November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

Hi. Has anyone ever been there at Thanksgiving time ? We have been to WDW several times and I am trying to talk my husband into going at Thanksgiving. How bad are the crowds?:confused3

I went at Thanksgiving in 2003. I don't remember it being too bad except for the MK on the Monday before Thanksgiving. It was no where near as crowded as last Feb. when I went during President's Week/ Mardi Gras. I can remember riding lots of things in MK on Thanksgiving Day without a lot of wait. We had Thanksgiving Dinner at the Cape May cafe. I want to do something different this time. When do they publish the restaurants that have a special holiday buffet or different entrees. Does a restaurant like Boma offer traditional Thanksgiving fare on its buffet?

We found a great meal at artiste pointe at Wilderness lodge last year.

Year before that we had Turkey at the House. Baked by "Gramy" Very nice!

Year before that was "Thanksgiving at the FORT- Mickeys BBQ" Lotsa fun. (very loud tho) Ticketed event.

Not sure about Boma. Of course LTT...but I would imagine its such a madhouse it wouldnt be enjoyable. That said Ive never tried it.

We couldn't wait until November to go either, so we are going to Disney's Vero Beach in August. :)

Hello...

I am still new to this web site.. I have been looking at the november list as as wondering if any one can shed some light on the crowds. My Hubby and I are thinking about Nov 29- Dec 6th. We were going to go Dec 6- 13th but read on here that it is Pop Werner and Mousefest that week. Any tips would be awesome!

From my own experience with the Nov/dec dates, it's our favorite time to go. Crowds were very managable. Hardly any wait times, except for the popular rides, which then were maybe 20 minutes. And the weather is perfect.

Ressies were pretty easy to get for table service meals.

We are now going Dec 10-19 because we got a code. I am still happy about the dates cause it's still better than going in June or even September. Which we've been and it's wall to wall bodies.

Well i am a newbie to DISboards and i am finding it very imformative!! We are going Nov. 24th - Nov. 28th!! I am soooo excite! The last few times we went it was the beginning of Nov, our kids were young and either weren't in school or maybe in 1st or 2nd grade. Now all 3 are in school.. so we decided to pick a time when they wouldn't miss much school. Our dates will work out perfect, cuz they will only miss 2 days of school.. the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving! :dance3:

It's always exciting when things are falling into place!

We are heading to the World on Thanksgiving day (probably won't do parks that day). We will be there until Dec 6!

We can't wait. I feel like it has been so long since we have been there! But we just got back 3 weeks ago. We LOVE Disney World. DH had me plan the trip on our second day there!

Got a booking question for this time of year, looks like the airfare rates will be a lot cheaper if I leave on Sunday Nov 23rd and return of Tuesday Dec 2nd rather than my initial plans of leaving on Friday Nov 21 and returning on Sunday Nov 30th, over a $1200 savings per the Airtran dates, I am assuming Southwest will be similar when they post for those dates. I am planning to leave the sunday before Thanksgiving returning the Tuesday after. Going to do a split stay for POFQ Sun-Sat, then 3 nights at the Poly from Sat-Tues. will not get concrete airline info from Southwest for a couple months. My question is should I book the resorts now since they are available or could I wait until May to book, will this still be enough time in advance to book a room for this holiday week? Just doing a garden view for the Poly and standard view for POFQ.

This is so great!! There are so many more people going during my week! I was the only one for a while there. Maybe we could get a DISMeet together!

Chi - If it were me, I would book now. You can always change it later with no penalty.

My philosophy is, you can never book too early. Why not reserve it with a room only ressie for now. That way your deposit is only 1 nights lodging per ressie. You can always add a package on later, or change your ressie without penalty. However, there is a cut off date for that. I think it's 45 days????

I would just hate it if I waited, and the dates I had wouldn't work due to room availability.

Good luck!

We are going Nov. 5 - 16th and staying at Pop Century!! We can't wait to go back :yay:.
