I knew I bookmarked this sucker somewhere!! To all newbies...(it's only my 3rd cruise) this is a WEALTH of info. to make your trip go smoother! Wish I had it last yr. for my 1st Dis Cruise! I packed WAAAAY too much, and worse, I put it all into suitcases too big to shove under the bed so they were always in the way! :(

No, DCL said they will not be offering excursions to Cost Maya. We're on our own... actually, according to one sight, we'll be there w/ a few thousand of our newest friends, as the RC Explorer of the Seas & the Carnival Miracle are supposed to dock there the same day, (at 7 & 10 am respectively). Ugghhh! That doesn't make me really happy for us all to be in such a small place on the same day. Coz or Key West, maybe...but Costa Maya...they may be overwhelmed! Anybody else hear about this?? I got my info. from the site I'm trying to book a Chacchoben Ruins tour with; www.chacchobenruins.com. The guides David & Ivan come HIGHLY recommended (they've literally lived there all their lives) & the reviews on CruiseCritic were raving!!

I guess we'll be beach bums if the tours are already booked up.

For you guys who are under the weather...have you tried "Airborne" Formula yet?? Created by a schoolteacher, herbal preventative/remedy, take before you go on a plane, crouded area, cruise ship, etc. or once you feel bad. Boosts your immune system way up to fight off the crud as well as end it faster. Get it at Wal Mart or drug stores for around $6. Water soluable-2 flavors. Works for us!! I haven't been sick in YEARS!! (Knocking on my head while saying this! )

Still no Docs in Dixie :confused3

GET BETTER!!

I'm going to take cash, not even the traveler's checks I usually bring. I"m seeing photos of little huts selling things and they probably want cash only, is my guess. Well, I suppose I could bring traveler's checks and just cash them on the ship before docking. But at any rate, while in Mexico I will use cash.

I was in GC in March and used Traveler's checks and credit cards there w/o a problem.

Kris

Will TODAY be doc day? I hope so or I'll have to wait a whole weekend!!!

I just booked reservations for an excursion at Costa Maya. I booked a "Beach Break Party for cruise ship Passengers" day at the Tequila Beach. The website is

www.mayahualtours.com

When you get there scroll down for pics of the place. Looks very clean. Here is what I booked, and the costs seem reasonable.

2 adults Beach break- alcoholic drinks included- $25 each
3 children Beach Break-nonalcoholic drinks included- $20 each
5 X "Mexican Feast" includes nachos, cheese quesadillas, french fries, sandwiches all day- $10 each
5 X snorkel trip leaves from the beach club for 1 and half hours snorkel the reef - $20 each

Total spent $260.00 paid by PAY PAL

It was a little confusing doing the reservation form. I had to do one adult and the children, then add the second adult to the shopping cart. And I had to put the date in the comments section. But once I got it fugured out it was pretty easy to book online.
I wanted to go ahead and book a trip because it may be pretty crowded in Costa Maya since Cozumel and Cancun are closed. There were 9 cruise ships scheduled to be in Cozumel the day we were. So they will all be going somewhere.

Goofyhouk-I see you will be very close to us by staying overnight in Lake City. We are in Gainesville, only 30 minutes away. If you are taking the Florida Turnpike to the Beachline (used to be called Bee Line) also called SR528, remember to bring around $6.75 in tolls for both toll roads. That is one way, you will need the same for going back.

DW and I would be up for the Beach Club. Even if it's not a group thing, we'll end up going there.

Sorry everyone that DW mentioned 4 weeks instead of 3 weeks. I think the excitement is getting to be too much for her. :earseek: :rotfl2: :earboy2:

OOOOPS.. To any who read my #2650 post, please re-read, as I have had to edit it!!! :badpc: I am now fully aware of the results of trying to type late at night when I have too many distractions!!!! (DS8 is now always trying to look over my shoulder reading other's posts while I write on this forum- afraid he might miss something I guess!!) DH winced at the green shirts, but I assured him he would not be standing out in the crowd!!! Pam

(besides after a few "boat drinks" don't all the shirts start looking alike????)

Willie-I just made our reservations for the Beach Party and the "Mexican feast". Thank you for explaining about the ordering process. I agree, it was a little confusing. Since it's just the two of us, I had to put DW in first with the Party and the feast then "continue shopping" and put my request in. What's strange to me is when I look at the request, it only has a "1" next to the feast yet it has charged me for two. I realize now that it means I have 2 requests for the same order. At least I hope that's what it means!!!! :confused3

so here's what we have:
2-Beach Party
2-Mexican Feast

Charlie

Charlie,
I think that Doogie and 5J's are joining us at Tequila Beach.

Anybody else?

Willie

I just signed up for the Beach party (Tequila)...you guys are right!! It's confusing to sign up but I figured it out....I was just about to call Willie and say 'HELP"!! But I just saved a phone call...not that I don't want to talk to you Willie, I'm trying to save $$ for the trip! :teeth: :teeth:

The funny thing is...it doesn't have a place to put the exact date. hmmm...

Hello All- I was just looking at a trip report from the 10/15 Magic on the DCL trip reports section of this board. The writer mentioned that upon checking she was assigned to a boarding group by number, and not being able to board until the group number was called. Another poster said that the numbers were not based on order of arrival at the terminal. What the heck? Has anyone heard anything about this? I was planning to get to the terminal early, and have been assuming that I would be able to get in line and wait to board. I know some of you have friends in high places at DCL-is this something that we will have to deal with on our cruise?

Oh yeah, and Congrats to The White Sox. We Astro fans were just thrilled to finally get over the hump and win the National League.

You Sox fans (Lampy) will appreciate the following story.

In the early 80's I had my first job in outside sales selling paper goods like paper cups, toilet paper, paper napkins, etc. One of my accounts was the Beaumont Golden Gators, an AA Minor League baseball team for the San Diego Padres. (It was sold and moved in the late 80's) I was in my early 20's and became friends with some of the players on that team. They had a really good team for a couple of years and some of the players I used to go honky tonkin with ended up doing pretty well. One was a Venezuelan prospect named Ozzie Guillen. A catcher named Benito Santaigo and a first baseman named John Kruk also were on the team.
Ozzie lived in an apartment next door to my best friend and he was a pretty funny guy. I remember he made alot of errors that year though! We used to give him a hard time about it.
So, I was glad to see him do so well in the series, even if it was against my Stros.

Bill,
PayPal is a more secure way of buying things online. It is easy to set up an account. That way the seller does not have access to you acct numbers.
PayPal pays them and you pay PayPal. Most folks that buy stuff on Ebay, etc use it all of the time. (My wife uses it TOO much!)
I think that the Beach Club site had a link to join PayPal, or you could just use your credit card.

Hope this helps.

For those lucky enough to have their documents, what do they say about getting on the boat in shifts.

Willie-Wouldn't it be kind of funny if we wore our bright green shirts to the Tequlia Beach and the people there saw this massive wave of bright green shirts coming at them? :earseek: They probably would tell us to go back to the ship because we scared other people away!!!!! :rotfl2: :confused3

Re Lime green wave

last year I wore a lime green DIS Boards shirt at sailaway and a lime green shirt sunday at CC. That evening I said hello to some DIS 'ers I had met and they did not recognize me at first. They said it must be since I was not wearing lime. They must have really associated me with that color in their minds!

Willie

Bill, at least the Stros won the NL! This sunday I am taking my daughter, nephew and friend to use my season tickets to the Houston Texans! Now, they are painful to watch!

We are all set!

Just made reservations for a rental van from airport to the Radisson on Friday. We're arriving pretty early on Friday, so it will be nice to have transportation. And as it turns out, it is cheaper to rent the van than it is to hire limo service. Although I suppose with the cost of gas, it will be about the same. But, again, we will have the luxury of having the van all day Friday.

I also reserved our limo service from the port to the airport on return.

And a day room at the Orlando Hyatt since our flight doesn't leave till 6 PM. We did this last year and it was great to hang out at the pool and/or take a nap in comfort rather than sit in an airport chair for 6 or 7 hours!

Now I feel like we are ALL SET!

Ready to roll!

Kris

I say we show up all together :grouphug: at the future cruise desk on the first day and say
"What is our Volume DIS-count!" for next years cruise!
Then they have the rest of the week to Impress Us With Their Quote! pirate:
