Good morning, y'all! Has anyone done the pick a pearl in Japan? I wanted to do it last time we were there, but the wait to pick the pearl was over an hour, and we just didn't have the time. I'm going to put it on my must do list this year.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, at Epcot in Japan, you can pick an oyster (for a small cost, of course). They open the oyster up and you get the pearl that's inside of it. The pearls range in color and size. They will set the pearl in your choice of settings (for an additional fee) or you can just take the pearl. Here's a thread all about it.

I know I want to do it, and I think it would be something special to do with DD.

Ok, talked to a very helpful CM, answered all my questions and checked out what it the better deal. To move from Sports to Animal Kingdom Lodge the difference is only little over $850. Now I have to convence DH to let me upgrade. The kids have no idea they are going in Nov. They know they are going to Disney World sometime this year but don't know when. Keeping my fingers crossed SH says yes.

Hope DH says YES!

We got a pin in the mail yesterday:

We got one about a month ago for 10% off. Emailed our TA to find out if this new pin helps.

We're still hoping for FD, we've got 6 adults going on our trip this year and FD will help out tremendously.

We did it on our honeymoon Oct 2010. We did it twice, and actually got 2 pearls the same size, so we had them set as earrings once we got home. The price for the pearl experience itself was not bad, but I was told by others to avoid their settings prices as they are higher than most jewelers

I know DD would love a carriage cage so I'm going to see if I can find a sterling silver one before we go and surprise her with it when we get there.

I want to do the pick a pearl too. I think it will be fun to do with my dd's. I had it on my list for our last trip, but we never made it to Japan.

I don't know when the public discounts will come out. That's a good question. I'm starting to think that's what I'm going to have to wait for!

We did the Pick a Pearl at Disneyland in California. It was nowhere near the "cool experience" with the drums and everything that you get in Epcot, and my girls were still crazy about it. I definitely recommend it!

Ok talked to DH, he says we are only in the hotel to sleep, but I think I might go ahead and upgrade us. The kids will luv it and plus if mommy happy then everyone is happy. That is what I say. So with that said I think I might just surprise him with a good cooked meal and spring the news on him.

Its been awhile since I posted to the boards. I have a 3 night disney cruise booked in November and want to add two nights at the Poly before we cruise. I am hoping to get a pin for that. Does anyone know if I get a room only PIN (let's hope ) does it usually require a minimum number of nights?

Also, is the Poly a moderate or delux?

I just wanted to add that we did 5 days at the all star music last November and it was really nice too. We took my DD for her first time. She is 5. I saw someone had posted about the photopass. I just have to say, DO IT!!! we were only there four nights and after i edited all the pics and added borders we ended up with almost 400 pictures for 99 dollars. Its sooo worth it.

Poly is deluxe. PINs usually have a minimum stay requirement if the nights on a Fri or Sat. I'm not sure of the details though.

Well, I couldn't wait. I went ahead and purchased two carriage cages off ebay. If I get a nice sized pearl, I will probably take it to our jeweler when we get back to have it set, but I think the carriage cage will be a fun way to wear it while at Disney, and I know DD will love it! If they have the sterling silver ones at Disney, I'll just buy her that and resale the ones I got. Otherwise, I'm only out $12 for both of them, including shipping. I would have bought DMIL one too, but she is allergic to everything except nickel.

I wanted to do the same, but could only find the silver plated. I heard you can put clear nail polish on them and they hold up pretty well, but I didn't try it. I paid too much for a basic setting on the silk chains for them instead.
