November 2010 Code watch

Thanks  Fortunately (or maybe UNfortunately??) we drive to WDW. So, we won't need plane tickets or a car. But, we definitely want regular DDP, not QS, so I guess we need to book at a moderate resort? :scared1: We're such cheapskates, I hate to see the price differences from value-mod.

How busy is the week AFTER Thanksgiving? Did they have FD last year during that week? Thinking about week OF + week AFTER the holiday.

You should be able to get some moderate if/when a discount comes out. If you want to definatly be onsite though it doens't hurt to books your favored resort now and then if/when a deal comes out they can apply it, even if you have to change the resort to get the discount they will just move your deposit over. I'm not making hte reservation because if I can't get a great disocunt I'll be offsite!

.....and, Don't forget you can pick your seats when you purchase the tickets , direct tv and free snacks, we love Jet Blue :thumbsup2

Oh I did go ahead and book. $99 each way, leaving White Plains at 3:30 in the afternoon on Thanksgiving and returning the following Thurs. Direct flight both ways. Considering the 1st bag is free, you pick your seats for free and it has the tvs I had to book it. Usually I'd wait for SW to release their prices since we are equal distance from White Plains or Bradley but SW's prices have been high lately. I don't think theres a shot of them being lower than $99 each way. Especially the flight on Thanksgiving day! My daughters are so happy. They LOVE  the little TVs!

Waves to Seymour :rotfl: DH loves JB cause of the TV too, he is just like a lil kid :rotfl2:

No late nights? Those hours kind of stink. Oh well....we'll get what we want done I guess.

During times of lower crowds you can get so much more done in less time and it is nice not to be out every night till the wee hours , the year we went in Oct the hours were shorter and we did everything we wanted with more time to enjoy the resort too :)

We would like POP (mainly b/c of cost!) I'm assuming POP w/ full priced DDP is about like a moderate with FD?? Trying my best to get a code of some sort anyhow.

Don't bank too heavily on those hours. Last year the hours for our Aug trip changed twice before we went. The 2nd change had AK closing 2 hours earlier than the original hours. I had ADRs for the end of the night so 2 weeks before our trip I had to come up with a new plan. Then we get down there and coming into the AK that day they had signs all over saying they were keeping certain section of the park open for 2 additional hours. So I could have kept my original plan. Too bad that I had made ADRs in DTD instead! I was sooooo mad!

You know that for $10/pp you can upgrade to the regular dining from free quick service? So maybe book POP for now and depending how many people you are it may be less expensive to pay the $10/pp upcharge on free dining if they offer it... Just a thought.

Thanks! That is exactly what I was looking for . . . however, as I feared, it starts up again the Sunday after Thanksgiving. If that comes out again, I will have to completely re-book with one night hotel only on Saturday night and then a 5 day 4 night package with the dining starting on Sunday at WL. Maybe the GF or Poly on Saturday night only than then back to WL since we will save so much on the free dining if they do the same plan again this year. That would be fun :). I think I will have to pay another deposit though since it would be two reservations, but the dining saving would make it worthwhile.

Does a one night room only stay require a full $200 deposit just like the packages? That would be a large chunk on the one night stay.

The deposit for a room only reservation is the amount of 1 night I believe. Personally I hate changing resorts, I've done it a few times but packing and unpacking more than once I find to really detract from my vacation. Other people think it's fine though. While I'd love to experience more than one resort it's not worth it to me. Make sure you weigh the pros and cons before you decide to do a split stay.

Gosh I've been on this thread for too long today!

We usually stay 10 nights, so that would add $400 for 4 ppl. Hmmm...I will see!! Thanks ;)

Ohhhhh, I'm sooooo hoping this is what comes out for our trip this year! *crossing fingers* Question, though, realizing this is purely speculative: We are checking in 11/20 and staying through 11/27. Would the dining plan be free for the whole trip or only the first 4 nights? I know other free dining offers have been through the whole trip as long as you check in before it ends, but with it being a holiday, I wondered if anyone had any experience from past years to share? Thanks for feeding my Disney Neuroses!!!

Shout outs to Seymour and Waterbury!

I am jealous, I am going to miss White Plains airport. So easy to get in and out of! Our new "home" airport with be Detroit.

My girls are still little, so not being in the parks too late isn't so bad for us.

sjs314, how do you like AKV? Have you been there before? We were at SSR on our last trip, but want to stay closer to MK/Epcot this time, so maybe a monorail resort. AKL/AKV look amazing though!

Happy planning, and crossing fingers for a 4/3 or another good deal for the fall.

Never flew out of HPN before this will be our first time, but everyone says we will love it. We have always flown out of Bradley and last year JFK since we took JB.
I stayed at AKL for a weekend some years ago , it is a really nice place, even more so I think if you have little ones but I am excited to be going back and look around the new Kidani area since it was not built yet my last visit.
We stayed OKW last year and want to try SSR too. I keep thinking we should have booked BW maybe this trip since we plan on spending a lot of time at Epcot because of the F&W Festival :confused3 I know we will be happy at AKV, we rented a 1bdrm villa since my DDS and his wife are going with us and she is an animal lover, I can not wait to see MVMCP for the 1st time :santa:
I hope they do a good deal for you 4/3 would be nice huh? :wizard: sending a lil pixie dust your way :thumbsup2. I was lucky and got a pin for 20/30/40 % off back in January so I booked first week in Feb.

I know. I was just hoping for one late night. Why? I don't know :confused3

And I know the hours are bound to change slightly. But I was hoping more than Epcot would be open late the day we get there.

I'm just being whinny. Don't mind me.

we are going Nov 19 to Nov 27 and wish there would be a code. we are taking an extra disney adult with us.

We are already booked at POR with AAA but a code would be nicer

HPN is great! It's so small and just a breeze compared to any of the other area airports, even Bradley. There is only a very small consession stand once you get past security, so pack your own food if there's something special you want for the ride. And don't let people scare you about parking, we always seem to get a space in the garage. But the rates aren't cheap -- I think it was $125 for a week. They have a good website if you have any questions. I called the parking garage to ask the guys there if it gets filled up on the weekend.

SSR was great. My DD5 loves horses, so this was right up her alley. We've toyed with the idea of DVC, but we'll have to see how this move pans out first! AKV looks amazing, esp. the pools. We may have to sacrifce proximity for the AKV experience one of these days.

Thanks for the pixie dust! We'll go without a pin, but any savings will be nice. I'm planning on Nov. 6/7-13th, love those off peak crowds :thumbsup2 And I think F&W is still going on at that point too? Staying at BW/BC/YC would make that very easy!

We are planning on going to White Plains on Sunday and staying over night at La Quinta then taking the shuttle in the morning, parking at the hotel our flight out is at 6:30am.
The F&W Festival runs until the 14th, can't wait we have never been to it before, also MVMCP is on the 8th, 11th and 12th will be going to that on the 8th, for the 1st time....now if they just start the OL early this year too, this could be the best vacation ever
:cool1:
