A fellow Chicagoan!!?? Awesome! North or southsider? Cubs or Sox? LOL!

Doogie -

Yikes, that scared me 'specially because I just got off a Norwegian ship a couple weeks ago - eeek!

Doggierunner,I just sent you our information I just realize though I left age out.Mine I would love to leave out-Big 40 next month, and dh is 38.Let me know if you need any other information.Site looks great. This is the first we have heard of Norwegian cruise ship. That is pretty sad.I hope we have calms seas in November or at least calmer then what we experienced in December 2004.They say we are in for another bad hurricane season here in FL,and they are predicting it will be worse then last year.We hope they are wrong.

Buddy Bear-DH and I aren't sure what excursions we are going to do this time around either. This is our first time on Western.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Maria

Maria -

Yow, I don't see how it could be much worse than last year, do you? That sounds mighty scary.

We experienced Hurricane Jeanne and this is what made us decide never to cruise in September again!

Kris

Kenny-Thanks for thinking about us and our search for Lumpy!! My DS would love one of the larger lumpys rather than the small bean bag lumpy. Please let me know if you get a large stuffed Lumpy. Thanks again!!

Kris-I grew up in Skokie-north of the city. My dad is a Sox fan and the rest of my family are Cubs fans. We actually used to go to both Cubs and Sox games growing up.

Maria-I hope the predictions about hurricane season are wrong. We put up our shutters labor day weekend last year and didn't take them down until October!! We didn't know if it was day or night when we were in our house!! However, we were very lucky b/c we didn't have any storm damage where we live.

Oh sure, I know where Skokie is! I had breakfast at the most fabulous deli/breakfast restaurant there once. I wish I remembered the name of it. It was a "mom & pop" type establishment and the lox & bagels were heavenly!

Hey Doogie,
that was a good article about the freak wave. I stayed up last week watching a documentary about the cruise ship Oceanic that sank back in the early 90's. It was a freak wave that brought her down in about 24 hours. The Captain and crew hauled it before they notified the passengers that there was even a problem. Luckily they were able to rescue the 500 pax two at a time by six helicopters. It was a great documentary with reinactments. The cruise director and a musician were the heroes.

Oh, yeah, since Thanksgiving will be THE BEST CRUISE OF 2005, we will have weather as good or better than we had for 2004. (Which was near perferct.) So this year the weather will be absolutely perfect!

Buddy How did you make out on the airfare? did you do anything yet?

Actually we did not bad, but I have gotten better prices when it wasn't around a holiday. We fly out from Philly (US Air) the morning before the cruise (18th) and arrive around 10:30 AM.

Since US Air is one of the few that charges half fare for infants we spent $266 round-trip for the adults and $133 for Sarah. The overall price was not terrible because of the half fare but last year in August for same flights we only paid $163. Regardless we are just happy to have a flight locked in.

We are renting a mini-van and driving to Port Radisson. Once we check in we will take the car out for a spin and check out Ron Jons and Cocoa Beach.

I'm glad things worked out! We are on the flight after you which was leaving at 9:00 but is now listed at 9:20.... and we will also be at the Radisson that evening.

Maria....southsider here for the record.

Buddy bear, sounds like a beach excursion is your best bet. The only bad weather was when we played "drunkin' ping pong" at 2 in the morning....

my DD will be 9 just shy of 10 (Dec 17) and my DS will have just turned 8 (Nov 2) which is one of the reasons I selected this cruise so that hopefully they get in the same group... it is the only month we have that luxury....

Actually DCL is very lenient about allowing siblings together even though based on age one should be in the Oceaneer's Club and the other in the Lab.

LAMPSKIES - Yeah, your'e right. I think a lazy day at the beach is the way to go.

Buddy bear, better pack some extra sunscreen......Beach day on Sunday at CC the GC on Tuesday then Cozumel on Wednesday and back to CC on Friday..... :sunny:

Willy - thank you for the forecast - I have NO reason to believe otherwise - Texans never "lie" now do they ?

I also saw the article of the sweeping waves and just thought - okay that is done and over - (probably only happens every 100 years or so)

I am "sticking with" Willy who is now my favorite weatherman :teeth:

Well since this is my first cruise I went by what DCL told me on the phone... they said it would be easier for my oldest to go down to the young group but at that point they really should both be in the older group... they said they could not guarantee anything as many children would be on that cruise and the rooms fill up with the age they are meant for....???

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels... that's funny I just heard that sorta quote for the first time last month when someone told a co-worker that "thin feels way better than that will taste" when she was pondering a sweet. Words of Wisdom!

Yes, many beach days for us.

We also like to go shopping for souvenirs so if there are good places to go and get out of the sun for awhile let me know.

Buddy bear, Cozumel was the best last year....if you like to negotiate. GC was a little pricy last year they had no inventory and that "supply and demand" thing wasn't in our favor.

O.K. now I need to ask a question.......with all this "10 story" wave talk going on help me out seasoned sailors.......We have sailed 4 times, Eastern, Western, bahamas all with DCL. I don't EVER remember a day of rain at sea. The waves were a little rough on our 03 Eastern on Thursday and our sailaway party on the same sailing was a little chilly but everytime there was a "storm" the captain simply drove around it!! Has anyone ever been caught in a storm? Rain?
