MarshallandCartersmo
?Week of Thanksgiving? @ Offsite

Everyone please check to see if your info is correct.

MarshallandCartersmo--- I don't have exact info for you--- want me to put you in?????

Now here's a question for all of you-
during our May trip- we didn't take but a couple of pics- I know- awful. We do it every time b/c I'm too lazy to carry a huge camera into the parks-
anyway- I have written a GINORMOUS TR (It's more like a novel- it's verrrrrrry long) but it has no pics. WOuld anyone like to read it? I have one day left to write (our last day- we did 3 parks!!!) so it isn't completely done- I'm working on it!!

Let me know, and I'll post it. If nothing else, you could print it off and have good bedtime reading material, LOL.

Jo

I would love to read the report Jo. That is where I learn the most so please post.

Also, could you add me to the list. Nov 25-Dec 1, Contemporary Resort MK View.

Thanks,
Erika

N10CJT - Thanks for the info on the Brewing Grille beers. We'll have at least one for sure.

Jo - What a great idea to print off a trip report. I never thought of doing that before. Geez, I could read it whilst floating in the pool. :bitelip: I would love to read yours. Like others, I learn from them too :thumbsup2

Okay- y'all asked for it..................:rotfl2:

(I'll be posting in installments-)

So….
We’re off. Here’s the start of my TR to make you all laugh. Sit back and enjoy the show!

Background for all who do not know me:
I'm a SAHM to 3 kids, ages 13, 9 and 6. We live just north of pittsburgh PA but I'm originally from Charleston, SC. We have moved around the last ten years- living in Rochester NY, and Bentonville Arkansas before coming here. We've been in this house for 8 months.
So I still have a Southern Twang- people still look at me and say "Where are you from?" when I open my mouth. So pour yourself a glass of sweet tea, get comfy and read this in your mind with a bit of that twang floating through your head, and you'll have me down perfectly. It'll be like you have your very own narration goin on.;)

The last time we took the kids to WDW was in 2006 (they went twice that year...it's not like they are deprived or anything, LOL) and we have been planning our October vacation since I first started this thread. Originally it was going to be a November Vacation- hence the OctoNoveCember'ers on "THE LIST".

One morning in April, DH (Mark) looked at me over his steaming cup of coffee and with a twinkle in his eye, he expressed interest in a May trip. I offered many places to visit- including Boston, NYC, Cinnci, Niagara, you name it, I threw it out... EXCEPT...
for WDW- only b/c it didn't occur to me he'd want to go with the trip in Oct already being on the books.

He said "Nope- we went to Disney last May (Without the kiddos- for a business meeting for him-) and I want to go back. In a couple of weeks." Blew my brain. How was I going to throw together a trip in that short amount of time when I plan for a year for one????

We went back and forth, which resort?- who's got availability?-, rental car codes?- do we need a car and why don't we take the ME??, ADR's- we can't get into Le Cellier or Ohana or anywhere really cool, dang it-

and then three weeks later- we find ourselves cramming clothes into suitcases for a whirlwind trip that would become our best trip yet...

Tuesday 5/13-
Left the house at 4:30, just like we wanted. Zoomed down the interstate- Mark wanted to go through the city through the tunnels- “it will be faster”. Heh heh heh heh- so we’re tearing up the pavement- go around PNC park- the stadium- wham! Standstill traffic. I said oh no, why is there so much traffic? Mark says it builds starting at 4:30 everyday. Um, hello???? We could’ve gone the other route?!? So we’re inching at this point towards the tunnels Mark says, “look to your left”.

There’s the trouble. Oh, isn’t that swell? They’re shooting a movie. Right there in Pittsburgh’s everyone’s off from work, ready to go home traffic, they have the freakin trailer bed with the car on the back- spotlights on it, actor inside (couldn’t tell who it was) cameras rolling, cars behind it honking the horns…. A movie, people!!!

My word. Inch towards the tunnels. We’re inching. Inching still- inching. Finally- a break- Mark takes it and we’re off. Through the tunnels like a greased pig.

Wooo-pig-soooiieeeeee!!!

Come out on the other side and see on the other side of the road- MORE movie stuff! This time, there was a taxi with actors in it- with three cop cars side by side holding the traffic back. I swear to you- OJ Simpson’s run from the law didn’t have as many cars following. The traffic went from the tunnels ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way to the airport. For those of you who are so lucky to not be from here, it’s about a 30 minute ride. Okay- anyway- we made up for lost time by going 85 mph down the highway. Um, did I miss something? Am I on Test track already?????

Get to the airport, take the long shuttle to SW’s terminal, walk up to the counter to check in. The lady is eyeing my luggage- Mark says “Why’d you bring the hearse?” (he has named my HUGE suitcase that b/c he swears I could hide a body in it-) I said “It’s not hearse- it’s Hearse Jr.” He was in disbelief. I had already asked him to pick it up and tell me how much he thought it weighed since we don’t own a scale. He had said 48 pounds, guessing.
The airport scale said 47.7 pounds. Very very good. I can buy 2.3 pounds of something. Yay me!

We checked into SW in about 3 minutes- I love that airline- and we had 2 hours
to spare. Time for the first meal of vacation! TGIFridays for some really greasy yummy stuff. We went in and I checked out the menu while Mark worked on his Treo doing last minute work stuff. I gave him the one raised eyebrow look and he put it away. Time for vacation! Bring on the cheeseburgers!

Yep- cheeseburgers. First we ordered the sampler platter with cheesesticks and potato skins and wings- then ordered burgers with swiss and fries. I tell you all this because we never order anything like that. It’s usually the low fat boring grilled veggies and salmon or grilled chicken something that is never any good. When Mark ordered all that for us I was in shock. Vacation mode! Yippee!! The first bite of that burger was indescribable. Party in my mouth, definitely. Who cares that it’s like 980 grams of fat? I’ll just walk it off tomorrow, I said.

The plane ride was great- no complaints. We had group A boarding position 30 & 31. Got great seats. Looked at magazines until the pilot announced we were over Columbia SC- awwwww---- we got wistful for home- then we were over Savannah- and saw all of the beautiful lights of Charleston’s sister city- then Mark said “I just know we’ll fly over Gainesville- look for The Swamp.” ( Florida Gators stadium) I said, “If I’m looking that hard for the stadium, I want Tim Tebow down there waving the Heisman Trophy at me”. No such luck.

Landed in Orlando right on time- 9:55. Baggage came quickly and we took the long behind walk from baggage claim to the Dollar rental car check in. Walked right up to the counter, and got a foreign lady that I couldn’t understand. She starts telling us that the car we rented (a Dodge Caliber-) just might not be the car for us, because it “doesn’t have power windows or locks, and wouldn’t it be nice to upgrade for only 11 dollars more a day”. Well, any married woman knows that as soon as someone starts talking to their man about cars- their ears prick up. Mark is not convinced that he really wants the teeny-tiny car with no power windows or locks- I mean, how is he gonna find the car after leaving it in the parking lot all day without the panic button??? He’s looking like he wants to bite- and I said – “If you had’ve wanted the Dodge Charger, I could have upgraded us for $4 more a day- you said we’d be fine in the Caliber-“. Raised eyebrow from me again. Mark says “Fine” sort of huffy. I mean really- power windows and locks??? We’re gonna start our vacation by having a spat over power windows and locks???

Get the keys- I’m carrying my pocketbook that I stole from Belle (a present from us from last May- it has Mickey on it!!) and nothing else.
I look back and Mark is dragging his brief case, his duffel, my makeup case, and Hearse Jr. Cue the music…What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man- yes he is… Salt-N-Peppa’s playing in my head. Only he’s not looking too happy. Happy moment is over. I just know he is stewing over not having power windows and power locks. And I am laughing in my head over the silliness of the situation- the car is parked in the very last space in the very last row. Mighty Good Man is not happy. I pull out the key that I had been handed 5 minutes ago and look down as we approach the car- ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

No power locks or windows, aye? I hit the panic button just to be a PITA and Mighty Good Man starts to grin. He says “that lady lied? We had power locks and windows all along? Why would she do that?” “It’s her job, Baby. That’s what they do.” Mighty Good Man is once again a mighty happy man and we climb into the car, him grinning from ear to ear because he has a panic button, me grinning from ear to ear because the Heavens smiled upon me by giving us a panic button. We roll down the power windows to catch that Florida nighttime breeze we both love and we’re off- zooming down the highway once again.

We zip right up to Publix to get our 2 cases of water that we always buy for the trip right at 10:35 PM. Not bad, I say to Mighty Good Man. He just smiles. We walk into our favorite grocery store hand in hand and smile because we love Publix. It’s like coming home.

Grab a few items and head to the water aisle. Stand there smiling looking like two doofuses just at the situation and see that Aquafina is on sale for $4.99 a case. Woo- hoo! Grab two and proceed to checkout. The clerk begins to ring us up and I notice that the water is coming up $6.99 a case. So I said that it was ringing up at the wrong price. Well, you would have thought I was trying to get filet mignon at ground chuck prices. They sent three different people over to check the price then a manager came and walked to the aisle to reconfirm the thrice confirmed confirmation. All the while, people behind me are getting restless and frustrated. I’m holding my ground- Mighty Good Man was ready to bolt. The manager says “well, that was last week’s special- they forgot to take down the ad” so we say oh we’ll pay the full price- and the mgr says no- “you’ll get one case for free, one case for $4.99 because it was our fault” Woo- hoo! Mighty Good Man is once again a Mighty Happy Man and in awe of my unwavering stance.

Head out the door to the car and down the road to All Star Music. Get there just as a Magical Express shows up and realize that those people on it look like they didn’t have a magically express trip. I’m thankful for my power windows, locks and the free water. I’d say I’M the one with the magical express trip. Tee- hee.

Get to the check in and the lady greets us and I explain that i had requested Jazz and that I had called and was told I'd be in Broadway--- could she do anything bout it? She tells me I am indeed in Broadway, but let her see if we can be moved. A few phone calls and a few minutes later we were out the door- keys to a first floor room in the Jazz bldg in hand. We park the power lock car after driving around trying to find the correct building and finally get into the room.

Here are my thoughts on the room- it’s okay. Nothing special. The location of our room is good. We're only about twnty steps from the parking lot. However, The whole layout of the buildings, the big icons, the feel of the resort- it all reminds me of Pop, which we don’t like. Mighty Good Man is trying to gauge my reaction. He asks if I want to move to another hotel. He’s on this earth to make me happy, you know. I once again am standing my ground. We’ll only be here to shower and sleep I remind him and so I take a shower and fall into bed at 12:42 AM.

A nice beginning to a MAY vacation…

Up next: The Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Liberty Tree Tavern!!!

Now here's a question for all of you-

Jo

Oh you know I wanna read it, even without photos!

So here's where we left off...

Wednesday 5/14 – On tap: Magic Kingdom

We wake up at 6:30 AM and we are red eyed like we just flew with our heads out the window of the power lock car ala Beau Gator the Bulldog (our dog-) looking for his Burger King cheeseburgers. (He's rotten and always gets to go through the drive thru if he's been a good boy..) :rotfl: I say I’m taking a shower, Mighty Good Man says he’s going to go run TGIFriday’s off from the night before.

I get into the shower and I’m just starting to feel a bit more awake when I look and see… mold…
All over the walls- in the grout of the shower. Nice, I say, and make a note not to touch anything. ewww, gross.

I get ready, Mighty Good Man comes in sweating up a storm, and as I'm getting ready, he gets into the cold shower and I’m waiting for it… waiting… waiting… “ARRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

There it is.

“BABY! There’s mold in here!!!! We’re moving to the Poly!!”:rotfl2:

I calmly reply what do you expect for $84 a night and he gets out and gets ready all the while trying not to touch anything that hasn’t been doused in Clorox spray that we brought.

We hop into the power lock car and he says for the second of a hundred times that he is so happy that I stood my ground when the lady told us to upgrade the car. We zoom out of the parking lot and get to the MK in record time. It’s 8:35. Hop the tram and go to the tix window to double check the days we had left on our hopper from last year. 4 park days left and 6 water parks and more options left. Yippee!

Onto the Pink monorail (in honor of Belle, since she wasn’t with us) and zipped through the Contemporary, wistfully wishing we were staying there. Get to the MK and see that they are just starting the opening ceremony for park opening. Got to bag check just as they open the park and see the DISer that posted on the MAYer thread helping to open the park. Aww- I didn’t know then that it was a DISer, but I remember commenting to Mighty Good Man that they looked like a nice family. Awwwww.

Scoot under the train station and wham. People. Lots of them. I was scared.

