November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

DH and stayed up on phone with Muffin07 until 1am. Woke up around 5:30 on third try finally got on. No palo, booked 12:10 GC tour and butterfly farm tour. DD signed up for OC. Just tried DCL again to see if Palo openned up-whole site is down. what is their problem? guess no Palo for our group. time to take DD to camp and off to play with bugs that i can deal with.:hippie:

Stayed up till 12:40 with no luck retreiving ressie. Booked this morning Palo on Key West day @ 6:00pm but not sure I want to miss out on the other restaurants with the kids so I may cancel. Doing Grand Cayman Island Tour @12:10 and Stingray's on Castaway Cay @1:00. Spurlged a bit a booked a facial and massage for myself on Wednesday. :woohoo:
Hope all of you were able to get what you wanted.

Can someone tell me where to get a fish extender?

I got my fish extender on Ebay. I didn't do a Palo dinner either because of kids and being first time, really wanted to see ship through them. I did splurge and book a facial on 1st Sea Day and Massage on 2nd day. Figure by Thurs. I'm gonna need the massage.:crazy2:

Sounds like a bunch of us are on the same Grand Cayman Tour. Remember to wear your bracelets so we can all say hi. It'll be fun.

DCL keeps some of the reservations for Palo available for once you board the ship, so if you didn't get something you wanted, try when you board. When I tried booking my stuff at 90 days out just after midnight (castaway club member) there were only 2 times for brunch available, and there was no high tea, so even though the system was down it probably wouldn't have helped. On our last cruise, we decided that we wanted a different time for dinner, and we had no problem changing once on board--so sending some Pixie dust your way that you'll get what you want in the end.:wizard:

trying to get ressies. :lmao:

I was at school early this am to help in the office.

DH did our ressies today. He got us Palo.

What's the price on the Romance Package?

Judy

Does anyone know what night Pirate Night is supposed to be? I'm just hoping that my Palo reservations aren't on the same night as Pirate Night.

I was checking one of the old navigators and they listed Pirate Night as Wednesday night, but it looks like they are changing some of the diner rotations, so not sure when it is. I put a message out on the boards, if someone is sailing in Oct. and doing the Western Cruise, if they would please
post their daily navigators.

Hope you all have a magical cruise, would like to ask one favor, if any one
going on the Western Cruise in Oct, when you return home, would you please
post your daily navigators for us to view. We are taking our first DCL cruise
on Nov. 1 and really excited about all the activities. Last night was our
window to book Palo and other excursions, stayed up all night, the system
was down until 4 in the morning, well to make a long story short, No Palo
for our group, as no pixie dust was left. So we thought if we could look over
some of the other activities that would be a great help. Bon Voyage and have a good trip.

PIRATE night is usually on thursday night after Cozumel.:goodvibes

Thanks very much! :)

Thanks Muffin! That'd be great to see the Navigators. ;)

I was able to get the spa reservations for my DH and I, and also spa reservations for my parents as well. I'm so excited!!

But I'm pretty sure I'm not the most excited one. I just talked to my Dad and told him that I got their plane tickets already. As soon as I told him that they are flying in on Halloween, he was coyly asking me if there are doing anything special at the Magic Kingdom for Halloween. He's dying to go trick or treating with Mickey Mouse! :rotfl2: So, off I go to buy some Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets!

I can NOT wait!! :woohoo:

Hi Tinapomp,
Sounds like you have everything under control, the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is great, we never attended this one, but two years ago our
family attended the Christmas Party, it was out of this world, as usual Disney
does a great job. What part of the country are you flying from.

Yes, thanks for posting that! It will be good to see if they go back to the old schedule or stick with the new one they were using for Mexico over the summer. Either way, I think Pirates are on Weds night, right? We're at Palo for dinner on Thursday night, so I hope it's not then!

You'll have lots of company for MNSSHP on Halloween- there's a few of us Castaways going!:tigger: :dumbo:

Judy- I think the REAS was around $360-

Count us in for Halloween !! We'll be spooking it up with the rest of ya...:wizard:
Anyone have their costumes yet?

Hi All we are on the November 1st cruise and while we are excited, I am completely freaking out. I have done Disney World many times (too many according to DH!) but we have never been on a cruise. I completely blanked out of this trip because we are crusing with my sister who has been on this trip 3 or 4 times. So I figure I will just follow her. However, the overplanner in me is coming out now that we are within 75 days. HELP!

A few questions:

What is a FE? I see pictures of these things and they look adorable but I can't figure out what they are for on the cruise.

What is the number one MUST do while on the ship for a first time cruiser?

We have signed the kids up for their Oceaneers Lab group (DD 9 and DS 11). Anything else we need to do for the kids?

What excursions are good for Key West. Not a big Key West fan, and would like a quick excursion for all of us. Any suggestions?

Anyone have an opinion of doing a Non-Disney excursion in Cozumel or Grand Cayman? My sister want to do a Non-Disney excursion company for Stingray City. I can't remember the name though, but she said they rate well on the DISboards.

What do I need to pack??? Anyone done a November cruise. Is it chilly, do I need long pants or capri type pants?? Help! I have probably a million more questions. Should I just post in the main forumn? UGh I probably should have done that ....

Thanks!

Muffin07 - My DH and I are flying in from Houston, and my parents are flying in from Chicago - Ohare. We're so excited! :)

podsnel - Sounds like you should be ok for Pirate night then. :thumbsup2 It'll definitely be a MNSSHP Castaway party! :cool1:

LBIGirl67 - We're not going to do costumes, but we'll be right there with you in the fun! :woohoo:

Where are you in MD? I have relatives all over the state. I was born there too! A real Marylander at heart.:lovestruc even though I am across the river.

I think asking the general ??? in the reg. forum is great but I have had lots of my ???? answered right here too!

The Fish Extenders are a pocket holder that is placed on the fish next to your stateroom door. I am not sure which DCL trip started it but it sure looks like fun. Families exchange items during the cruise. I have seen pix of magnets, jack daniels someone from TN did that, postcards, scrapbooks, scrapbooking items, candy, glow sticks, etc. There are a # of families who are participating on our cruise.

I am not sure of the "rules" for our FE group. Maybe some else can post those.

If you are not already on the Yahoo group, ask to be put on that in another thread.

HI Judy, We are in the west end of Howard County. I am actually a Floridian at heart, born and raised there, but my parents "retired" up in Maryland. Love the beauty of this state and being only hours from the beach, the mountains and all sorts of wonderful history, but I would much rather be in Florida. :) Are you in Northern Va? I have family in Centreville!

Thanks for the information, can you elaborate on what the "rules" are for the Fish Extenders. Is this just a fun thing to do for Disers? Do you plan in advance what you contribute? Confused?

Ok what is the Yahoo group? I don't understand? I feel lost.... someone ask a question about the resorts so I can feel helpful again ;)

Cmbar-
No need to freak :scared1: . We are first time Disney Cruisers ourselves. I am a veteran to cruising but no on Disney. I am packing capri's and long bermuda's for casual nights for me. DH and DS's- Dress jeans/shirts Formal night I rented tux's for all 3 boys and fancy dress for me. Semi-formal, well we paid for tux so they are wearing it AGAIN...besides when can you get your men in a tux 2x in same week. I have a nice pant suit for that night.

Key West...we are veterans of. For a quick fun time with the kids, just walk off ship and head over on Front St. to Pirate Soul pirate museum. There is also a great resturant attached. The aquarium is also in walking distance to the right off Mallory Square. Our kids love to just hang by the water and watch all the boats go by.

Thank you for the Key West recommendation. I think our kids would like to see the pirate museum and the aquarium, so I will look into that.

What is the difference between Semi-Formal and Formal? Can you book Palo on Formal night or Semi-Formal night? Does anyone know what night these would usually be on the cruise? I won't be able to get my hubby and son back into a tux that they had to rent for a wedding just the week before. We will have to settle for a nice suit for hubby and dress pants and tie for son. Now I think I will have fun picking a nice dress or two for my daughter! Oh maybe I can bring my daughters bridesmade dress and get two wears out of it. Wow that would be cool! It is a pretty dress that isn't too bridesmaidish!

Anyone have pictures of what people wear on Semi formal and formal?? My DH was not happy to hear he has to dress up on a Disney vacation. We have been going to the parks for too long!! Only shorts and jeans on those trips!

Thanks
