November 2007 Code Watch

Here's my story:

Booked CR, Tower, MK view for 11/25-12/01, MYW with dining, 2 adults, 2 kids back in January. Price I got from CRO when I booked was $4259. I called AAA direct (since you can't book a package (just room) with AAA discount through CRO) and got the same exact deal for $3859 - a $400 savings. I thought that was pretty good, otherwise I would not have booked through AAA because I like to maintain control of my ressie!

So today I get the Disney Visa code and call my AAA agent and get voice mail, so I leave a detailed message. While waiting for a call back, I call CRO and just ask for a price on the same dates with the Visa code. The Tower is completely sold out for those dates (with or without discount) but I get a price for garden wing, which is only slighly cheaper than my AAA rate for Tower, so not worth a change to me. My AAA agent finally calls me back and has no idea what I'm taking about. I read her the email from Visa and she says "you have to call Visa direct." NOOOOOOOOO I tell her and we argue about it. She puts me on hold for about 20 minutes and comes back and tells me the discount doesn't apply to my dates. I know this is not true, but I am getting no where with her so I give up. Even though I know CRO is not supposed to be able to alter ressies done by AAA, I call CRO direct and tell them I have a AAA reservation but want to try the Visa Code. The very nice CM (thanks Rayna!) goes into the system using my AAA confirmation number and says that I could apply the Visa code to my existing reservation, but you only get one or the other (which I knew, just wanted to see which one was better). She said the AAA discount was very good and slightly better than the Visa code, so we left things alone. So in the end, I'm better off with AAA, but the moral of my story is this is why I HATE booking with AAA and giving up control to deal directly with CRO. If you are a travel agent, you would think you would bother to keep up on these things.

So if anyone else has a nice AAA discount, just know you are probably ahead of the game and stop fretting over the new discount codes as I have been doing all day!

Can anyone tell me what percentage of a savings you are getting? We booked our room with AAA discount and bought our tickets seperately through undercover tourist... We saved a good bit of money just doing this. I do not have a disney visa, but would definitely apply for one if it is worth the savings.:confused3
Are these codes just for a package?

I can't find the internet CSR deal. Has anyone had luck with it?

No. I've been looking too! I thought maybe it was one of those Travelocity deals that sometimes come up, but that wasn't it either. At least I 'think' it was Travelocity last time.

I saved about $100 + tax a night at the GF. The discount is on packages only.

I'll reply since misery loves company. It is package only...if you have your tickets, you could just buy one day tickets for everyone (which, of course, would eat into your discount). When I called, only the YC and BC were available for my dates, and I am booked at the Poly (I bought my tickets to beat the price increase:headache: ). Anyway, I'm comparing apples to oranges, but if the Poly had been available, I think it would have saved me about $400 for our 7 night stay, or $57 per night. I'm thinking it's about a 20% discuunt, as compared to the 10% that I got from AAA. I even thought of trying to sell my tickets on eBay, but since the POly is not available, I'll have to live with my AAA discount.

:santa: I saved $664 staying at WL!! I thought I had only saved $400.........but after doing some more checking........it is $664!!! :woohoo:

I am so excited. I can't wait to go!!!!

I'm a Disney Visa Card holder, I called and and used my code for my previuosly booked All Star Sports resv. & got apporx. 15% off of my package including park hopper plus w/DDP.

Thanks Missypie for answering! I got scared by the ticket increases and went ahead and bought tickets separately. My sister and her family have now decided they are going to join us though so hopefully the codes will benefit them!!:thumbsup2
Are all codes always on packages? I thought I was doing the smart thing by booking separately since we did not want the dining (unless it had been free of course!) and we are planning to spend 2days in US and IOA we didn't need WDW tickets for the whole time we are there! Are there ever any room only codes? :confused3

WL was no longer available. AKL was no longer available for discount.

I was however able to book POR - MYW package wo dining.
For 13 nites...I previously had a package with dining.

Im kinda comparing apples to oranges too :teacher:
but for anyone interested.....my changes were.

FROM
MYW w/dining & 10 dys ticks at CBR. 11/19 - 11/30 total of 3983.30

TO
MYW wo dining & 9 dys ticks at POR. 11/19 -12/02 NOW 2283.24

I was able to stay more days!!! Cost between two packages is significant, but about 900k is dining and ticket diffs...but Its a much better deal for my family. The way the DDP is getting Id rather pay OOP anyways...

Whoo Hoo!!! Back to POR!

I called this AM to see if I could downgrade my Disney Visa special from a courtyard view at WL to a standard (which was what I'd originally booked). Even though the upgraded room is still cheaper than my original ressie, I'd love to save another $200-$300 dollars by going back to the standard room...I called this AM and they only had 1 courtyard room available.

The rep I spoke to has been there for 4 years, and said that the system updates overnight with any cancellations from the previous day. She also said that it's been her experience that many rooms seem to open up around 2-3 PM every day, although she wasn't certain why.

It seems like it's all about timing...one minute it's there, the next minute it's gone...

Any word on AP rates yet today? Nothing is on Mousesavers yet, but I know the Disney Visa code wasn't up yesterday until later in the AM. Maybe I'll call CRO just to check :)

OMG I was gone all day yesterday and all kinds of things break loose!:scared1: Im so sick  I didnt get right in on this after waiting and waiting. :headache: I have to wait for my TA to open so she can applie the discount. I hope I can still get something! Do I just tell her its the visa card member discount?:confused3
Thanks Nettii:goodvibes

Yes, Nettie, just tell your TA that it's the Disney Visa cardholders discount. Although I wasn't able to apply the discount to my current reservation, I was able to create a new reservation at the same place with an upgraded room (and still saved $242 off the original pkg). You may want to ask your TA to consider upgraded rooms if your exact package isn't available (may still turn out cheaper than your current pkg).

Good luck!

I also have the Disney Visa and with the codes that we got yesterday, we changed from POFQ to CSR and saved an additional $250 for our party of 4 adults, 1 child, 1 infant. We already had a AAA discount and our AAA agent said that the codes wuold still save some money on top of that discount but we would have to change to another mod since it wasn't available for POFQ, so we went for it. Not a huge savings, but the price of our desired flight hasn't changed at all and is more than we wanted to pay, so we can use the savings towards that. Plus, I really wanted CSR in the first place!;)

For those of you waiting for AP rates. I just got off the phone with CRO and she said not today, but very soon. I guess we already knew that, but I always like to get confirmation ;) I was hoping it would be today because I teach and start school tomorrow and won't be able to call until 4:30 :( We really want to upgrade from Pop to CSR
