November 2007 Code Watch

Subscribing...

We're going 11/3 through 11/8 with the rest of the state.

I called CRO last night about switching resorts to CSR and they told me that the moderates were pretty much booked solid with only king rooms at CSR and a few standards at CBR. POR and POFQ are booked. Combination of "Jersey week" and the 40% off codes. :confused3

I just checked those dates on the Disney web site and all the moderates (including POR and POFQ) had all types of rooms available. I checked because that's around the time we're considering for our next trip, and your post worried me.

I keep seeing mention of a 40% off code for November 2007. Is there one that I'm not sure of? We are booked Oct. 31-Nov. 14 & I haven't seen a discount applied to my bill:confused3 Would love to know if there is a discount, that would help us soooo much :)

subscribing! We're going on our honeymoon Nov. 18th-26th. It's our first time and I just learned about codes so my fingers are crossed. We were reserved the the AKL, but are afraid of chancing the construction. So we're trying to decide where else to go. It's a ridiculously hard decision!

Hi we are going November 18-26. We went basically the same sates last year. Last year they did offer another special and we saved an additional 268.38 I believe. Thanksgiving is a very busy time . Especially Thanksgiving Day. We stayed away from the parks in the morning and then went in the evening. The weather last year was a bit cooler than the year before but my DD could still swim during the day. Just a heads up be sure to book your ADR's when you are able to as last year there were many disappointed people who had not done so and ended up not being able to go to the places they wanted to.It's a beautiful time to go with all the Christmas decorations. We love it!

we are going Nov. 7-12th. I haven't booked anything yet. do i need to wait until the codes come out or can they apply it after the fact? thisis our first time going to disney and my first time planning. i'm really confused! please help! :thumbsup2 i'm also a visa card member. what do i do with that?
thanks in advance!

okay, I reserved our room yesterday-need to mention not the one I wanted-they were all gone already! we ended up with a studio villa at WL. I wanted a 1 bedroom but no such luck. How do I save money on the room? WE are buying our tickets seperate and ordering groceries to save money but the room is killing us! Also, on my reservation it says a crib(not full size) and not guaranteed. What does that mean? I requested a crib not a pack and play for my son. Where else can I look for codes? I have a DV nothing there and the Disney people said I have no PIN with my name.
THanks!

What about renting points from someone. I had a very nice disser offer to rent points to me at BWV for a very reasonable price.

Book now so you'll be sure to have a room. Use your AAA card to get a small discount, if you have one. Then, when codes come out, you can apply them to your existing reservation. If you are not able to get enough of a discount on the room with codes, you can transfer the deposit you put down on your room to a cheaper Disney resort. This is all a lot easier if you book room-only reservations (just the hotel) than if you book a package (hotel + tickets and/or dining plan).

From what I've seen, the Disney Visa only gets you a few days' notice of discounts that are then made available to the public.

I agree with the other poster about trying to rent points for the villa from a DVC member on the DVC Rent/Trade board. Also, if you have your heart set on a one-bedroom, you may be able to find someone who's renting a reservation for a 1-bedroom during that time.

The most reliable source of legal codes (i.e. not ones that are attached to specific people) is Mousesavers.com. Also, you might considering buying an AP if you think the room discount would balance out the cost. The DIS, Allears.net and Mousesavers can give you an idea of the kinds of discounts historically offered to APs.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Thank you all for your help. What is the renting points all about? What are the points? I'm very new at this:)

Hello. You can go to the DVC section of the disboards. They have people that own membership at the Vacation Clubs that aren't going to use their points so they rent them.

Example: I wanted to stay at the BWV for 5 days in a studio Villa, Sunday thru Friday. That would be 60 points. They give you a price per point. You pay them and they make your ressie. There are also 1 and 2 bedroom. Those are more points. And weekends are more points. Check out the board. It is pretty intersting!!

Pineymom2-

ILMICKEY covered it!

I hope this isn't too OT, but it might help: What I did was go the the DVC Rent/Trade Board and look at the point chart (there's a link at the top of the page) to find out how many points I would need to stay at the resort I wanted, when I wanted. Then I started a thread requesting to rent the points from someone. (Read the sticky at the top first so you word your post right - otherwise, they'll delete it).

Another thing you can do is request a reservation during those dates. This means that instead of just having points available at Wilderness Lodge Villas, the member has made an actual reservation they can't use. This is a better option closer to the time you want to go, if you aren't able to rent the points you need.

Alternatively, you can reply to DVC members' posts offering to sell points ("I have 300 points at WLV that expire in December @ $10/point" - that kind of thing) and ask to buy the number you need. But I find that people jump on those very quickly, so you might get shut out.

... Back to our regularly scheduled November 2007 Code Watch programming... :rolleyes1

sorry to get everyone off track:) I just spent some time on the rent/trade board and myhead is spinning! I hope I can find something!
Does anyone have any tips on visitng in Nov.? It is our first time. Is it warm enough to swim? My boys are small 2 and 5 years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

The 21-24th will be "busy" (not Christmas busy, but you will have waits and fast passes will run out), the 25th (sunday) usually slows down to 5-10 minute waits to walk on for most rides. i am not sure how busy it will be 17-21st... I have never gone that much before thanksgiving! Might be busy with people there for the thanksgiving week.

I don’t want to sound like a complete idiot, but where do you find the code information? We are planning on going in November and would love to get a discount of some sort. Can you break it down a little bit for the newbie in me?

TIA!

It's still a little early for discounts in November. Last year I believe they came out in August, but you'll need to keep checking www.mousesavers.com and also stay on these boards!! These boards are absolutley fabulous!! I found these boards before we went on our first WDW trip with our DD back in 2004 and now I am a DIS addict!! :surfweb: Good luck and keep looking!!

Welcome to the DIS family! :welcome:
