November 1, 2014 Fantasy Eastern Cruise

We are booked as well. I'm calling it the 2, 3, 4 birthday trip. Our son will turn 2 on 11/1/14, Ashley turns 30 on 11/3 and I will turn 40 on 11/8. So this itinerary was perfect. The Fantasy is the only ship we haven't sailed on. Magic (3), Wonder (3), Dream (1). Also booked on the Magic in January to check out the refurbishments and celebrate our Anniversary. We took our son on his first cruise in April for an 8 day itinerary that was great. We are ensuring he grows up with his sea legs. Look forward to posts about the cruise to help the time go by.

Welcome F&A and congrats on all the birthday celebrations!!! :dance3:

This cruise will be our first aboard the Fantasy, too. We are on B2B cruises in January on the Wonder and B2B cruises on the Magic in February. I, too, am looking forward to seeing all the changes on the Magic.

Still over a year to the cruise, but every day that goes by it gets a little closer. I'm kind of thinking about another 'short' cruise on RCCI about January to keep my interest up and give us a little "fix". We went last January, for just five days on a cruise and had a grand time until the last night when my DW got sick and was sick all the way home and for several days afterwards. We are hoping to not repeat that any time soon. It seems that all the rich food and change in the normal meal times, and drinking and such upsets her system and she gets ill. We are trying, on the next cruise to eat healthier, and drink less.

One of the things I really like about the Disney cruise is the lack of a Casino full of smoke and the very limited places for smokers to be. The last ship, tho' very nice, stunk of stale smoke and was really unpleasant much of the time, for those of us who quit smoking decades ago.

And just a little more news, from my son and is wife who are expecting, the new baby will be a BOY. I have seen the ultrasound photos and the images are clear. That new grandboy (our third) will be just about 11 months old when we leave on the cruise next year.

Congrats on the grandson. Like I said earlier, our son will turn 2 on this cruise (11/1). I'm with ya on the moderation. We even started doing the room service breakfast order the night before to avoid temptations. Order granola cereal, fruit, yogurt etc to avoid indulging in Mickey waffles every morning. Even ran the castaway cay 5k last May. The cruises have become more fun when you practice moderation. Did you see DCL changed their smoking policy and made it even more restrictive?

In the DCL early days, smoking was allowed in the bars.

Our cruise date is getting closer!

Here the list is with the added information. I can add stateroom #, Celebrations, Hometowns or anything else folks might like the group to know. I can add as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Lois

Lois,

As for Tractor Tom, he is celebrating his 60th birthday on the cruise. My birthday is actually the last week in September, but I find the cruising south in November is better. Too darn hot in September in Florida, let along going further south....

I (mistakenly) thought you were listing the numbers of the party, not the number of posts.....

No problem Tom. Like I said I should have given an explanation about the numbers. I will add your Birthday Celebration.

David and I are celebrating our 60th birthdays as well but both are earlier in the year. Plus our 35 wedding anniversary is in December next year as well. We have early dining, cabin 9674 and are from Cadillac, MI.

We were in Cadillac MI for a few days in July! My wifes mother passed the end of June, and we held the funeral in her home of Capac, MI on Friday the 28th of June. After that, we took a few days off to 'vacation' a little, and went up to Cadillac to the Golf Resort up there for two nights (McGuires????) and enjoyed it a LOT. Cadillac is in the hills, and where we live in south Florida is really flat, and it was nice to be up in the pines and hills again!!! I really like the little bar there at the resort as they have some really nice beers on tap...

Funny how lives tend to overlap a bit. Were in 8684, a rear facing balcony cabin...( I really love to sit out and watch where I have been disappear into the horizon...)

We need to set up a 'sail away' meeting for drinks and a general get to know folks from this board. We did that on our cruise last January on Royal Caribbean and had a lot of fun. One of the gals put together a 'slot pull' at the casino the first sea day, and about 25 of us got together and loaded a machine. I nearly broke even. Got $18.25 back on a $20 investment when it was all done. It was a lot of fun....but we can't do that on Disney as there is no casino. I'm really looking forward to this trip, as we'll have the entire extended family with us for the whole week and can spoil everyone a little bit.... including the three grandboys.

You were probably indeed at McGuire's. Our office used to be right across the street! There is a really nice bar (with good bar food) in there as well. Actually, our middle son has his wife held their wedding reception there outside in a tent (sat the end of July and we had to have heaters going it was so chilly). Small world - had I known you were here I certainly would have come out and had a drink with you.

Well, we are home after all the excitement and I must say - I now understand why my grandpa got all choked up when he said goodbye to us after a visit - it was a difficult departure. But - I get to see him again in two weeks so that will be good. Plus, I am really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight! David liked the hotel bed and while I was a huge fan of the linens - the pillows were just not quite right.

Have a good week everyone!

HI Folks....joining in the fun.

I sent a request to FB admin to join the FB group - much easier to check in over there.

This 2014 cruise will be our 6th DCL cruise.

We are taking our 5th one on 11/2/13 - so I am in the heat of planning all the stuff for that right now. I will be able to think about 2014 later, but at least wanted to check in here!

So - hello from VA!!! Can't wait to get to chatting with all of you veterans. I thought I was doing well with 6! LOL

Did you get caught up in the recently last minute dry dock plans of the Wonder in January? I saw they cancelled two cruises. We are sailing on the Wonder on 10/19 from Galveston. Hope your plans didn't get ruined.
