Hey Lisa! QUIT LURKING AND POST! We need the posts to hit 4K! :cheer2:

Willie

Oh yeah, I gotta start talking smack now- HOOK EM HORNS!

Happy anniversary you guys this weekend! Are you doing something special?

Yikes! Just read the trip report Lampy posted this morning. Maybe we need to get in on the Tequila Beach excursion. It sounds like they are overwhelmed.

and BTW - what are you going to be reading - still haven't found "the book" I'll take yet :goodvibes Lampy - I know, it's the Miller Lite label for you :rotfl2:

Great question Granny! I will have to go through my home library of books I have picked up at yard sales over the summer and choose one. I love those $1 books - much cheaper buying them than paying those library fines I always seem to end up with.

To quote Oprah:

"What I know for sure" --

I know I'll for sure be bringing an Oprah magazine. I have a subscription and those magazines are so big that I never seem to finish one before the next arrives.

Kris[/QUOTE]

I have a Toni Morrison Oprah book club book that I will be bringing and in case I finish that one I have a Carl Hiaasen book my mom gave me. That ought to keep me occupied while laying on the beach or by the pool. :cool1:

Me (tonya), I am an administrative secretary (code for Girl Friday) for 3-4 attorneys. DH is a full time student. (He's suppose to graduate in December) On the weekends we have about 30-50 employees at Lake County Soccer in Springfield. We manage and assign the referees for the outdoor league. (That's where our vaction money comes from). We are both certified soccer refs (DH is much better than I).

DH Birthday is November 30, DS birthday is November 25

Gas here is $1.99-$2.09.

tonya.

7 more days for me.

Oh good, we still have formal night! Now if only those 50 pounds would come off this next week so that I could take my slinky long dress - the one that I haven't worn in about, oh, 15 years! (notice that is how old my eldest is - I blame her! ;) )

I don't care how bad present cruisers think Costa Maya is, my family and I will still find something to enjoy there. It is an area that has few inhabitants compared to other cruise ports, and is pretty much undeveloped. I am excited to see a destination that is not yet built around tourism, and we will keep an open mind, which is what I have always urged my daughters when we go to a different place on this earth. It is a wonderful gift to be able to go to other countries and be amongst the people there, no matter how short the time, and no matter how different they are and how different the surroundings are. My family will just have to make the best of it!

May I add, only 7 more days and our long drive begins!! Yippee!!! Just hoping the weather forecast is good for the drive down and back - I really, really detest driving through high winds and snow. No matter, 1 more week!!!!

Kathleen- I like your attitude! This is exactly what I have tried to impress upon my children when we have previously cruised. We all take for granted how good we have it in the US. I often read trip reports complaining about conditons in various ports, especially Nassau. Unfortunately, the majority of the people who live in the ports visited by cruise ships live in poverty. And I mean real poverty, not what we call poverty in the States. Nevertheless, most of the people you encounter will be genuinely friendly. We will have a great time wherever we visit. The key is to expect that it will be different from what you might be accustomed to.

:sad2: Sorry guys, but there will not be a third t-shirt order. Not enough interest. We are still going to have a sea of green!

OK _ Well for a job I work ina manufactruring plant (military batteries and charging systems) - I am Configuration - It's my job to make sure they are buidling things to the correct revision. It always comes back to the paperwork.

I also sell books on Amazon and Ebay.

We lived in Iran for 3 years and have visited several islands like St. Lucia, BArbados,Aruba, St. MArtin, Nassau.....

I want to hang a map and put push pins in it.... my goal to fill the carribbean with pushpins.

Anyway - It's always sad and a wake up call to see the level of life many of these people have.

Just finished reading 'The DaVinci Code' - I will be bringing 1 or 2 of his other books with me on the ship. Also the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
So when I see the new attraction in MGM "Chronicles of Narnia", I will understand what I'm looking at.

Well back to work for a bit.

Hey Willie, howz that elbow...maybe I can find you some leeches in the jungle while I'm exploring...I've heard they've got GREAT medicinal purposes...the little 'suckers' might help get some fluid off your arm!! :rotfl: Just a thought! :)

Laurie, thanks for the offer for the leeches, but I think I will pass. :earseek:

Oh, yeah, re: Jobs- My unpaid job for the last 8 years has been as coach for DD's competitive soccer and basketball teams. I used to have time to hunt and fish alot. But since the kiddos hit about age 6, there is not alot of free time.

