Looks like Hurricane Emily is bearing down on two of our cruise destinations. Grand Cayman and Cozumel are both in for some of this one.

Does this mean we might have a 3-stop at CC? Or an extra day at sea? (Depending on if GC or Cozumel is badly damaged. I hope for those citizens sake, it won't cause too much (damage.) :sad2:

Last year we were one of the first cruises to re visit GC. If we could not go there, we would have gone to Costa Maya insted. Which would be fine with me. I am glad I got to see the stingrays, but I would not mind visiting Costa Maya.

I was in Grand Cayman in March and it was in ok shape, but a lot of hotels were still closed, etc. You could definitely see the effects of the hurricanes.

I wonder what the alternate port would be if Cayman wasn't an option.

Kris

I was wondering this awhile back -- I didn't think anyone knew the answer.

Costa Maya would be nice, I suppose. I've never been there so don't know what it is like.

I'm still :cool1: over my hard-earned weight loss of 15 lbs. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is so hard for me to lose weight!

Is there anybody out there??!!! :rolleyes1

Kris,
Congrats on your weight loss! I am back on my low carb again, after a Summer of pigging out. I need to get on the ball before November. I lose pretty easily, but I gain even easier! My goal is 20 pounds before the cruise.

Willie

Good luck Willie -

Summer is a hard time to lose weight, isn't it? Too many bbq's.

Have you tried the low carb beer -- if so, how is it?

I weighed 96 lbs. when I got married at age 30 - LOL! Don't think I"ll see that again, 4 kids later. But reasonably close would be great :-)

Michelob Ultra...Yes, I tried it and tried it and tried it! But I just could not develope a taste for it. This of course was after my wife stocked my beer fridge with it. Then I found out that Miller Lite only has a tiny bit more carbs, anyway. So my buddies that drink Mich Ultra got some beer last year.
It is strange, because I usually like ANY brand of beer! I even enjoyed the Superior brand beer we had on the Fury Cat in Cozumel.

(ALERT-ALERT! Beer conversation held without input from Lampskies!)

Now, this REALLY worries me! He must be in a jail somewhere without hi speed internet service! :confused3

Willie

Hopefully they have Miller Light in the "jail" w/ Lampskie!!

Kris and Willie--I wish you the both the best on your weight loss journey!! I keep trying to lose weight...but it always finds me again!!

Chuck's favorite "light" beer is Beck's light--less than 70 cal per bottle.

Hey ya'll! Hope your weekend is going good! We're enjoying a lazy one here!

Kris and Willie...way to go on the weight loss! I am with ya both...lost 20 so far and my endricronologist is pleased...coming off slow means it will stay off better. It's been hard the last couple of weeks with too many goodies around the house. My blood sugars are staying within the goal the doc set which is good.

It is quiet on this thread with Ron not popping in for many days. Hope all is well with him and the family.

Just wanted to ask ya'll because I think I read it some where in theis 105 pages, but no way I'm gonna go back and look...are any of ya'll going on the 10 day Christmas cruise in 2006? I think it debarks on December 16...maybe it was Lampy that is on it. I can't remember. But, I think we might be headed there...just have to check into the cost v. points thing so we'll see. So, if anyone can shed some light on this for me I'd appreciate it.

Hi Laura -

Good job on the weight loss, yourself!! Feels good doesn't it?

Well, its not me going on the Christmas cruise. I think after the Thanksgiving cruise that will probably be it for us.

We're doing this one because our September 2004 cruise was majorly messed up by Jeanne. I didn't feel that we really had the Disney Cruise experience on that one. So I booked the Thanksgiving cruise in hopes that with TWO scheduled stops to CC, we might have better luck of actually getting there - LOL!

But our next big vacation will probably be to the east coast next summer, I'd like to get out west to the Rockies and the Grand Canyon some day....the Pacific Northwest -- so there are too many places we have to see!

Hugs,
Kris

Hey Kris,

We're headed west the week after next. I'll let you know what it's like. My kids have never seen the mountians. It will be interesting. We're headed to CO Springs for a few days for some figure skating, then a week in Breckenridge (DVC). We plan on doing lots of hiking, some Mt. Biking, gold panning and riding the alpine slides... and drinking a few high altitude beers (not as many as the Lampster).

I'd love to see Costa Maya in lieu of GC.

Hope all is well with everyone. It's hotter than ---- here in the Midwest.

Ok, I got my first taste in a while of the " I WANNA BE ON MY CRUISE!" feelings yesterday. We live about an hour from Galveston Island, and we rented a beach cabin there for a week.(I am driving in to work each day)
Well, yesterday we were sitting on the beach watching the muddy waves roll in, and we saw the Carnival Elation, and then the RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas go sailing out on 7 day voyages! My girls were yelling "Wait, you left us! Come back!" We were feeling homesick for the Magic.

Ron is the one that is sailing the Magic 10 day Christmas in 2006. That would be a fantastic trip of a lifetime, in my opinion.

Doug, the kids will love the mountains. I hear that there is as much to do in Summer as there is in Winter. Have a great trip.

Like I said above, I am driving the hour from Galveston to work this week, while Kelli and the girls hang out at the beach. But the Galveston beaches are pretty crummy. We get somuch sediment from the Mississippi that the water and sand are brown. But, hey it is close, and it is still saltwater. Even though there are LOTS of sharks.

Doug -

Your trip sounds like its going to be great. I will be very interested to hear some details when you get back. Have fun!!

Willie -

Sharks!!! Its Shark Week on the Discovery Channel and I made the mistake of watching a couple of the shows. Scary. Some of the footage of sharks was filmed in the Bahamas.

Which got me to thinking....that stingray excursion...just wondering how it can be that you are brought to a sandbar with food and you feed all these rays there -- wouldn't that attract sharks? I was never afraid of the ocean before, I knew I shouldn't have watched shark shows.

Good question. I wish I knew the answer. We were at GC stingray city last November, and it was about waist deep water. Plenty deep for a shark. I have caught sharks many times while surf fishing down here in 2 feet of water. But the water at stingray city is SO CLEAR that you would see one clearly from a distance. And there are alot of people there that would be yelling if a shark came cruising around.
I have a funny shark story for you guys. I am mainly a freshwater angler, but I go a couple of times a year with some friends to surf fish the Gulf. This is where you walk out and fish in waist to chest deep water. Last summer we were in water a little over waist deep when I hooked a bull shark. It was only about 2 feet long, but it ran right towards me on its initial run. It just kept coming straight at me. It ran between my legs about 3 inches below my crotch. Of course I jumped up as high as I could to allow him to go under. Then he came up behind me shaking his head. My friends were laughing at me jumping and dancing. I did drag the little %#$&* up on the beach, and then turned him loose. My buddies had fun telling me that the shark was feeding on only small shrimp that day, so he thought he saw lunch. ha ha.

Doogie, Willie and all......nope no jail time just yet....LOL Just benn absolutly CRAZY at work with these employee purchase programs going on. One of my girls was on vacation and we had an "outside sale" and to make things worse all advertising has to be o.k.'d by a corporate atty due to some class action lawyer here in Chicago.....YUK!!!! And me too have lost some weight, but just because I've been on a liquid diet!!!
Doogie, I still have time to take the vette out for a couple hour ride once a week......been doing the 12 beers and heading to Southhaven Michigan with the top down and cruise controll set!!!
Already have 50 hours on the boat also....me and a the neighborhood teens are out every Sunday and Wednesday....I call it babysitting :rotfl2:

Lampskie-welcome back to posting!! We were wondering about you???

Doogie-You will love your vacation in Colorado!! That is one of our favorite states!!

We hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer!! As usual this time of year in Florida it is hot, hot and hot!! Thank God for air conditioning!! Our son has 2 more weeks of camp and then a free week before he starts first grade. We decided that we will take a last minute vacation to one of our favorite places--WDW!! We love WDW so much that we had our wedding there!!

Has anyone thoought about excursions yet? The 90 day point is coming up. We are thinking of the sting ray trip in GC and the Fury in Cozumel. We are also thinking of parasailing again this year at CC. Willie-are you going to try this year?

Please let us know any other suggestions.

Chuck and Lisa

Does anyone have any ideas for Hotel transfers from MCO???? Tried ORANGE TRANSPORT last year and was extremely disapointed. We will be staying at the Radisson in PC and flying in on Friday during the day. Any suggestions????

Travelling with DW and DD4

Hi everyone!!! We just got back from our weekend. Unfortunately it was not a good one. DW and I went to Port Canaveral area for the weekend to get away. Her Saturn SUV broke down when we were just leaving the hotel to come home. Ends up being the transmission broke and the SUV is in Melborne getting fixed. We are now back in Gainesville until it is fixed. What I want to say related to this board is this...it was very strange not to see a Disney ship at the port. The only ship there on Saturday was a Carnival ship. Lampskies, I could have used one your beers after DW SUV broke down. It was hot, hot, hot!!!!! BTW, her SUV only has 23,000 miles on it!!! :confused3

ME? PARASAIL UP THERE? Uh, I don't think so. But Kelli and the girls are all going this year. I had much too much fun guarding the hammock while everyone was gone. I had some great naps that day on CC!

Yes, we have been doin some thinking about shore excursions. Last year we used Capt. Marvin for snorkeling and Stingray City, and it was great. But we are open to suggestions. And we had a blast at Paradise Beach(Coz), but it was kinda crowded. I think we are gonna do Fury Cat. We did Fury in December of 2003. I say we find a snorkel trip at each port, and take over the trip with DIS Boarders! I know we had looked into a private charter, but those look to be about $100 per person, where we could just all book the same excursions for much less. We only paid about $35 per for Capt Marvins last year.(Booked direct with him) and I think the Fury has to be booked thru Disney is about the same. But still it is pretty cheap considering beer and margaritas are included. The excursions are much more fun when you have a group of friends together.

How about we through out some ideas for group shore excursions, then we can plan some together?

I will contact Fury to see how many we would need to get a private Cat of our own, and how much the cost would be. That way, we would be able to stay longer on snorkeling or beach.
