November 2011 car rentals

If you're a member of BJs, you can use this too:

#7014696 and coupon AD8Z21SDB for $40 off a 10 day rental

Just went in and "modified" my reservation for an economy car, 11/1 -11/9 at MCO using Costco code (of which I am a member and have the card) and Rate code AA8X and the $35 off coupon code of AD2359FDF.

My total WITH an additional free driver and all taxes is (drum roll please) $92.72!!
That is a little more than $10 a day!
:banana::cool1::banana:

Hope this helps others. I have definitely found that using a rate code (AA8X) is key.

I'm not a costco member. is that rate code only for members or can anyone use it?? not familiar with using rate codes.:confused3

Okay, the best I've gotten so far was a midsize $84.27, dates 11/26 -12/1. This has held steady for about a week or more. Today I got a Standard for $89.91. And since this is with Alamo, I'll get a Full Size.!!! When I first booked back in June/July I had a compact for $236. Patience is a virtue!

It is crazy how codes and rates work for one person and not for another. Don't forget to clear your cookies and temp internet files before trying.

Good luck everyone!

Thank you Kris!
I just used those codes (11/23-11/29) and now I am down(for a standard) to $108!!!

actually the full was less than the standard today. I had the standard booked previously knowing that I would still get a full. I can't figure out why sometimes the better cars are cheaper--I guess it must have to do with their inventory??:confused3

I think it is because most rent a compact or standard car leaving less demand for the full size vehicles. I did rent a full size once (got a great deal) but it was really big and I felt like I was driving a boat:rotfl:. Now, I have to see the make of the car, before I accept a full size upgrade.

I made a new ressie and the rate was less expensive than my previous, went from $125 to $114.55 inclusive of taxes for a compact for a week. I DID try to modify it, but it was coming up as the same price. So if it's not coming up cheaper, try to make a new ressie, then cancel the old one

I am a costco member and would like to know what I have to do to get that coupon?

Sorry- I meant how do I get this coupon? I'm a Costco member.

Pickup/ dropoff days & times can dramatically change the rates as well. My rates are remaining pretty high and I don't have the flexibility with my times, as I pretty much need the entire 24-hour period (landing at 11am, departing at 1pm). One time I was checking rates and I made a typo - had us arriving 2 days later. It cut the rate to 1/3 of the rate I was getting for our 8 days (well over $200) to 6 days at $84! Arrgh, that was annoying.

Now I've got a fairly decent rate on premium car ($140) which popped up as a special one time when I was checking for compact. I had reserved a compact at $134 so I switched to the premium. What the heck!

I was quite happy renting a standard from Alamo using the insiders and Costco coupon (11/23 - 11/28) for $102 (I started at $350).... Playing around again with rates I got a new price drop to $78!!!!!:woohoo:

ALAMO INSIDERS 20% OFF FLORIDA RENTALS HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH DEC 7!!

Just rebooked my 11/26 -12/1 rental using this Insider ID code and the $35 discount. My total is now down to $78.81 for a Standard which becomes a Full sixe at MCO. This saved me another $11. Economy, compact and midsize are all still more expensive.

Hope this helps someone.

Mine dropped again down from 286.22 to 272.52 for a midsize at the dolphin hotel.... I'm thinking about dropping it to a compact where its 258.83 for 9 days. It's gone down from 328.50 not bad and I'm still 23 days away... keep checking... those dates are from 11/17-11/26 thanksgiving week is in there!!

The coupon is an e-coupon so there is nothing to print. I would bring my Costco card just in case though. Sometimes they have asked for it at the gate.
In any case...here is a link to the coupon ... https://www.alamo.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=Alamo_American2008specials-35-off
It is good until Dec 2012 for $35 off.

Kris

Thank you so much for this link. I was able to get a standard for $143 from 11/24 -12/3:thumbsup2 We have never rented a car while staying at WDW, always used Disney transportation. What kind of time frame should I expect from landing to arrival at our resort (Beach Club)? Is it faster or slower than taking ME?
Thanks again
Laurie
