November 2, 2013 - Disney Fantasy 7 night Eastern - Cruise Meet

Hi babyblues425,

We are also DVC members, traveling from the NYC area but haven't decided yet on driving or flying. Anyway I would chose what fits best with your flight times and least amount of traveling on the bus. I'm also confident in Disney that the magical express will get you there on your scheduled time. If you choose a dvc location don't stay near the MK to temp yourself. Perhaps Animal Kingdom?
Hope this helps.

Wow your door looks great. I've already found some good things on pintrest.

Regarding the photo frame, I guess you ask them to sign when you check in? or guest services? Are there characters around the ship signing books like we see at WDW?

Yes to both. We brought the frame to guest services right away after the sail away party. The dream was only a 4 night cruise so I wanted to make sure to get it submitted right away. We asked for as many characters as possible and crossed our fingers since I read most people only get the fab 5 or the princesses.

However the characters also make many appearances Round the ship and on castaway cay and sign the books as well. We didn't want to spend valuable cruise time waiting in line on the 4 night but... This time we are getting the shutters cd so we will make time lol

Wow...just had a look on pinterest! This looks funner than trading vinylmations!!

How do you hang the basket on the door?? when they say only magnets?

Sorry I'm a novice.. I'm also learning to navigate this site.. How did you post my quote before your answer.

thanks again.

did someone say Vinylmations?:thumbsup2

one of our favorite sets...Thanks to Cass!!

Thank kimanwar. I think were gonna stay at the Hyatt the night before and take the. DCL transfer in the Am
Thank you again for your advice

wow those Vinylmations are super cool.

Are there specific cruise themed ones only for sale on board? or is it the same as in the parks/stores?

My DH & DMIL will also be staying at the Hyatt the night before this cruise. I will be at WDW & will join them on Sat. morn at MCO to catch the the DCL transfer to the port too.

I still remember getting that sucker! Total fluke that I was able to grab two as they were literally flying off the shelves!::yes:: :thumbsup2 People were freaking NUTS, I thought someone was going to get hurt  :faint:

Someone mentioned getting a Cabana at Castaway...

unless you are concierge or Platinum members, it is VERY hard to get one of those suckers! They are often gone by the time the Gold member window opens and very rare when Silver window opens, so forget it if you're a new cruiser :worried:

But you can always head to Guest Services as soon as you board and get yourself on the waiting list. Ya never know ;)

Hi - Such great Vinylmations! Do they trade on board, just like the parks?

Also thanks for the info on the Cabanas. I hate to say this but Disney really makes it difficult for a first time cruiser, unless you go concierge which was not available for our cruise, it seems almost impossible to book the "great" things.

Do you or anyone out there know if this will this be the same for making reservations at Remy or Palo? if so any advice?

Thanks again,
Kim

Don't worry if you have trouble booking things in advance. You can get almost anything you want as long as you book it right when getting on the ship. On a 7 nite cruise it shouldn't be a problem to get Palo/Remy or any of the other services if you take care of it right away.

They'll give you a navigator when you check in which will list where to go and/or call. I have never had this fail on a cruise longer than 4 days.

Hi Scott,

Oh thanks so much! I was getting worried we wouldn't be able to do some of the special things. I know Disney wants everyone to be happy! : )

Kim

I was worried that we wouldn't get the mixology classes and stuff since we don't board util about 2:30 since we will take DCL transfers from SSR

Hope to see you there, I will be the crazy Disney lady waiting at the DCL counter to open up....:rotfl2:

DH and I have decided to fly down the night before the cruise and are staying at the Hyatt....Has anyone done this and do you know if we will need to get our luggage at the airport or will they store it?

This will be our 2nd cruise on the Disney Fantasy. My husband and I, my parents and our 3 kids 10,8 and 5. Our 1st cruise was the Oct 2012 Fantasy cruise that was unlucky enough to get stuck in Hurricane Sandy :worried:! We are not going to let the bad experience of our last cruise deter us from cruising with Disney again:)!!! On our last cruise we didn't know anything about the Fish Extenders, but our children were upset that we didn't get involved. We would love to get participate on this cruise Nov 2 2013 but not sure how to do so. Anyone that can give us some advice it would be greatly appreciated!

PM me your information and I will add you to the FE group. I will need adult names, state room numbers for those participating, I've not been asking for children's names, but ages. If your parents are also participating, I will need their info as well.

As far a how to particpate, that is kind of up to you. You put a Fish Extender outside your door (handing on the fish--hence the extender part). Our lists are limited to 20 rooms per list. So I'll be splitting the lists up closer to the sail date. You can leave "goodies" ranging from one per stateroom or one per person per state room. One for the cruise or as many times as you like. The other participants from you list will do the same.

Some people have asked to be on all the lists, but this can get to be quite a few as I think when I update the list we may have over 40 participating staterooms now. We also have a facebook group page. If you PM me your email address I can add you to that as well. If you want more info on FE's in general there are threads here on the Disboards that can give you a lot of information plus picture examples. You can also find people who make the Fish Extenders on Etsy.

Welcome aboard!!!! We're glad to have you along!

We're on this cruise, as well as one sailing on 5/25. For the 5/25 cruise we worked with DCL to have our own mixology seminars and response was so great that we're having TWO to accommodate all the people that want to go. As it gets closer to sail date this can be arranged (contact info below).

We also set up our own DISboards Meet & Greet. DCL is letting us use D-Lounge and will have a sign outside stating that it is a closed event. We have the lounge from 2:00 to 3:00 on embarkation day. For reference, and no, we decided not to do it, you can have a character there for $550/30 minutes. You can also have a photographer for $85, but you still have to purchase the pictures. You can't request an officer to appear ahead of time, but can ask at Guest Services when you board, so that will be my first duty on embarkation. You can always ask, right?

So would we just show up at the lounge or do we need a 'secret knock' to get in?

I am having awful Disney withdrawals...lol...it has been 6 looooooonnnnnggggggg months since we have been. I must be addicted...it's all I think about. Only 163 days until Disney and 169 days until our first Disney cruise

AFAIK, nothing has been set up for this cruise. I don't know if it's too early to start reserving an area yet. I didn't reserve the room for our May cruise until about a month from embarkation.
