November 12, 2011 - Magical Double Dip!

Hi All!

I am getting our cruise girls together this weekend for another one of our get togethers and it's getting close now so it's so exciting :cool1:

A little background about our crew, we all ourselves "The Disney Chix" and this is my fourth cruise, the third with the Chix. This time it is six of us ladies some leaving the spouses for the week to hang with the Chix and have FUN :dance3: We have two new recruits this year so we are going to initiate them so to speak this weekend :rotfl2: They have heard about the Chix but now they will be experiencing them! Each of us is assigned a character which I tried to associate with their personality a bit

Mary Jo Grumpy
Gayle Mickey
Lynne Minnie
Roz Happy
Kim Eeyore *Newbie*
Cindy Stitch *Newbie*

Those past Chix unable to attend this year:
Judy Goofy
Pam Tink
Paula Tigger
So sorry girls....we will have a cold one to toast you!;)

So, our gathering this weekend is to get the newbies excited and initiated. I have both FE's made and hanging with gifts for each of them. I got them each mini cruise ships ornaments from a catalog and drew hidden Mickey's and the date on them. And then I found mini fans at Walmart yesterday so I put them in the packages. We are having a mini FE this weekend! :woohoo: Practice!! I also made them each a booklet, coded of course with their own character, with sample Navagators of what to expect on each day and packing lists and oh it's going to be so fun and overwhelming for the newbies while the rest of us sit w/our umbrella drinks! :cloud9: Going to make Rootbeer floats with umbrellas too! And we will feel right at home as it's going to be almost 90 every day this week and I don't have a/c at my house. We will be on the porch!

They already have their shirts for the cruise that the DISsigners helped me make....special shout out to Jordak and Millie and all others who helped!

So, if you find yourselves in the Buffalo NY area Saturday night, stop by and have a cold one with The Chix!

Mary Jo:wave2:

Wish I lived a little closer to you. That sounds like fun!

Hello everyone.,

Just popped in to say Hi and introduce myself . My name is Linda and I (we) will be sailing with you guys. My DH and I have changed our Disney vacation plans three times for this year because there is so much to love and we would like to do it all but can’t. We jumped on board the Magic because of the double dip. This is it. No more changes. We did the math:teacher: and 2 days at castaway cay + 7 nights aboard the Magic (sorry Dream but 4 nights just wasn’t enough even with an aquaduck) + lots of Mojitos (sp) = a great way to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.:cool1: This will be our 4th Disney cruise and our 3rd on the magic. It will be here before we know it.:goodvibes

Welcome Aboard! My name is also Linda:) This is my 13th or 14th cruise and dh's 9th. The dream has no appeal for me - one reason I love the Magic is - it's smaller and classy looking. Looking forward to two days on CC, for sure.

I HATE YOU!!! (Translation: I WISH I WAS YOU!!!) :lmao:

I got notified the other day that our flight home was changed from 1:30pm to 10:39am!! Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I HOPE WE MAKE IT TO THE AIRPORT ON TIME!!!!! :scared1:

I would seriously look for a later flight! With a family, luggage, the vagaries of traffic, the potential for a line at security, the necessity of a tram to the gate, 10:39 is REALLY risky in Orlando.

Same thing happened to us!!!! Except ours went from 1:55pm to 8:00am and this is our flight going home:scared1: I was like OMG there is NO way that will EVER happen!!:sad2: I knew there was absolutely no way to make a flight that early on the day we disembark! But I made a new plan, which ended up being very exciting:yay: We are gonna stay in Orlando the day we get off the cruise and just extend our vacation by an additional day:banana: It all actually turned out much better than our original plan, not only did that flight time change but so did our flight to Orlando, now instead of leaving at 4:25pm our flight changed to 10:30am which is AWESOME!!! Now we will be in Port Canaveral in time to go to Fishlip's and watch the Dream leave port!:cloud9: I am sooooooo excited about that so I figured it all turned out the way it was meant to in the end:goodvibes

Who are you flying with anyways?

I agree, I would be very nervous with a flight time that early after debarking!

I agree, I would be very nervous with a flight time that early after debarking!

When I called DCL they said the LATEST we should disembark is 8:00am. I was also told that if we carry our own luggage off that you can stop at the desk during the cruise and let them know we need to disembark early and we should be able to disembark earlier since we don't have to wait for them to take our luggage off.

We called Spaceport and they said they are close to Port Canaveral and can get us early and that it shoud only take about 45 minutes to get to the airport at that time on a Saturday.

I also spoke to my sister who lives in FL and has traveled through Orlando Airport frequently and she said it can get busy there, but we should have plenty of time to get through!! If we changed the flight it would have been one with a layover and would have taken wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too long with kids, and the only other direct flight would get us home close to midnight!!

We are arriving in FL a day early so we really don't want to stay another night. So as of right now it looks like were leaving it in the Good Lord's hands!! :littleangel:

I thank you all for your input and advise!!! :worship:

We had to cancel this cruise, so we won't be onboard. We'll be on the Dec. 3 Eastern instead. I hope you all have a great time!

Awwww man lucky ducks!!! Don't worry, like Linda said, soon my friend, veeeeeery soon :rotfl2:

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. You’re right it will be here very soon. I love the double dip, especially the first visit. When you only visit once it’s at the end of the cruise so, despite the paradise I find myself in, an occasional thought will sneak into my head about packing, filling out the customs forms, the flight home…. (another words REALITY).:scared1: But on the first visit of a double dip my only thoughts are of pure relaxation. :goodvibes

This will be our first double dip and I am the same way as you on that last day. It's kind of a sad day since you know its the last day of your cruise, but being able to have 2 stops there just seems ideal to me!:goodvibes I can't wait, only 105 days til we leave for Florida!!! Glad it won't be as hot then too!;) I like warm weather but there is a bigggg difference between being warm and being miserable!:cool2:
