November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Boys papa- I forgot, the one requirment they have is that your boys be 4 feet tall. Does that work?

My boys are the same ages- 9 & 11- this is going to be great!!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

You're right, our guys meet the height requirements and they are virtually the same age as yours (8 and 11). When we cruise, they will be about a month away from their B-Days. This will be a lot of fun!! Looking forward to it.

Hi all!! I am a frequent reader of these boards, not a frequent contributor. :confused3 We just received our advanced paperwork for our DCL cruise which has gotten us very excited. We are considering excursions now...

I seen, and read bits and pieces about fish extenders on these boards. Thanks to everyone who has shared pictures of their FE's. Everyone has done such a great job. But I have to confess, I'm a bit confused as to how these are supposed to work. I understand where they go. We've cruised with DCL three times before, but never saw them. Can someone explain this to us? I'm sure I could search back through this board to find info, but perhaps someone could save me the effort.

Thanks!

cars fabric for dad, tigger fore me, princesses for eldest & fairies for the youngest.

The kiddos wanted to know what the fabric was for & I told them it was for a craft I am making. That seemed to quiet them down. I also bought other stuff so they were focused on that.

I am SO excited. I almost blew it again. But, I didn't :woohoo:
and

I also bought patterns for dresses for the kiddos. I told them I wanted to make twin dresses for them. They were very happy with that answer. Although, they were ??? my sewing skills/ :rotfl2:

I gotta dust that sewing machine off next week. :lmao: I hear sewing is like riding a bike ... it all comes back. I'll update when I can.

I hope they were able to do the lapro appendectomy.

Mine wasn't & the recovery was long.

Hugs to you as you heal!!!:grouphug:

No lapro appendectomy for me it was taken out the old fashion way. It was too swollen and leaking so they needed to clean around it out so there was no infection. Everyone I have talked to that had it out lapro had to have surgery again because they got an infection. One surgery and two nights in the hospital was enough for me! Thanks for the hugs!:) I am feeling a lot better but plan on milking it at the next Dr. appoinment to get an extra 2 weeks off! I love being home for the summer!

I started milking my surgery in January, told them I couldn't stand anymore, had knee replacement in April and now don't go back until next school year. I got MAJORLY lucky....They wanted to send me back in May, but I was like,
" well ya know, I stand all day..blah blah" Dr. sent me back day before last day of school. My Administrator said it was silly to come back for one day. Gee wonder why Dr. sent me back with one day to go??--- think he knew they wouldn't take me back yet...:rotfl:

I say you need the extra 2 weeks. :rolleyes1

That's major surgery and NOBODY else is going to do the healing for you.

Hugs, hugs & more hugs!!!:grouphug:

I am not sure when/how it started. Folks make/buy a FE and put it on the fish outside their stateroom.

During the voyage disers have a list of the participating families & their stateroom #'s. Some families put stuff for pirate night, glo sticks, souvies from their home state/provence, note pads, magnets, etc.

We have had folks sign up for the yahoo group. Ask Jenn she will help.

There was also talk of doing a scavenger hunt.

I hope someone else chimes in as I am sure I have missed some thoughts/ideas on this as I am cruise rookie. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm going to PM you with details about the Royal Dolphin Swim. I misspoke before, the group is limited to 10, so if 2 more Election Day Castaways would like to join us, please get in touch, soon! Thanks, Ellen:goodvibes

I was just informed by a tour rep that when we all enter Mexico, they require we use a "biodegradable" sunscreen. O.K. I found out that Hawaiian Tropic has one, but not in the USA. Anybody have suggestions of a good one, I have a redhead who will be on the table dressed as dinner if he's not protected well.

Count my redhead in too!

I just bought (expensive too) Mexitan??? I found it online and apparently after speaking to someone at karate tonite who frequents Mexico, it's one of the best. She states it doesn't smell beachy, but works well. I thought I give it a try on everyone this summer prior to getting on trip. Not a time to try in Sept/Oct or when we get there to say "oops didn't work". If it can take the summer LBI beach, I should do just fine in Mexico or anywhere else for that matter.

I wonder if other cruisers know this too??

I'm not sure how they will enforce us only using biodegradable sunscreen. I figure we'll just sunscreen before getting off the ship so that there is no problem. Are they checking what we carry off the ship? Also, I think DCL would notify passengers if this was going to be a problem.

From what I gather, they DO check your bags when entering certain parks and if caught using on their beaches fines are imposed. Why risk it? Besides I don't want to feel guilty :guilty: killing marine life. I've got no problem using what they ask. Like the saying goes " when in Rome do as Romans do". :dance3: I don't know why Disney doesn't notify, but it could be because they probably sell the biodegradable on ship at a hefty price and CHA-CHING !!!!

In case you were wondering, sunset will be at 5:46 when we're there. I'm so glad, when I was in Key West before I did not see ONE SUNSET because it was raining the whole time...not that we didn't have a blast anyway, but I'd STILL like another shot at seeing a fabulous Key West sunset!!!:thumbsup2 :worship:

Hi! We're going to book brunch on the Key West day, going to try for 10:30- Boyspapa is booking then, too, and I think Feenie? Are you planning on brunch then, too? Can we all sit together? It would be so fun!!
Is anyone else thinking of doing brunch that day? Do we link our ressies together somehow? I'm going to call DCL and ask what to do, please pm or post if you're interested!! The more, the merrier!!:thumbsup2

Ellen

It may open at 10 am that day because of Key West- if that's the case, I'm booking for 10. On the phone DCL told me when you make a reservation, the # of what's available will come up- she said I'd be able to book for a 2, 4, or 6 top. Is that right?
