NOVEMBER 2008 Code Watch...

That's true, and if this was an important family vacation I would have gone ahead and booked. We're only planning on 2 nights at ASSp for MVMCP after we drive DS back to college in Orlando after Thanksgiving (was that a run-on sentence? LOL)

I definitely don't blame people for booking their room as soon as they know they're going.

What dates are you going and where are you planning on staying again?

I'm waiting for what I hope to be a room-only code release before booking. We do already have our vacation booked through DVC but want to add a night onto the beginning and stay at a value for one night. We decided after our trip was booked that we'd like to come down a day early and visit my SIL. If we don't get a code, we'll just stay at a random hotel somewhere close by. It's not like there aren't a ton to choose from betwwen Homasses and Disney World :rolleyes1 Of course, I would much, much rather stay on property and start our Disney magic a day earlier and go to DTD or something.

Although I always make the reservations all pin codes we have been given have been in my Husbands name. I think they do it alphabetically because his name is first and then when we went with my father our last trip the next postcard came with our address with his name, which again would be first alphabetically. When I called to change the information to make sure that we would be able to get any future pincodes without my dad, I was told the offer was available to all that were on that trip. Hope they were right and that is what continues to happen if/when we get a code we can use.

No luck under his name either. Actually, the way she worded it was "no PIN codes for my household". Wonder if they wiped them all out under my address once I booked on-line.

Okay, I was wondering how this worked. Are you supposed to receive these codes in the mail, or get them on here?

Knock on wood.....I've been lucky years past with codes and applying them to existing reservations.....I have my fingers crossed again for this year!!! Go Codes!!

I just want to state to everyone that almost always there is a discount code for the general public. It should be out in a couple of weeks, so just hold tight. And from what I have read on these boards, the code for the general public is generally more of a discount (generally) than what you get for a PIN code.

Donnainnj: I don't believe they do it alphabetically. Over the summer, my mom, my older sister, and I all had PINs attached to our names.

LoveThatDarnMouse: I don't think there will be a code in your son's name because he is under 18.

New to the board-

I'm looking to bring my Mom (we went in '72 and 2000 together) and my 3 yr old - for her first trip. Can't wait! - Hoping for a code for the week before Thanksgiving. Any preschool tips?

:welcome: to the DIS! As far as preschool tips, what kind? Here are a few that have worked for us as we've travelled to the "world" since the youngest was 10 months:

If you can, stay on the monorail or at Wilderness Lodge (WL) for easy transportation to the Magic Kingdom (MK). Bring a stroller, if possible, if your child gets tired easily. Your home stroller is bound to be more comfy than the hard molded plastic ones at the parks, which are also pretty pricey to rent (like $15 a day). Plus you can take yours with you to the hotel to wheel your little one around. Go early, leave at lunch to rest (if possible), go back later on once the child (and you) are both rested. We still followt hat plan and our girls are 11 & 13 now. We like to take a break midday and return to the hotel to rest, swim, get ready for dinner. Dine either at a resort or a park then hit the park a little more when it's cooler. But most importantly: take it easy so that you can experience the wonder of Disney through your child's eyes! :) Enjoy!

Some get them in the mail; electronic or snail. Once they are release to the public, someone will post the code, timeframes and qualifications here. Traditionally they have come out in mid August. There is a page on Mousesavers that gives you the history of what they have been.

BeckWhy, I meant the actual e-mail, or postcard gets sent to the person with the first Alphabetical name, but it is great to know that your situation was the same with the pins being available to all in your party, gives me more confidence that the castmember was right and we will continue to get pins we can all use.
Thank you,
Donna

DH and I have been lurkers for a long time . . . I finally decided that I needed to come out of lurkerdom and join Disboards! We are going on a Disney Cruise Cruise right before Thanksgiving and decided that we needed to stay at Disney beforehand with out 2-year-old DS. Really want to stay at WL!

I don't even think the codes for October have come out yet? So November codes seem mighty far away:sad1:

October is weird, one year, think it was '05, they changed the AP code criteria where you could only book a certain number of days out, had the old code go through like Sept 30 then the new criteria wouldn't let you book until after like November 15. So bizarre, that didn't last lng though, thankfully. Historically, (or Hysterically, take your pick :rotfl), the codes come out around the 2nd week in August for the fall. I'll just hope for something better than my measly 10% AAA discount :)
