We do the same on CC, but take precautions at other beaches. It helps to hook up at the beaches with others in our group. There is usually someone who wants to just lounge and relax, and will keep an eye on everyone's stuff.

Woody

I think it's much safer on Castaway Cay, but when we cruised the Wonder in 2005, 2 people we knew had things stolen while at the beach in Nassau. I agree it's probably good to hook up with someone who is content to relax and keep an eye on stuff.

Last year I remember finding a list of items to bring on a Disney Cruise. Sort of a list of cool items to bring, such as bubbles for the bon voyage party.

Anybody familar with this list. I can't remember where I found it.

I called DCL a few weeks back and they stated the port, ship, and CC will be decorated for the holidays. The first day for CC being decorated for the holidays is the day we are there.

Has anybody sailed at this time of the year. My understanding is official holiday festivities don't start to later in the month.

I'm curious if the characters might be dressed in holiday clothes or not because the official festivies hasn't started yet.

My daughter and I were thinking about creating our holiday card this year with us and some disney characters. Preferably in holiday clothes.

We cruised the same week last year, and so did Woody from this group, and we discussed this issue several pages back on this thread. You might want to check, but I think our recollections were the same -- the tree was up and a bit more decorations appeared each day; it was a nice touch, and especially nice for those who wanted to do Christmas card pics in front of the tree, but not full-out holiday. Definitely no "festivities," just preparations, I'd say.

I do not remember any characters in holiday garb, but I actually didn't pay that much attention to the characters because my kids were not into them.

It won't be much of a stretch, since I've been 29 as long as they can remember!!!!!

Now see... before my DD was born, I used to ADD 5 years to my age all the time, because then people would always say "you look great for that age!!" but I never did the 29 thing - because I always figured they'd say "really? wow... what happened to you?" :lmao:

Geez - a gal takes a night off and you guys post like rabbits!! :)

Happy Hallowe'en all... may it go smoothly for everyone!

My little Mulan is having quite the time at school today - and I got told this morning that 'maybe she should dress this way every day on the Princesses' Boat' :rotfl:

I love this age!!

Oh my gosh we are so close and I am still not packed!!!

So glad to report, that as of now we are almost packed!!!
Just need to go buy my dh a new tooth brush:laughing:

And wow! the luggage we have!!!!!!!!!!! unbelievable:lmao:

I cannot imagine you guys with the kids!!!!!! It mos be :scared1:

I also printed two more door magnet signs:banana:

Next week is for the last minute things, like hairs, removed unwanted hair etc......:goodvibes

Okay...you are my hero. How on earth can you pack already? That just amazes me! I probably wont start till next Monday. My kids DO have to wear undies up to vacation day! I will probably be doing laundry right up to the end. Tell me something...is anyone bring cooler weather clothing?

Is anyone really following the DIS FAQ packing list that closely? Do I need suction cups with hooks or plastic clothes pins? If I brought everything that is suggested I would be packing 12 suitcases! I am really really going to try for 3 large with a rolling duffel for snorkel gear. Can it be done? There are 6 of us. My MIL is packing her own stuff.

After Noel pounded them this week? Absolutely.

I'll bring a couple of 'layer' items - like sweaters and longer pants - and a couple of rain ponchos.
Then again, we fly back to Denver in November - so I bring jeans anyways :)

Happy Halloween!! I just hope I can still fit into my clothes next week. Keep the candy away.

I won't be packing until Monday the earliest. I have too much other things going on. You know, like posting on the disboards instead. Seriously, there is a lot going on and my kids still need socks and undies. I can pack other stuff in the meantime

what are we expecting as far as weather in orlando wdw and at sea? is there a site to look and see what is forecasted long term?

i'm hoping for sunny skies and warm weather?!

I have an aquapac . . .

They also have some plastic type cases on lanyards that you can get - I have one from my parents' cruise for my husband to use (he is doing the 12 metre regatta and I am not). It says Royal Carribean so I'm certainly not using it!
For those going on a water excursion, a plastic case on a lanyard is especially handy to hold the essentials -- your Key To The World card and some cash. I use one while snorkeling.

Disney sells them onboard with the DCL logo. Here's a generic sample of what they look like: Waterproof Box

Castaway Cay is practically as safe as being on the ship. But it's another story when visiting other ports.

In addition to the petty theft mentioned above, be aware of scams and violent crime, especially in St. Maarten. On Monday, the St. Maarten Daily Herald reported on some of the crimes against tourists that occurred over the weekend (see the last two stories about tourists being assaulted or robbed): Daily Herald

Be careful out there.

We cruised with you last year this week too. I agree that the tree was up in the atrium when we boarded, as well as decorations in the port building. Each morning, we would wake to new deorations, and the ship was completely decorated by the end of the week. The smell of the building of the gingerbread house was incredible. Let's hope they don't run out of gingerbread mix this year (easy on the sample Woody:rotfl: .)

I do not remember Castaway Cay being decorated either day we were there last year. I'd love to see it this year!
