November 2010 Code watch

Looking at going either in November or February.
Would rather go in November, but we will have to see what ds's school schedule will be.

We decided on Nov. 28th through Dec. 7th. I know that there is school but we only have one in real school and the other will be in a special ed preschool at the time. Im not a fan of missing school for vacations but I also know that this is probably the last year that we can do it. DD will be in 3rd grade and after this the work will get harder for her to make up and catch up with the rest of the class. We have told DD that if her grades arent good then we will have her stay with my cousin!!! She is working real hard to make sure that she stays on track. She doesnt want to miss a family trip that involves Grama, Grampa aunts uncles and her cousin! We plan on informing her school so we can get all of her work. We will drive down so she will have time to do work in the car as well as the early nights in the hotel room. The school system here will count her absences as excused if we can prove that she learned on the trip so we are going to have her keep a journal whiler we are there. We also plan on coming up with questions that are school reated and making it a game for her to find the answers in the parks. She will be learning a lot of world geography next year so I think Epcot will be fun for her. She loves learning about other Peoples. This year she learned about the Indians and was shocked to find out that our cousin is an Indian and lives on a Reservation in New Mexico. My cousin sent a bunch of stuff to us for her class and Kat was in awe! So hopefully she keeps her grades up and can come with us. I miss the days before she started school, when we could pack up and go wherever we wanted whenever we wanted. Oh the parils of being a parent lol. I have heard great things about the time that we are going. The weather isnt important to me as we live in VA right now and this past year we were wearing shorts on Thanksgiving! I am hoping for smaller crowds than the last time we were there!

Another idea for your daughter that would be fun for the entire family would be to do the Christmas around the world in Epcot. At each country they have a "Santa" come out and describe the Christmas celebration in that country. We managed to time it to be able to walk from one country to the next and catch each one as they came out. Can't remember which direction we were walking to make the timing so perfect. This is one of my favorite parts of holidays in WDW!

That is a really good idea. I remember having to do a report on Christmas around the world when I was in school. I can definatley work with this! Hmmmm, if not for school then this would surely make a great scrapbooking idea! Thank you so much for this. My mind is racing now!!!

I have been reading the boards, i got an email with a pin code for 20/30/40, for going in november. It mentioned november in the email, is this what everyone is talking about with pins? Is this a good deal for room rates? This is my first trip to WDW with kids, so I am really excited!!

Also if i use this pin can you still get free dining if it is available?

THAT is the PIN I am hoping for...so my answer is YESSS...it's a good one to receive!!! However...Disney will only honor one discount at a time...They do NOT stack them...so you have to choose which discount saves you the most $$ and then go with that one.

Congrats!!!:thumbsup2

Also, a good thing to know is that if they offer free dining and it specifies quick service dining for value resorts you CAN upgrade it to the Disney Dining plan. All you have to do it pay the difference which is usually about 10-12 dollars per adult per day and around 2 dollars per child per day. That is another thing to factor in when planning with Pins....Also, If you get a pin now and it is a good deal but another one comes out later that fits your plans and buget better you can change your reservation to reflect the new pin as long as it is available at your resort at the time you want to go. Remember the pins are based on limited availibility at the resorts so you will want to book rather quickly. Someone please correct me if any of the above statements are wrong!!!!!

I have booked my family in family suite at All-Star Music from Nov 28 to Dec 5. While I am looking forward to any type of discount, I have also read at some sites that Disney rarely discounts the family suites just because there are fewer of them and more likely to fill up. I am still hoping for a PIN, but even better would be the free dining plan. Last year I believe that promotion came out in July. The savings for 3 adults and 2 children would be much greater than a room discount. So keeping our fingers crossed......:hippie:

So jealous of all the November PIN codes people have been receiving (but happy for all of you!!). I'm still watching my email for a similar PIN, but it has been weeks and so far I've got nothing. :( Maybe Disney doesn't love me. :( If I go ahead and book our rooms for November, does that ruin any chance I have of getting the code?

I have also heard that it is rare to hear of a discount on a family suite at ASMu. I have also heard that alot of people who want the discount just book 2 adjoining rooms instead of the family suite. Would that work for your family?

We stayed at the ASMu Family Suite last spring break and were able to take advantage of the buy 4 get 3...then we got the Kids Eat,Play,Dine for free... because we were only staying for 6 days.....that ended up being cheaper.

The point is - while sometimes it might be hard....it is possible. We had no problem.

That's what we did last time when GS was 3 and it worked out OK; he slept with his mom. Now he's 5 and sleeping with mom is not an option and a full size bed is not large enough for DD and DS-in-law; he's a large man. I suppose it would work if we could find space for a cot or rollaway. But I haven't received a PIN either. I have 2 emails registered, I've saved vacations, requested planning DVD, and booked a trip all to no avail.

In 2008 that's what we had but DGS was only 3 and slept with Mom. He's 5 now and that is not an option. Value resorts only have full size beds in rooms. DS-in-law is large man and full size bed is not large enough for him to share with DD. I suppose it would work if resort would put a cot in room. But I still don't have a PIN....have registered 2 email accounts, saved vacations, requested planning DVD, and booked ressie. I have nada.

After complaining because DH and I have never gotten a pin, within the last week my DH has received two pins and we can't use either of them. :confused3

We are headed to WDW Nov 21-27! Decided not to chance waiting on codes and rented DVC points and staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas and couldn't be happier!

For anyone that got a pin offer, are there blackout dates for the beginning of November? What are the pin offers good for? Free dining or % off? TIA

The pin I got was for the 20/30/40 % off and the dates were For stays most nights 1/18–2/11/10,
2/15–3/27/10, 4/11–7/1/10, 7/5–10/7/10,
10/11–11/23/10 and 11/28–12/16/10.
Looks like just Thanksgiving week was blacked out

Hi everyone,
I have been lurking and reading for weeks. My 5 y/o gs called me last month and said he wanted to go to DW. What's a gm to do but start planning and booking?!
We have reservations at the THV and YC (for me and dh) and would love another pin code. I received one for qsd ending in Aug.
If I receive one for 40% off room, does this usually include THV? I did get a AAA discount for the first night. I realize I will have to have my TA re-book, etc which we discussed.
We haven't been back to Disney in many years. Have stayed at CR and BC in the past. I'm reallly excited to bring the little boys. They won't know until they arrive what the trip is!!
This thread took me days to read but worth every minute.
Thanks everyone.

Thanks sjs314 for the quick response about the dates!!!

Hi y'all!

I am starting to look for a good deal for November. Right after Thanksgiving is our most favorite time of all.

A good room only deal might be good as the QSFD was not all that great last time. It was not bad just not what we needed. All those darned desserts are so wasteful, for us.

That being said there is something to be said for no fuss, no muss Free Dining. We make a lot of new friends by giving that 'free' food away.

If you do not mind I will just hang out and see what comes our way.:wizard:
