November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

75 more days!!!

Is anyone else (who isn't a castaway club member) not able to book things yet? I'm trying to book excursions for my mom and DCL's website is saying that access to book isn't until 75 days--which should be today.

Welcome BUKU! Check out the post on page 56 of this thread about wristbands. We're ordering some that say Election Day Castaways 2008, let me know if you want some too. Feel free to ask any questions about the cruise.

stampinshauna, just wanted to let you know that we are first time cruisers too and when I log on to the Disney Crusie site it had Aug 18 as the date
to make our reservations. It was listed on your reservation but grayed out, so check it out.

Also welcome aboard Buku and family.

We get to book all our excursions and Palo as of midnight tonite....so who else is staying up with me?

Also anyone else doing Xcaret in Mexico or Boatswain Beach in GC?

Also for you scrapbookers out there, I do digital scrapbooking if anyone is interested in checking out my site. www.MyLifeInBooks.com .

I will also be burning the midnight oil, put the coffee pot on, or just grab a
coke with lots of caffeine.

What ressies do I have to make?

What #'s do I call?

Can any of this be done online?

other than Palo

what other ressies do I want to make??

just a newbie here :lmao:

Do it online. Click My Disney Cruise, then My Cruise Plans.

You can book Palo (do so ASAP), spa treatments, and excursions. Most excursions don't fill that fast, but if there is something you really want, you should book it early.

You can catch up on what the Election Day Castaways are planning so far by getting a ice cold coke/pepsi and reading the thread from the beginning.

There are a # of newbie cruisers on this one.

Welcome aboard!!

Both of the kiddos are young 6 & 8 so we don't plan on any excursions on GC or in Mexico.

I will be booking Palo.

What excursions are you going to do???

Glad to have your family aboard! You're officially a member of the "Election Day Castaways"! Your family has been added to page one. The Cayman Island Tour, and CC Stingray adventure sound like fun.

We have a DS7/DS14 and Boatswain Beach in GC is what we are doing. I understand the turtle farm is fantastic for the younger kids. We are going to do Xcaret in Mexico. My girlfriend went yrs ago with her kids who were 4/3 and they loved it. Taking my chances. Key West we are going on our own since we are Veterans of the Conch Republic. Thinking aquarium, stroll down Duval St. and lunch at Rum Barrel. I am going to book Palo (I hope) for brunch on one of the sea days if available. Kids don't eat breakfast often and I can camp the DS7 and let DS14 explore for that one.
Being 1st time cruiser on DCL, I sure could use any insight any of the veterans have.

if more than one (butterfly farm),
which is better?
:rotfl:

There is another butterfly place in Key West. We went there a few years ago. DD loved it. It was a nice place. I'm not familiar with the Butterfly farm in GC.

DH wants to "lay low" on this cruise. He KNOWS the kiddos won't want to leave the kids club.

We will do more excursions on the next cruise:cool1:

Thanks for the "welcome aboard". Considering I don't drink any caffiene :surfweb: i may have to come up with a creative way to stay up till midnight like the toothpicks in the eyelids trick!! DH and I are looking forward to booking Palo possibly Monday for brunch or dinner. I have a Birnbaum's Guide to the Disney Cruise that has a short review on each excursion, so if anyone wants me to look something up for them, I'd be happy too.

Xcaret and Boatswain beach if you are able to check on it.

Also what's better for Palo? I'm thinking brunch on Mon or Thurs....

Anyone ever do the Hot Stone Massage...thinking of that for myself. My escape from the boys for an hour.

There is another butterfly place in Mexico on the Xcaret excursion. The one in Key West is nice, but HOT HOT HOT inside. Been there 4x.

Xcaret review is that it's a good way to take in a little bit of everything but young children got cranky by the end of the day because it lasted 7-7.5 hours. I don't see anything on Boatswain beach, is that in Grand Cayman?

I'm going to try brunch on Mon. and dinner on Thurs. The spa sounds great, I may try to get a massage. I've heard hot stone massages feel great. Looking forward to losing the boys for a while too. Being the only female in the family can be draining now and then....need some girlie stuff to do.
