November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

We have had main dining since booking too.
We actually booked a dummy cruise in 2006 and the day the new reservations were availble we had our DU switch our reservation.

We got the WDW doc's yesterday in the mail:cool1:

DH is ready to put things we won't use between now and the cruise into a suitcases. Not packed (because that would be crazy ;) ) just "stored".

After tomorrow I only have 3 weeks (and one day) of work before our vacation begins!

I am luuuuvin' my ticker!! Days! It says days!!

Hey, months ago we had talked about meeting up somewhere in the MK for dinner on Halloween night. Somewhere quick because... I don't want to waste time eating when I could be riding or trick-or-treating! I had mentioned Peco's Bills. Is anyone else up for meeting that night?

We're game...pick out a time and we'll plan accordingly. Gotta Eat Somewhere.

and found my dinner is now "main seating"

Does this mean that I have the earlier dinner time?

That is GREAT if it is. The kids & I have been going to be by 8:30 pm and I think we would fall asleep by 9pm.

I am so glad we got main seating.

I fixed the errors in our ressies docs. I couldn't print the docs out as the kiddos were watching me. :rolleyes1

I will try to do it while they are at school today.

:scared1: I bought a huge magnetic sheet from them. I tried to peel the label off of the magnetic sheet. IT WON'T come off!

I was SO ready to print my door magnets. I had them lined up perfectly. I did a white paper test & it was perfect. Now I gotta go back to AC Moore & exchange that sheet for a good one.

And the roll of magnetic tape I bought is NOT sticky on one side as it is supposed to be.:headache:

Now I gotta find my receipts to take them both back.

Any advice on Main seating vs the later dinner seating? Just wondering if one is better than the other. Would we be more rushed during the day with the main or does it not matter because we would be rushing to see the show anyway if we had the later seating??

Both the kiddos & I are typically in bed before 8:30 pm. I think the 3 of us would fall asleep during "late" dinner.

The main seating would also give us the chance to see the shows or just head to bed. Dh thinks they will have no problem sleeping in the next day. My body just won't let me sleep in like it used to.

I wonder what others think ....

The main boards indicate that there are two seating times now, main and late. Last time we had 3 staggered sub-times for each seating (like 8, 8:15 and 8:30 for late). Will be interesting to try it with this new system.

As for the shows, if you have late seating you go to the early show; and vice verse if you have main seating you go see the later show after dinner.
They do have it timed out for pirate night - if you have late seating you can finish (just skip dessert if you are running late) and get up on deck for the show. Of course, you won't get a prime spot, but you will see the show.

We booked a year ago onboard - they tried to give me late seating again (a year out). I told the nice lady that if she didn't get me main seating on my reservation it would be a deal breaker and we wouldn't be interested in rebooking. (We had late, late, late seating at 8:30 last time and we usually eat around 6.) We are main seating this trip and are looking forward to that dining time. There is some talk on the boards of this being a little more rushed to get ready for main seating dinner, especially on Castaway Cay and Cozumel days.

Late seating does work out well for those of you from the far reaches of the US allowing you to work in time zone changes into your body clock asking for dinner. (Shauna from Utah springs to mind.)

Doing my part to keep the post count rising!

I didn't know they had 3 staggared times. I am glad we got main seating.

Here's hoping I can stay up that late :rotfl2:

As pastey white as I am I don't think I will be staying out all day in the sun anyway. I did buy a GREAT coverup from Coolibar which will keep me from getting burnt. I've never been one to sit & bake in the sun

I am doing my part too! :cheer2:

But, I must get some laundy & dishes done. :laundy:

PS: We need at least 11 posts per day to hit our mark. I am doing my part

We have late seating, and I am glad- I requested it when we booked (a year ago, I had my choice). I did not want to feel rushed to get to dinner after a day of relaxing or excursions- my kids are not little, little ones anymore:sad1: so they have no problem staying up- I can't really see them eating for 2 hours with us anyway (everynight)- they will get antsy, I think! When they're hungry at 5 or 6, they can have some room service or Pluto's to tide them over until dinner- it will be interesting to see how it all goes once we're on board!

Happy Friday everyone!! :cheer2: In only 4 weeks I'll be on a plane headed to the Magic Kingdom for MNSSHP! SO psyched!!!!

We requested the early seating when we first booked.... can't even remember when that was now. :rotfl: I'd probably prefer the late seating (my DH and I had the late seating on our honeymoon and were happy with it) but my Dad is a diabetic so he needs to eat early. I think it'll be good for us. We're not scheduled for any excursions, so I don't think we'll have to worry about rushing.

Have I mentioned that I'm SO excited yet?? :woohoo: :woohoo:

Somehow on the cruise I tap into my inner reserves. I am the first one up and the last one to bed as I don't want to miss a minute. My energy level on the DCL cruise is wonderful - I should stay there all year round.

There are good features for both seatings so hopefully everyone enjoys the benefit of their particular dining schedule.

I don't want to work - I wanna go home and get ready for the trip.

My DH and I are usually pretty late birds, but we really want to be good on the cruise and work out in the mornings when the gym first opens. Now, that being said.... we'll see how well we stick to doing that. :goodvibes But I'm determined to keep on my workout schedule. Must drop more weight! Besides it leaves me more room for dessert each night. :lmao:

I have 7 year olds, so it's early seating for us. When I was on my honeymoon, I had the late seating and I loved it but felt like I missed activities that were going on while we were eating. Of course it was on another cruise line.

4 more weeks....I'm so excited:banana:

Getting closer to post 1600

I am going to make an effort to visit the gym this trip. The last trip was only a 4 night and there was just so much to do I didn't even find the gym.

Apparently there are nice showers in the gym, and a tip from the main boards was if you have a large group in your cabin someone could shower up at the gym to help with that getting ready for dinner rush.

We used the stairmaster on the ship - using the steps instead of the elevator whenever going up or down just 2 floors - gotta walk off all those big meals.

On our last cruise I had good intentions of going to the gym. Instead I found the morning pastries on deck 9, and the hot tub.

Weeks of physical therapy, years of dieting due to Lap Band.... I AM NOT DOING THE GYM, I am taking the elevator, I am eating whatever I please, I am vegging out at every lounge chair, drinking everything fruity and bad for you...
People...THIS IS VACATION !!!! GO FOR IT !!! :lmao:

Then come home and complain your clothes don't fit, body aches and you feel like crap...but you'll be tan doing it !!! :confused3

That's what I'm afraid is going to happen to me! LOL But I'm going to fight it and try to get there each morning. I hope it works! :woohoo:
