Hi Macca77 :wave2:

Welcome to the DIS and to UK Trip Planning :teeth:

Are you going in early November or late November? There are a number of people who are currently planning trips for October/November this year (including myself) so I am sure you will get plenty of help with your questions :)

We love visiting WDW at that time of year as the weather is still nice and warm, but not too humid and the majority of rides and attractions are open. Generally one of the WDW water parks is closed at this time of year though :(

Not too sure on some of your other questions at the moment but I know there are plenty of knowledgeable people on here who will be along shortly to help you out :)

Have fun planning.

Hi We go on nov 2nd till nov 17th so start to middilish. I take it most of universal rides will be open aswell. Just dont the little 1 missin out on any top rides thanks

We've been that time twice now - 2003 and 2005.

The weather has been in the high 20s both time although cooler in the evenings.

Disney will always close one water park during this time - the last few years it has been Blizzard Beach that was closed but this might change. I like Typhoon Lagoon best anyway so no complaints from me!

I'll try and answer some more of your questions if I can below:

Will all the rides be open going in november we will be doing all the parks and maybe busch gardens if we get the time. It's quiet season so there may be some closures for rehab - Disney will publish their closures in advance- but universal keep it a secret for some reason. I think Jaws is destined to be closed and at least one of the water rides at IOA will be. We did Busch this last trip and I think a couple of the smaller coasters were shut.

Thanks :)

That's probably a good a place as any to find out about Florida in November! I'll hopefully be updating it with a few more days later in the week ::yes::

Hi macca and welcome to the Dis :)

I always make sure my children get lots and lots to drink to avoid dehydration, but we travel in August when it's far easier to get dehydrated. It's a good idea to get as many fluids as possible in them though I always think, both at home and abroad :)

I can't help with the Universal character breakfasts, but as far as the Disney ones go, I would say it may depend on what "kind" of 11 year old he is - if he is a "cool dude" might he think he is a bit old for them? The Spidey one at Universal might get around that problem, though ;)

Thier face first time is priceless. Absolutely wonderful :goodvibes

Thanks miffy i think thats what we are looking forward to most is his face. I think he will like seeing mickey and donald and toy story charachters so if there is one of them there i would take him to see that. But yeah can see him beng to cool for winnie the pooh and others. Where outs me and my gfriend 25 and 26 arnt to cool for any of the characters we like seeing them all lol

Macca - there is a (very) strong rumour that a Toy Story character meal is going to be starting at Disney MGM Studios :)

We always enjoy Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort (right next to the Magic Kingdom) which has Mickey & Friends visit during the meal :)

Ok, character meals, I give another vote for Chef Mickey at the contemporary because the restaurant is large and the spread of food good, it moves and is less "stale" then other places. The most important thing is that they have: Mickey, Minney, Pluto, Goofy, Donald and chip and dale, and they all dance and do a show!! its great.

If you like pooh, I've done the chrystal pavillion at the magic kingdom very early in the evening (around 4 pm) we got so much attention from the characters I couldn't believe it, and the food was not great but OK.

Another consideration is there are so many meals now, that you may want to research by characters, there's a lot of princess ones that I think you will want to skip with a boy, buy there may be new ones we don't know about. That being said, we usually stick with chef mickey.

The weather will probably be fair and pleasant but remember there's a remote chance of hurricane type weather. I don't think you'll get a full blown one just a lot of rain as happened to us once in november. Turned out to be the best day ever. We went to the park in the pouring rain, it stopped and cleared and we had the park to ourself.

I have been to disney over ten times with my children and this is what I advise. You're not parents and its important to know, that a trip like this can bring out the worst in kids. The major problem is this. Most children even ones from liberal families have some sort of schedule or pattern they are used to. You are going to take him across the sea and several time zones. You are not going to eat on time, not go to bed and then subject the child to excessive stimulation and sugar. I am not in any way suggesting that this is bad...just be prepared the child may misbehave at some point or get cranky its not his fault. (by the way the same thing will happen to you) I think that you should all sit down and decide, what your favorite rides are and what can you not miss and sort of lay out a plan. What if the line is too long, what will you do? What if someone feels sick or tired? How long will you stay in the parks? what type of food do you want to eat and when. In addition to water (and bring your own, its over $2.50 in the parks) bring some snacks...this helps kids (and grown ups) from getting cranky. I really woudn't worry about dehydration since he is older but how great of you to think of this. Sun block would be another thought. Some families practice walking to get everyone in shape. The physical rigours of the park are something no one is used to. Of course I'm sure you'll have no problems without preparation but these tips will help things go smoother and what a great treat for him.
