November 2, 2013 - Disney Fantasy 7 night Eastern - Cruise Meet

Robin and i were checking yours out last nite.:goodvibespopcorn::

too bad about that 2007 one..i have fond memories of that cruise.:cheer2::dance3::lmao:

I just reread all of yours last week :p

Yeah, I bet you have fond memories....at least ONE of us does! :badpc::mad:

That WAS a good one! I read it this evening in a few hours here in the ER with my son.

In the one I read before both Rob and your daughter were sick... Remind me not to shake hands with you guys LOL!!

LOL, it's all my hubby's fault :rolleyes2 :lmao: I think he psyches himself into getting sick every trip :scratchin

Hope your son is okay! :flower3:

:welcome: to all the new cruisers! :cool1:

Nice to see you here Miss Robin :wave2: :goodvibes

Thanks for posting pics Mike...sure makes me wanna cruise THIS year and not have to wait until next year! :guilty:

:mic:

Okay, that's enough posting for me....feel like I am talking to myself again! :rotfl:

:lmao: Sorry, we only made the ressie for 2.

We'd be glad to offer a glass of vino for each of you at our villa (VWL) if you'd like. :)

darn!
oh well, you can buy us dinner on the ship then.::yes:: (oh, wait, thats 'free".)

Oh! - so jealous you're going to Animal Kingdom Lodge!

We have more of a Port Orleans budget (although we are branching out and trying Coronado Springs this year) because I'm a nurse, not a neurosurgeon, but we splurged a couple years ago: We celebrated my son's 21st birthday and my 50th with a Club Level stay at AKL!

I wrote a nice trip report about that trip, including the Sunrise Safari, but it's on that *ahem* other board as well.

Lovely memories :)

Robin has told me numerous times i'm in "dyerneed" of a brain surgeon.::yes::

On my last cruise vacation with my sons we flew to Orlando the day before we sailed and stayed at the Hyatt MCO (swoon...)

I will be sailing with DH on this cruise, and he is threatening to drive to Orlando (gasp!) -- teasing me with an overnight visit with DS1 in South Carolina.

Other than the obvious discomfort involved in spending 15 hours in a Prius chewing on my arthritic knees, I am a total newbie about the hotels at the port.

What are the best hotels? (which also means: where do all the cool kids stay?) where do we park the car? - at the cruise terminal, or will the hotel have long-term parking and a shuttle bus? And how crowded is that shuttle going to be? And how much does parking cost?

What do you do for fun the day before we sail? I mean, other than cocktail time... Is there a nice place for dinner?

Should we be booking a room soon?... It seems to me the smart people will book early, since so many people plan on arriving the day before.

Please share your experiences!

We like to get a rental car at the airport on Thursday before the cruise (we use Budget), stay overnite and do the park a partial day Friday, then head over to the port Friday nite..so we can do our 5 am "Welcome home of the ship"..then return the car to Budget by the port and take their shuttle to the Terminal..We do like the sleep number beds at Raddison (but the hotel itself seemed a little more run down then the previous time we were there), but still nice..The Residence was very nice too. Cost a little more than the Raddison but you did get the free breakfast..(but no bacon.:sad2:):lmao:

I've found over the years anywhere we stay is fine with me as long as i'm with Robin.:flower3: (that should get me a few smoochers eh?:smokin:)

I love staying at the port somewhere and watching our ship come in (VERY EARLY) from close to Jetty Park on the morning of our cruise. Mike and Robin did that one year and we've done it with them ever since. Great memories there!:grouphug:

good stuff! great way to kick off a cruise!!:grouphug:::yes::

To Timon-thanks for the link to Navig.

to the question to stay before trip: in 2008 we stayed 2 nights at All Stars than drove to port and dropped off cars at Avis (thanks goodness we were on Disney- Carnival ship came in 8 hours late. They sailed in during Life boat drill. Avis was not taking their new cruisers cars and Port was not letting them to terminal.) After cruise we picked up new car from Avis went to Downtown than Airport for late flight home.
We are thinking of driving down (16hours-18hours) and staying either with family or on property, all depends on flights and cost. Southwest is the way we usually go, but flight schedules and cost was crapy this year. (we orginally planned to sail this year, but had to change for many reasons.)
If we after to stay some where else thanks for all the Hotel suggestions.:wave2::idea:

This reminds me of something important to tell first-time cruisers: if you're debating how to get from the airport to the ship you should seriously consider taking the Disney bus ( which, unlike DME to the Disney World resorts, is NOT free of charge); if there is for example a traffic delay they will hold the ship for Disney transport passengers.... Anyone else stuck in that traffic jam in a limo, private car or rental car will miss the boat!

HEY!!! Those Oct. 5th cruisers are already on their second thread!!!

Are we going to let them out-post us?!

October 5th this year or next year? If this year we will over take them no problem, next year we will come on strong in the last month! No Worries!
