OH NO!!! My heart goes out to you. DH was out of work for an entire year, and just went back to work last September. I hope your DH finds something fast, and you are still able to go to Disney.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened to you! If it is any consolation the company I had been working at for 5 years just closed at the end of July and in the end it was one of the best things that could have happened to me. I got out of my rut and found a MUCH better job, I hope the same goes for him and that it does not take long to find a good one!

Thanks so much! I actually printed the autograph book with shutterfly. There is a link on the Designs board here for shutterfly templates which are so cool. Basically it has like Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet on one page with their images and boxes for their autograph. I was able to add the templates to my shutterfly account and then customize, selecting which ones I wanted and in which order. You can use as many or as few as you want. Of course, the more pages, the more expensive. We got so many compliments on his autograph book though and lots of extra attention from the characters. I plan to do another one for November!

Threeangels - what made you decide on the Yacht Club over the Beach Club? Just curious. We didn't even really consider both, we just chose the beach club lol but I would love to hear what made you chose YC!

We chose YC because we've heard it's quieter. It's a louder atmosphere at BC,so we thought it would be nice to be able to retreat to the quiet of the YC..... Both sound AWESOME, though!!!!!

Well, the maker of the cute hipsters I posted about earlier got back with me. She has an etsy shop, but her prices, while priced appropriately for the amount of detail she does, is a bit out of my price range. Instead I found a pattern online for a similar bag. I'm going to attempt to make one myself minus the applique. I'm not even sure if I'm going to do it Disney related. I think it will be perfect for DD to carry her autograph book around in Disney. Now I just have to find a backpack or something for DS.

I don't know. Both times, I was typing away and, all of the sudden, the iPad kicked back to the start page (?) and I lost everything.....

Good Morning! I haven't booked yet. I must admit the pricing is a bit scarey. I'm considering Wilderness Lodge, Carribean, and Art of Animation for 10 nights - I'm taking my 4 year old son and treating my Mom (she has not been there since 1978!). I have never stayed on property, my son has never been there and the last time my Mom was there only Magic Kingdom exsisted. So I'm hoping for a nice long trip Nov. 8-18 where we can take our time and see everything.

I want to start at the beginning and read this whole conversation I see there is much for me to learn. Thank you for the welcome and in advance for all the knowledge you're sharing.

OH and I"m on what I'm calling my Disney Diet so I'm in better shape to have the most fun possible!

Welcome! You will LOVE staying on-site. We love parking our van when we get there and not getting in it again until we leave for home, which is always a sad occurrence.

I'm hoping to afford 10 nights - anyway that is what I am planning for. How do you get a PIN??? I sent away for the DVD last year and again this week. Do they show up in emails, in the regular mail? I'm afraid I may have missed something YIKES

I see many are staying at POR what about Caribbean? Any advise for which would be best for 3 people, one is a seinor citizen who has issues with walking to far and one is a very energetic boy who will nearly be 5?

We LOVE POR, but it's also the cheapest option for a family of 5.

I emailed dh with the prices and options and how much I already had saved and how much I'll be making babysitting and disneydollars we've earned/will earn, so now he sees there won't be too much coming out of his pocket Even said we could do 8 nights!

I got to get off this computer!! I've been shopping online all day. I found some t-shirts for me on the Disney site, plus a couple things for the kids to put in their goodie box when we surprise them.

Then I purchased the tie dye supplies so I can make these. Wish me luck! I doubt mine will come out near as cute as hers, but I think it will be a fun rainy weekend project to do with the kids.

Think my question may have gotten lost/overlooked in all the posts,but can someone help me out with this, please?

If we have our trip already booked for arriving 11/17, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and they come out with free dining, but you'd need to check in by Thursday the 15th for it to be good for the length of your trip.... Would we able to change our reservation to check-in on the 15th and take advantage of the offer? I would love to extend our trip and it would be do-able if there were free dining, we would NOT be able to go for two days longer if we wouldn't be allowed to tack on the free dining. They did free dining that way for Thanksgiving week 2010, we knew nothing about it and checked-in on Saturday and had no free dining. When I found out later what we missed out on (on here), I was SICK.

If a room is available on those dates for that promotion you'll be able to change your reservation. Sometimes you have to be open to changing resorts to take advantage of a promotion, though!

Yes, you could add the two days if there was availability. My suggestion would be to add the two days NOW, and if it isn't offered, you can always change your reservations and cancel those two days. You won't have to pay the balance until 45 days prior to your arrival, and by then you'll know something. If so, you'll just have to call in to take advantage of the free dining.

Also, the minute you hear FD is offered, call! In 2010, I called two days after Disney released the offer and it wasn't available for my room type. I had to upgrade to a preferred room to take advantage of the offer. Disney only sets aside so many rooms at each resort for the FD. (At least that's what I was told.)

We enjoyed it and I think everyone should do it at least once. That being said, I'm not sure we will do it again. I just can't make up my mind.
The Christmas parade is wonderful. You can only see this Christmas parade at the MVMCP, and after the last MVMCP is held in Dec. It was my favorite part. The toy soldiers were great! The characters are all dressed up in their Christmas attire, and characters that rarely make appearance are there (Seven Dwarfs), but there are long lines to see them. There is snow on Main Street, but they have it at HS for the Osbourne Christmas lights also, and that's free with park admission. The party is from 7pm til midnight. Although in the past you could get into the park at 4pm with your MVMCP ticket, and I would expect it to be the same this year. Unless your family is able to stay up late and enjoy everything, it may not be worth your money. My kids were 2 and 5 when we went. They rested in their stroller (sat and watched the parade in it) so they made it til midnight. Oh! and there is free hot chocolate and sugar cookies. Was it worth it? Yes! I don't regret going at all. I'm just not sure if we will go again. If we do, it will only be to see the Christmas parade so DH can take pictures. (He does photography on the side.) Whatever you do, try to avoid going on a Friday night. That's when all the locals go! and they sell the most tickets for Friday night parties.

Well, I got one thing scratched off my to do list today! I updated my Disney packing list. I keep a generic packing list on a spreadsheet, and I updated it for things we will or won't need for Disney. CHECK!

Tomorrow I'm going to work on my picture itinerary. I have to say, now that I'm starting to feel better and not on so much pain medication, I am enjoying staying home. I could get used to this! I still have to rest and take it easy so I'm not doing much around the house, and I've been able to spend a lot of time on computer, reading, crocheting, and catching up on TV shows and movies I haven't seen.

I have not really started "planning" much yet. I have been there several times in the past so have a general tour plan I just redo every trip. On the other hand this will be my husband and stepchildrens second trip. I introduced them to WDW Thanksgiving week 2010. The kids are really excited to be going back.

My DHs sister and her family are joining us so in all we have 4 adults and 7 kids ranging from 13 to 3, as of now. There may be more join the group before the time gets here.

I have sort of glanced through this thread (boy you all are very chatty) and gotten some good ideas of things I might want to do this trip.

Thanks everyone for the pixie dust! I am hoping this is just a rut and we will be out of it in a few weeks. Im trying to figure out how to pay mortgage and bills till then but I think itll be ok-it always is
