We sailed the same week last year, and yes, the decorations gradually appeared over the course of the cruise. The tree was up when we boarded and was a great backdrop for Christmas card pics, but the ship definitely was not overly Christmasy at any point. The best part was watching them work on the big gingerbread house, until they ran out of gingerbread.

Well, this (and the other posts on the topic) makes me feel tons better! I guess I thought we would board and be bombarded by Christmas, but I'm okay if it is more gradual. I do want to have Christmas cards made if any of our pictures come out well, so it will be cool if the tree is up for a background. I guess I WAS being crazy by being disappointed. Thanks to all who made me feel better.

Just as an aside, does anyone else spend most of their time at work thinking about the cruise? I also spend way too much time at work checking to see if anyone else has posted on this thread! I am way too excited! :yay:

I think I'm kinda excited about the Christmas decorations! :santa: I think then for me, it just makes it THAT much more MAGICAL! But then the reality will set in for me, that as soon as i get back from our trip I'll have to do LOTS of Christmas shopping! UGGH!

I hear ya Phelpsie and French Snow White - But I've been crazy busy at work and then i come home and stay up way too late on the Disboards and makign all sorts of plans for the cruise. I've been busy doing important things like having those fabulous DISigners make fun doorsigns for our stateroom doors. anyone else doing any fun creations that they want to share ?

Here are a couple of my favorites done by talented designer Cruiser1969! Aren't the wonderful?! Sorry for the life of me, i couldn't figure out how to make the images smaller.

I was hoping the decorations would be up so I can get great pictures to send relatives in their Christmas cards! I dragged out the luggage and started arranging passports today and I am driving my coworkers nuts with the 30 more sleeps talk! Time will fly by and it will be here before we know it!
So will Christmas so I hope to be done my Christmas shopping by the trip so all I have to do is come home and wrap and decorate! I am already 80% done. Anyone else almost done or am I insane:rolleyes1

Trisha, I love your door signs. I had one made for our door as well, but I have no idea how to post anything. I made one sign myself, a Pirate night sign that I scrapbooked using a pic of my son in his pirate costume, but I forgot to scan it before I laminated it so now I can't put it in the computer. It's not that great anyway, so I don't know that I'd want to post it anyway!!

I'm telling you, you are totally insane!!!!!!!

I have no Christmas shopping done at all!!!!!!

Waiting to find some gifts in the cruise!:rotfl:

I haven't even started thinking about shopping yet and Hannukah starts Dec. 5th! I guess it will be gift cards for everyone this year :rotfl:

Does anyone know if they have any Hannukah decorations when they decorate for the holidays. It really doesn't matter to me, but my daughter gets excited when places remember Hannukah.

Manon,
Can't tell if it is a 12/11? It is a standard inside cabin. Looks like an 11 and it is very close to our cabins! We are in 6612/6614. Go to the cruise website and go on the virtual ship tour, deck 6. It is pretty much right in the middle.

Purple Princess looks like we will be right next door, 6610. Will be great to know who is nearby.

Michele,
Yeah it is kind of nuts! I am constantly thinking about the cruise! My Pirate costume came today and it was HIDEOUS! I'll have to send it back. What a mistake! I paid 11.95 for shipping. Geez...maybe I will just have to get a pirate shirt now. I went to Nordstrom right after work and got a cute cover up dress. I'll proably be wearing it 24/7 so if you see me in the same outfit...don't say anything. I promise I'll wash it onboard. ;) I am really excited to "know" some of my fellow passengers and meet prople from all over. BTW if anyone likes basketball I am sure my husband would love to shoot some hoops onboard.

You know that is a category 6 right? Oh yeah....I'll will LOVE that balcony!
I also have a 3 year old but he is a boy. Do you think your daughter will like the club?

We were also on the same Double Dip cruise last year, and it was wonderful seeing new decorations each morning. The gingerbread house is made of real gingerbread, and you can ask the pastry chef decorating the house for a sample to taste.

Okay...I better get in gear then cuz how fun would it be to be all ready for christmas by the time we get home from our trip! Thaks for the inspiration!

Ok now, as of today we are 3 on deck 6:

-Purpleprincess

-Think's Mom

-Frenchsnowhite (me) and I have a friend of a french forum that is on the same deck as we are!!!!!!

Anyone else????:goodvibes

We're on deck 6 too :woohoo:

I'm excited about the decorations. I always wanted to cruise around Christmas time so I think it'll be really nice. Plus I'm another hoping to get that DCL Christmas card photo :lmao:

Can I add that I picked the worst week possible to go though? I'm missing 3 important meetings, a fundraiser I'm running for scouts was due to come in that week but I had to beg to get it changed. Oh well! :upsidedow

Stimpy do you want to give us your cabin # or email it to us? So I can write it down in my passporter along with Purple Princess and Think's Mom?