Tana-weren't you the one who had sick kids last week or the week before?? I'm a germaphopic myself and stocked up ont he airborne yesterday too along with echinacea. I've been feeding my kids extra vitamins for weeks now. My husband is flying tomorrow also...he better not bring any sickness back with him-yikes!!!!!

Dena

Yes that was us, they had some kind of mild virus that lasted about 5 days each; Jackson (my youngest) missed Halloween but was fine the next day. Thank goodness, because their birthday parties were the following Saturday and I didn't have any days open this month to reschedule them to. We had a houseful of kids Saturday morning and all the rellies over Saturday night and didn't pick up any bugs, which is amazing, LOL. For the next week I am not taking them into any stores and we are skipping our usual children's museum visit. If Paul comes back Friday night with a cold, he will be checking into a hotel (or more likely going to his Mom's, she's a nurse and she can deal with him!!).

Echinacea is a good idea, I will add that into the mix! What vitamins do you give your kids? This morning I had a one hour stand off with Jackson, world's pickiest eater/drinker and most stubborn child, over taking his airborne. He refuses all liquids other than water so the grape fizzy stuff is a real challenge. Mom won this round!

:cool1: O.K. O.K....Let me help out to get us to the 4000 mark!!!
Doug...thanks for the email updates...I hope that these kids can get it together!
Ken...thanks for the fellow cruiser info. Yes, I know that (Sydney) wasn't very popular way back then, but it is a very popular name now. I was actually named after my grandmother. Imagine how she must have felt!!! It wasn't easy growing up as I did get teased alot, but I am quite comfortable having a name that I do not share with anyone my age!!!!!!!!!!
Laurie...I don't know how I am going to fit everything into 8 suitcases for 4 people!!!!!!!!!!!!! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Oh yes...jobs...I am an RN. I work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with premature and sick newborns. DH is a Police Sargeant (recently promoted from Detective)...YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Also a member of Coast Guard Reserve.
And Gas.........you all have it pretty good...We are paying $2.59 - $2.69 right now. Thank goodness that you don't have to come this far south............

We will be on our way for a visit to Shades of Green and Sea World this time next week!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We provide free use of all snorkeling gear and vests, food for the
Rays, and complimentary punch and bottled water. At Rum Point, you will
be provided with a nice grilled lunch.

I see nothing of Miller Lites :rotfl2: Hey Doogie, is this considered the "half day" excursion....with stingray city, beach etc.?

No, it's all day the ship leaves @ 4:30. If you want them to pick us up earlier, they can.

Barb and Tony's site is: castaway club . com "all one word".

Well, I was hoping that I wouldn't have to disclose this until later, but I am an attorney, too (just like Mr. and Mrs. Eiss). Please hold the lawyer jokes. Seriously, one of my law partners and I have been friends for 20+ years. We socialize with our wives, and have taken trips together. For some reason, people sometimes act funny when you tell them that you are an lawyer, so back in the day, we used to say that we were firemen. Everybody likes firemen. Nobody cares if a fireman has a beer or acts crazy. After 9/11 it didn't seem right, so I can't use that cover anymore. Years ago we went on a cruise with a big group and took over the bar on karioke night. People were buying us drinks, some travelers from Latin America called us "Los Bombadiers" ( I hope that means "the firemen" in Spanish-maybe it means something else). We were famous for the rest of the cruise. Now, I'm just a boring old attorney.

The DW is a preschool teacher (4 year olds). She is the one who works hard in our family.

Mary- I am an avid reader too. Read DaVinci Code a long time ago. I liked that book, and I have also read some of Dan Brown's other books. Deception Point is good- maybe a little far-fetched. Even though I love to read, I am not sure that I am going to bring a book with me on this cruise. It just doesn't seem like there is enough time for that. I can always read at home. I can't always drink a drink of the day and do cannonballs in the Goofy pool. (BTW no cannonballs are allowed in the Goofy pool, but as long as the coast is clear, nobody will stop you). Also, I must warn you that at least one of the TCD kids will do an illegal cannonball in the adult pool, but it will happen so quickly that no one will notice. It is necessary for bragging rights. Mrs. TCD does not authorize this behavior, so don't tell her about it. The less she knows the happier we will all be. Thanks.
