Oh, Nancy! - that's just what the doctor ordered!!

Is all of St. John that beautiful? I can't wait to see it!

So now you have me second-guessing our dinner arrangements; early seating misses the sunsets?!

And BTW Sunday was a *much* better day at work than Saturday!

Thank you for the welcome.

I have been on DIS for a really long time so I have alot of posts out there but yes I have been planning a few cruises and for one reason or another had to cancel, usually we have had a friend decide they want to cruise with us but won't pay the price difference between Carnival and DCL so we have always changed. This one will remain we aren't telling anyone we are going :) we have wanted to get back to DCL and figure a fairly new ship is a great step :)

Loving the photos!!!!

Kim

Wow, That seems so long ago!! We sure miss you guys.

Miss you too!

Hey everyone! (you too Robin.;):stir:

thanks to a little help from Cass,(ok a lot of help;)) we've booked a 4 day Dream cruise in Dec..

this will give us the cruise fix we need till Nov 2013. :sail:

we're thinking a day and 1/2 at the parks, then 4 day Dream, then 4 days after the cruise back at the parks for holiday decorations.:santa:

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!:wizard:

Sounds good to me! :woohoo: Can we stowaway in your luggage? :rolleyes1 :cool1:

Ok been away from the boards for a bit..think I am all caught up..there has been talk about driving in and where to stay night before sail date..do most of you who fly in come in a day prior and if so where do you stay? how do you get there and how do you get to terminal next morning?
thanks this will be our very first Disney cruise so all new to us;)

We usually spend the week before in WDW so we always rent a car and drive to the port. Usually we stay the night before right at the port and drop off the car and take the rental car shuttle to the port. Not sure if we will do that this time but if we do, we will be staying at the Residence Inn, love it there! :thumbsup2

DH and I will be booking this cruise. We will be travelling solo. I am Kim will be 47 at time of cruise and DH Mike will be 50. We will actually be in WDW for his 50th in January for the marathon.

Our very first cruise on on Magic and we went away from DCL and cruised Carnival for 8 cruises and now have decided to come back to DCL for a very late 25th Anniversary and Mortgage Burning Cruise.

We are thinking of a few days in WDW pre-cruise, does anyone know if we can get magical express to take us to Port or some sort of similar disney transport?

I will go back and try to read as much as possible to get to know you all better.

Kim

I remember you guys too! I'm sure you had signed up for the Konked Kruiser cruise in October 2007, no? :confused3

:welcome:

Is that Trunk Bay Nancy?

It seems to me there are three schools of thought:
*arrive the morning of the cruise
*arrive the day before cruising
*get in a couple of days at WDW before you cruise.

My first cruise was with family who were seasoned cruisers, and comfortable flying out of Indianapolis at 6am (THROUGH ATLANTA!!) and arriving in Orlando at 10:30. I was a nervous wreck! That's not the route for me...

For my second cruise (last December, when I took two newbies) we flew in the afternoon before we sailed, in part because we were afraid of the possibility a snowstorm could delay us. We stayed at the Hyatt inside the Orlando Int'l Airport, and it was lovely! -- pricey, but lovely! I considered that $200 overnight stay an insurance policy against missing my $3000 cruise.

DH and I are considering where to stay for "our" :grouphug: cruise next year, and staying at the port seems attractive, especially now that I know a small group goes out at O-dark-thirty to greet the ship as she returns to port the morning we sail. How romantic! Transport to and from the airport to the port will not be on the Disney bus (which is NOT free, like the Magical Express) because he gets bus-sick, but more likely by towncar or perhaps a rental car. All the rental companies will shuttle you to the ship.

Where to stay at Port? Many here recommend the Residence Inn, so I'm planning on booking it one year out from our sail date. I've read good things about the Country Inn & Suites, too. The hotels at Port all seem to offer a shuttle service to the cruise ship, but tons of people will be crowding onto those little shuttles (which is just another word for "bus"...) and I'd rather be in control of my own transportation...

Just an FYI, whatever you choose: It's really important that you literally don't miss the boat!! If you're on the Disney bus and stuck behind an accident or an open drawbridge, they will hold the ship for you. If you're in a rental car right behind the Disney bus, it's probably tough nuggets...

Welcome to the group! You'll *love* your first Disney cruise!!

Is that Trunk Bay Nancy?

That was Coki Beach. It was not a planned stopped though. We stopped there for awhile and got to enjoy it because of two newlyweds on our taxi bus. Sometime I'll have to tell you about them. ::yes::

Linda, on our first cruise we did the Hyatt thing too and took the DCL bus to the port on Saturday morning. It was super simple for these first timers. As much as we loved the Hyatt we branched out and stayed at the Cape somewhere the nights before our other cruises.

We have an awesome picture from another cruiser from last year's "Welcome Home the Magic" meet at the pier. I have training classes this week so I gotta run, but I'll look for it tonight or tomorrow and post it for you. He had an awesome camera and got a fantastic shot of the Magic as it passed us. :)

especially now that I know a small group goes out at O-dark-thirty to greet the ship as she returns to port the morning we sail.

We also refer to it as "the butt crack of stupid o clock". :lmao: (Although, when we "speak" about it we change the noun from butt to.....).

Mike,

I posted yesterday on your FB but meant to post here too...

:cake:party::bday::jumping1:

Hope you had a great birthday :grouphug:

Hope Addi has a great one today too! pixiedust: 7 now? princess:
