emma9630, how did you get the AAA site to switch you to Dollar? I always get Hertz & they are way too high, even thru AAA.

In between the big Hertz ad and their rates, there is a link that says See More Car Rental Options. Click that and a chart comes up with lots of other options

Using Costco ID 7014627 and E-Coupon AD63637RM for $25 off total is $337. Dollar (click on city specials) is $339 (does not include free additional driver).

I just realized I may need a coupon at time of rental. What website would I go to for an e-coupon? And do you know if a you need to show a Costco card? I am a BJ wholesale club member, but not costco. Thanks again.

Am not sure exactly, but what I did was went to the AAA website, didn't sign in. Then I went to Travel, Car&Rail, then on the right the red button for "Book Today". It took me to a search box, once I put in my info it gave me a list of cars from all providers.

Just checked now and Dollar are down to $180 for a compact/economy or $186 for an intermediate!!!!!!!!

Weird! I just checked to see what the rate was and was about to report that the city special isn't showing up at all now...

Are you using a coupon code? I believe that the city special will not show up with a coupon. I just tried again for my dates and it was still coming up.

Must be date specific - we're looking for 10/31-11/10. It has showed up every single time I've looked in the past 8 weeks (at least once a day...).

1. On Advantage site quite a while back, I got Intermediate car for $155 week which became $190.94 total for 11/25-12/5/12.

2. On AAA just now, I got $147.81 for 1 week Intermediate car. But....got the total of $287 for same dates????? See copy below.

If $155 wk becomes $190.94, how does $148 week become $287 for same dates, same type car? Someone is padding pockets somewhere???

Dollar just keeps dropping! My 11 day minivan rental went from $402 to 394 to $385 in 2 days!

That you--I checked rates at Dollar for a mini van and booked it for 8 days for a total of $289. Beats $359 at Alamo!

That is odd... almost seems like the Advantage rate was missing the 3 extra days I'm not much help unfortunately; this is the first time I've rented a car in 10 years and it's very confusing!

FYI... for anyone traveling over Thanksgiving, I put in 11/23-11/30 on carrentalsaver and came up with $121 (plus taxes, etc) for a compact / $185 SUV with Dollar! May want to check it out!

Was the $155 for a week for for more? As you see in your breakdown, they charge a weekly fee and then you have to add on the additional days. It looks to me, like your option #2 is correct and something is not right in #1.

With Budget as long as the e-coupon is accepted when you make the reservation you are fine! You don't need to print anything and it will be taken off the total when you return the vehicle. It says so in the reservation actually.

1 thru AAA; 1 booked online direct with Advantage.
Both are priced for 10 days.
Both are for dates 11/25-12/5/12.
Both are for MCO.
Both are for Intermediate Car.

Here's the figures -
Advantage site - $155 WEEK; $190.94 TOTAL for 10 days
AAA site - $147.81 WEEK; $287 TOTAL for 10 days. (note the weekly rate starts out lower, but total ends up $96 more?)

So, of the two offerings - AAA started out with a cheaper Weekly rate but ended up with a MUCH higher TOTAL rate - doesn't make sense unless going thru AAA ends up with a much higher daily rate for the extra 3 days.

I just got a Standard size car through Dollar for $159.61 total for 11/10-11/18. By far the best price I've seen since I started hunting. No codes, no city special. Although the city special for a mid size was cheaper, we can't fit in a mid size! The compact was even less.
