November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Did anyone see the 2010 announcement!?!?!
DH and I REALLY want to do one of the 14 night repo cruises!!!

So here is my snorkle packing theory.

To rent snorkles on castaway cay for 3 is $75
I bought three sets of snorkles on clearance for roughly $24
extra baggage charge is $50 round trip

So, I get to bring my snorkles and a whole extra bag of goodies and am no worse of financially.

Wow! A bunch of you have been very busy posting lately. It took a while for me to catch up on the thread. I don't think we'll have any problem getting to 2000 posts before the cruise. Who knows, we may even hit 3000 the way it is going.:lmao:

The wristbands have shipped from the supplier, so I should receive them and then send them to you in plenty of time. I've received payment from almost everyone (I've pm'd those that I still need it from). I did order a few extra bands just in case some of the late thread joiners want some. If you do, let me know.

In 3 weeks we'll be celebrating DD's birthday. Wow--what a year it has been. Hopefully I'll already have my packing done because we leave 3 weeks from tomorrow!!!:yay:

I love it! Snorkel theory. LOL Sounds about right!!

My DH and I had to go a hunting in our storage unit for a few things, including our scuba snorkels and masks. Got those, but we forgot to pull out DH's Sorcerer Mickey costume. So we have to go make another trip back there.

I sent my DH to the vet on Saturday to get all the meds we will need to keep the kitties stocked while we are away, and to also pick up a bag of food for them. This way our kitties will definitely be all set while we are away. Well that was LOTS of fun... there was a mix up where we were charged $170 for a pint of his liquid medicine. $170??? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I about dropped dead right there. All I could thing was, wow, Buster (my one boy kitty) is one lucky thing to be so loved, cause otherwise he'd be in trouble.... LOL But we went back to the vet this morning and found out it was a HUGE mix up and we should only have been charged $35. PHEW!!!

So, after all that... my kitties are all good to go.

Next up... finish my magnets - I went WAY overboard on them!! You'll all know which one is my door when you see it covered floor to ceiling in magnets. :lmao: :lmao: I just couldn't decide between which ones, so I am putting everything on there. It's just taking me forever to finish them all! I made sure to put "Property of Stateroom XXXX" on the back of all of them, just in case they mysteriously grew legs and wanted to walk away.

Have I mentioned how excited I am yet?? :woohoo:

Hey everyone!! Guess who just left my door? The big brown truck!! :cool1: Yeah... so excited to get some luggage tags, lol.

Welcome melidere1676!! You should definitely plan on joining us in the Lounge on that first day.

What I ordered for my FEs should be here any day, bought some tshirts at Michaels this weekend for the iron-on transfers, haven't started the magnets yet... but I'm getting there!

YES!!! I called my husband as soon as I saw the announcement... lol!

I think we are going to book the west bound transAtlantic!

I will know better when we get the prices next week!

So I started doing the magnets last night and then I realized that I didn't know how to get more than one on a page, so that I didn't waste the magnetic paper.....my DH took it to work to have a friend in the marketing department put them into a printable format for me....it is really that difficult...what did I do wrong.

My t shirts come tomorrow and I have the design to put on them and the transfer paper. Anything I should know before I start that????

Do magnets really walk?????

As in disappear from your door? yes.
This happened to us on our last cruise.
One of the other dis'ers made us a really nice one with our logo and our NAMES on it, and someone swiped it.
I was soooo sad.

Ugh, this just gets me steamed. I don't understand why someone would first, steal the magnets, and second, why take them with someone else's names on them? Just so sad that there's people that would take them. :sad2:

:dance3: :dance3: YAHOO!!!!!:dance3: :dance3:

I just peaked at them.

I am glad they are finally here!

Now to get to some serious business of making magnets, finishing up my scrapbook fe's, put our note in the FE bag and the dreaded packing!:lmao:

Congrats to all of you who have gotten your pkgs- very happy for you- mind saving some luggage tags so my stuff makes it on the ship, too?:rotfl: ;)

Anyway, for those who have cruised before- do you write your cabin info/name on the back, or on the front of the magnets to try to stop them from being stolen?

Thanks,
Ellen

I'd give you some but it looks like I will be USING ALL OF THEM!

And that's after dh unpacks 1/2 of what I pack. :rotfl2:

pixiedust: Here's hoping they come by the end of the week.!pixiedust:

I've cruised before, but this will be the first time I have magnets on my door. I ended up putting my info/stateroom number on the back of each of the magnets, and then I laminated them, so it's permanent on the back of the magnet. I really hope it helps things from walking away!

Ellen,
This is our first cruise and first time doing the FE, just made up my
list with cabin numbers and names. I am a little concern about people changing cabin numbers. When will we know if we need another cabin number
to deliver their exchange gift. Does any one know how this works or you
don't know until you board if you got an upgrade from DCL.

We will know at the meet, so please go to that!:) So far we have only one cabin change that I'm aware of- Princesspaige is now in #6636. If you miss the meet:sad1: please go to my cabin, #7076, and I'll somehow post any changes on my door Ok?

Hey Judy- thanks and good luck with the packing!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hey everyone!! As my DDs say, only 22 more sleeps til we leave!! (OK, 26 for the cruise, but 22 til WE leave!!)

Still haven't even gotten to my FE gifts yet. I hope I can get them done in time! We went to Hershey PA yesterday, to visit Chocolate world, and also made a stop at the disney outlet store! Not too much there, but got a really nice MM purse (looks like a D&B) and wallet. Also got Disney dollars for the girls to spend in WDW...

A question for those with younger ones. Have you seen the thread on the DCl forum about the kids counselor dislocating a 4 year old's elbow? I'd rather think it was isolated, but then there are MANY people saying how disorganized and uncaring the Club counselors were on their trip (they all just got off the Magic). This seriously concerns me, since one DD would be in the 3 and 4 year old group, and one would be in the 5 to 7 year old group. The older one is shy, the younger one is outgoing, but still small. I have been at the kids clubs before with Lindsey, and I have been really talking it up for them to go (so I can have some alone quiet time at the Cove Pool) :cool2: but I don't think I can relax if I know that there really isn't adequate supervision or caing going on... Someone please comfort my fears!

In other news, very excited about the Europe cruises, since we have been planning our 10 anniversary cruise and wanted to take a Baltic Cruise!! How perfect is that? We had our honeymoon on the cruise (after being married in WDW, so I think this is soooooo perfect for us. Now to figure out how to pay for all 4 of us to go (and not be in an inside cabin for 2 weeks!!)

GOtta go to bed. Really LONG day at the daycare center. Is it Friday yet?

See you real soon!! (only 22 more sleeps!)

Thanks for the information, we will be at the meet on sailing day,
can't wait to meet everyone.
Good luck to all that are packing, I am truely an overpacker too. Would
rather have it and not use it, then to wish we would have brought it.
I have read on the boards that their is a CVS in walking distance of the ship, just in case you forgot anything.

DD enjoyed the clubs when she was 4,5, & 6. I can honestly say that the counselors were fine, and had a good handle on their situation. It's true that some kids were a bit wild, but they tended to stay to themselves, while the quiet kids, like my DD enjoyed themselves doing something else in the club.

Personally, I can't imagine being a counselor in any of the kids' clubs. They couldn't pay me enough to do that. I'm sure some counselors are better than others. However, we've been pleased with those that DD has encountered.

Thanks ;) I so badly want to believe the clubs are completely fine, and I should have no worries. I know DD had fun the last time we went on the cruise, but she cried she didn't want to go back many times, but that is because she is shy (I think) :confused3

Its a very large ratio of kids to counselors. I am the co-director of a daycare center, and ours is just 3 kids to one counselor/staff. But I also have 80% children with autism or with medical issues, so that is why our low ratios. Numbers of 20 kids to 1 staff sounds crazy to me!! They could easily organize a coo and overthrow a counselor!! Make 'em walk the plank and all....pirate: J/K

Sorry to sound like a paranoid parent. I really don't have much concern over the staff, but what can't be controlled, like the crazy kids!:rolleyes1
