HAVE to return during the fastpass window, now??!!!??

Yes, really not looking toward to that. Check out the touring board, lots of threads on it. From what others have said that recently went, we are getting a 15 minute "grace period" for late fastness return times.

If I already have theme park tickets is the dining plan still worth it? I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and my husband and myself, I was thinking of doing the deluxe since we love doing character meals for breakfast and another sit down at dinner, but the deluxe is a lot of food :confused3

Good plans!!! :yay:
Thank you!

Awesome! I can't seem to get mine together. I thought it would be a piece of cake once the hours were out. :( Maybe I'll put it away & come back tomorrow....
Thanks! Putting it away and coming back to it later usually works for me. You also have us to run stuff by:)

I was checking on flights...just to see prices. I looked in October just to get an idea of how expenssive :faint: Its crazy $$$$$$! I just want the flights to come out before they go up anymore! Why are they being released so late this year  We have our park hours, now i want FLIGHTS!!!
I know! The prices are insane. I think we may drive.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

The shout out was heard mommyof3. :rotfl:

I have been running 90 to nothing lately and have even missed the release of the November hours. HEY THE SMILIES HAVE BEEN MOVED AROUND. :rotfl2:Now I'm the one going into push mode with deciding on my ADRs. I admit it........I have gotten quite a few giggles from ya'll and your ADR plans. Now ya'll can laugh at me as I scramble.

Hi there!

I am SO EXCITED to see your tentative schedule! We are going the exact same days!!! I may just copy off of you a little bit! We are staying at the Beach Club (our first time there) and are excited to be at Epcot's back door. We went 2 years ago during Jersey Week and the crowds were a BIT larger than the first time we went that was NOT Jersey Week, but it still beats the crowds and the heat of summer! :sunny:
Glad to see someone braving "Jersey Week". I have been there during this time before and it really wasn't that bad especially when compared to our July trip. And that year Jersey Week coincided with Super Soap Weekend and F&W and it still wasn't as bad as July. I think when compared to low crowd times such as the second week of Nov. or parts of Sept. then our week seems to be crowded but when you compare it to say Christmas/Easter/Pres. Week/ Thanksgiving/Summer, it's a walk in the park (pun intended;)).

I think these are the important things to remember for our week in particular:
1. Avoid Epcot on weekends.
2. Avoid DTD on the 9th, 10th, and 11th.
3. On more crowded days go to a less crowded park (i.e. we are doing AK on Sat.).

Feel free to follow some things on my itinerary, maybe we will even see each other there!

I've never been to BC but everyone seems to love it. I'm sure you will too!

I would recommend doing the Tusker House breakfast on a day the park doesn't open early for EMH. You'll have the advantage of being pretty far into the park when it opens, giving you better chances of being able to walk right on to the Safari, or Expedition Everest. I would aim for the earliest ADR of 8 am, but you'd still have the advantage of being there early even if you got one for 8:30. :thumbsup2
This is what I'm planning to do. I hope I can snag an early ADR!

Y'all should check out easywdw also,..Josh is really informative and very hands-on...

I second this:thumbsup2 I read in one of his posts that it should take him about a week to update the Nov. calendar on his site.

We will be there that same week!!! We could be sisters with our over the top detailed spreadsheets!!!!

Just a head's up that Josh's November Crowd Calendar is up. :woohoo: Heading down the 10-17th, for those who've been do MVMCP, do you expect a big diff. in crowd levels from the Thur. party that week vs. the Fri. party? Fri. would work so much better for our schedule as we leave the next day so easy to make it a "sleep in/resort" morning after the party. But of course don't want to be creamed by crowds after paying the $$ to attend. Would you completely avoid Fri. or should it not be much different than Thur. since they're only a day apart?

Keep in mind that there are a lot of locals who will attend the Friday night parties. This usually makes it more crowded than the Thurs night.

I'm not so sure about the hours for Thanksgiving Week. I thought MK was open till midnight Mon, Tues, and Wed before Thanksgiving Day last year. I think you can pretty much count on hours changing for that week the closer it gets. I have relatives and friends who like to arrive the Saturday before. They claim the crowds don't get bad until Wed. They complete they "must do" list early in the week and then go with the flow. I'm use to going during the slower times and wouldn't be there at this time except for the grandkids school schedule. But this way they wil only miss 2 days instead of 5 or 6. And we have to there on the 18th because that's DGD's and my birthday.

Prior to the November 2012 calendar coming out, I was referring to last years calendar to do some pre-planning for the week of Thanksgiving. Now that the November 2012 calendar has been released, I notice the main difference between the November 2011 and 2012 calendar is that November 2012 only has one Fantasmic performance each night at 6:30, but in 2011 there were two performances: 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Also, there is only one performance of the Main Street Electrical Light Parade at 9:00 p.m., but in 2011 there was also a performance at 11:00 p.m. Does anyone know if it is typical of Disney to wait until closer to November to add Fantasmic and Electrical Light Parade performances or if it is to be assumed there will only be one performance per night of these specific attractions?

I'm going the same time as you guys. I'm glad I'm not the only one braving Jersey Week :-)

We arrive around noon on the 2nd, and leave on the 11th.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

The dancing banana is gone from the front page!
