November 2011 car rentals

I can't get anything good on Alamo for Nov 20-25. The non-Saturday keep and Thanksgiving must be the problem. I still have a midsize SUV on Budget for $188 but I am hoping I can get a similiar deal with Alamo.

Looks like rates are going back up??

I just took a look, and the same car I booked a few days ago for $95 (taxes & fees included, 11/12 - 11/20) is now $185.

I haven't been able to get under $214 for a compact 11/26 - 12/1. But this is so much better than it was back in June. Using Alamo Insider and code AD2359FDF. Might be a bit too early for my trip. Playing with dates, I haven't seen any big drops in prices past Nov 20. Still think it will drop more and hoping to upgrade to midsize. It's just the 2 of us so if that doesn't happen no big deal.

Just rebooked using the same ID and code for $196. Could have gotten a midsize for $201. Hopefully, this is just the start of lower prices!

Just booked Fullsize with Alamo for Nov 12th to Nov 20th for $88.00 using codes ID 430710 (Walmart customer) and coupon AD2359FDF

Thanks!! That code saved me $27 on my 9 day rental 11/17-11/26 now paying $286.22 for a midsize picking up at Dolphin!! I'll keep checking to see if it can get lower.

Thanks Again!!

WOW I just checked to see if my car on the 11th-20th had gone down by any chance, and it did NOT! It is over $100.00 more expensive. Yikes! Glad I booked it last week when after reading this thread.

Thanks to this thread, yesterday my November Alamo ressie went down from $593 to $370. That's insane. What's even insaner, today that same ressie with that same code is $911. Are they out of their minds? So glad I re-booked yesterday. And I owe it all to this Disboards. :wizard:

I have had a ressie with Alamo for an economy car for Nov 1-9th with pick up at the airport. It started at $250 but with careful watching I have gotten it down to $146, which I was perfectly happy with. I just kept going in and trying new codes. This morning I tried the walmart code #430710 (gives free additional driver) and the price went up.

So, I started a NEW ressie with all the exact same info and times and I got the same rental for $116. TOTAL. I am THRILLED.:cool1::cool1::cool1: I used the walmart code and ad2359fdf ($35 off) to get that price.

It sooooooooo pays to check daily.

I'm going Nov. 1-8 and I tried the PP's codes. Still getting rates well above $200. :confused3 I have noticed the same thing- that rates can vary widely, even in the span of less than a half hour. Tried all different variations of Insider number, member ID, codes, coupons, etc. They all come up high.

I have a ressie for $134 total but I was one of the lucky ones back in May who saw the rates plummet a the month wore on, and got a rental for less than $100.

I'll keep trying but I'm very grateful that I have a rate I can live with. Thanks to this thread!

You know what? Try using the half hour... I changed my pick up time to 9:30am from 9am and it went down immensely.

So, try using #430710 (walmart) and AD2359FDF and use a half hour time. It's worth a shot, right?
Good luck!

I just reserved a car with Budget by using my Capital One Visa rewards card. I had an intermediate SUV before for $209 total. Using the rewards card the total price was $182.99 (this is a non-Saturday keep reservation).
Just an option for those of you who have one. It's also nice to not actually have to pay "real" money for the reservation.

I just dropped this to $158.39 on Budget for my Thanksgiving mid-week trip.
I think if you go to Travelocity and book you get better rates than through the company directly. This is a Capital Ones Reward booking but it uses the Travelocity system.

Using Dollar, I just reserved a full-size from 11/27 - 12/3 for $148.96 total. I'm very happy with this. Without a Saturday night stayover, I'm not eligible for a lot of these rates, so I'm thrilled with this one. Previously, I had a minivan through Budget for $302. We'll see how these change as the dates get closer! Thanks for all the tips from everyone in here.

alamo rates are crazy right now!! I have a standard car booked for nov 2nd-11th for $148 which i'm happy with. when i check today with same codes that rate has gone way up but a premium car is available for $166 (its the cheapest, even less than an economy!!!) I'm wondering whats usually on the premium aisle and if I should rebook??? what do you think?popcorn::

We like Alamo, but rates for October are ridiculous. We don't need Orlando, but they are high in other places as well. We chose Dollar for out trip.

I think that people are renting smaller (for gas economy) and so there are more of the bigger cars available.

I went in this morning and again my rate dropped. I now have an Alamo economy for 11/1- 11/9 with additional driver for $105 total. But it all makes no sense.

Remember to try on the half hour AND clearing the cookies off your computer.

Good luck everyone!

My rate dropped another $70 today with Alamo. Compact $128.15, 11/26 - 12. Still using Insiders 7015135 and AD2359FDF.

BLOWN AWAY!!! It just keeps getting better!! My rates keep going down I love it! With my BJ's plus the AD2359FDF it went from 381.48 from Nov1-10 for a fullsize to 141.50 :lovestruc

NICE!!!!
It just pays to keep on trying....
So glad it is helping people!

Right now I have Alamo through Costco at $198.42 for a full size for 11/20-11/29. When I go to the Alamo site and use the codes on this thread, I'm getting a much higher rate. I'm ok with the rate I have, but will continue to look for a better deal. The weekly rate through the Alamo website seems good, but then the three extra days make it high.

Is anyone able to get good rates for a minivan? I have been trying for days & can't seem to find a rate for less than $500! We are renting the minivan from 11/7 (MCO) and returning it on 11/14 (Dolphin). Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

I just got an amazing deal !!! A 7 passenger mini van from Nov. 4- 18 for the grand total of $374.28 !!! I used a previous suggestion of booking on the half hour which seemed to help. I used the COSTCO ID of 7014627 and the Code AD2359FDF. When I first started looking at van rentals back in Aug. the best rate I got was $728.48. This new rate is almost 1/2 of that.