Walked briskly to Tommorrowland where the rope was still up. Waited 4 minues and then the Countdown began and we were off towards Space Mtn. Mighty Good Man got FP’s and I stood in line behind about 100 people.
Already.
How the heck did that happen? We walked all through the ride, never stopping until the split- only the right side was open. Good. I like that side better anyway. Waited for 10 minutes to board. I got in front, Mighty Good Man is behind me and we are out in Space! Very good ride.

We walk to Buzz and ride- the sign says 10 minute wait, we had about a three minute walk through the line. I was on the left, Mighty Good Man was trying to steer and proceeded to whip me by scoring 129,000 to my measly 8,900 points. I promise to beat him later and we walk to try to find coffee.

Any coffee.

I didn’t care what it looked or tasted like. I needed it. The place we always get it is the Enchanted grove- right at the teacups. It was 9:30 and they didn’t open until 10 am. What the heck? So we walked to Pooh and rode the fat bear’s ride, all the while commenting on how the parks were beginning to look empty. Must have been the mad morning rush. Realized it was going to be a light crowd day and then walked to Peter Pan. Mighty Good Man grinned ear to ear, reliving his boyhood- it’s his favorite childhood ride- and it was a walk on.

Ten o’clock, time for coffee!

Walked to that spot tucked away on the side of the castle near Liberty Square. Got a latte, Mighty Good Man got a regular coffee.

Went and sat for about 45 minutes in the rocking chairs by the Hall of Presidents. At that moment, we were both very happy and relaxed. Pulled out power bars and we had breakfast. Rocked and rocked till we felt like we should be doing something more. Walked over to Splash and got FP’s for later in the day.

Walked onto BTMRR- and called Mary C (our oldest) who was at home from school with a high fever. She listened as we rode- she rode it with us! Haha. It made her smile so we felt a bit better about leaving her when she was sick.

Walked onto POTC- went to the right side- everyone else went left- herd mentality, you know. There was a 20 minute wait posted here. Not for us. The left side was packed. Hint, hint. ;) Got front row. Woo hoo! Looked at Captain Jack and realized the robot looks all together too real. Wanted to join my great great great great great uncle something another who was a pirate (I'm being serious...) and sang “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirate’s life for me.” Made a mental note to find out said Great great Uncle something another’s pirate name.

Walked to HM to see the new stuff and we liked it a whole bunch! The stair room is really neat. The new Bride room is freaky. The cars are good now with the new speakers. Very enjoyable ride. The ring is now gone. So sad. The kids always loved looking for it after the ride.

Walked out at 11:45. Time for lunch- right on schedule at Columbia Harbor House. Our favorite CS at the MK. Unfortunately, the menu has changed and they no longer serve the Galley salad. So I got the new Harvest salad and Mighty Good Man got the tuna sandwich with chips. The salad was good. It had chicken, squash, broccoli, sunflower seeds, lettuce and some other things I can’t remember. Picked up a packet of the bleu cheese dressing and one of the olive oil balsamic vinagrette light dressings. Sat down upstairs, by a window in a corner where it was quiet and peaceful. (One of the reasons we love this place). Noticed that the entire packet of bleu cheese dressing was 24 grams of fat. :scared1: Back to reality. Olive oil dressing it is.

Finished up and decided we were finished with the MK- already?! We were supposed to be here all day and we'd done all we wanted to do?!? So we hopped the monorail over to Epcot. What a nice ride. We enjoyed it. I know that i have ridden from Epcot to the MK but somehow I've never ridden from the MK to Epcot. It was great. Got into Epcot and looked into the art store there. Found a numbered painting of the Black Pearl that we salivated over and considered buying. Saw the price and Walked out with nothing, haha.

Saw that Soarin had a 60 minute stand by wait at this point. Went to Test track and got FP’s. Walked to my favorite restroom in all of Epcot, LOL, and saw that the building that it is attached to had a lot of people coming and going, part of it was roped off. Didn’t think much about it and walked inside. Mighty Good Man waited outside for me.
When I was washing my hands, I noticed this blonde girl and a black girl rushing into the bathroom. Still didn’t think anything about it. We didn’t realize until the next day what was going on with them, and who they were. :rolleyes1

Walked the WS and had a Kaki Gori in Japan when it got a bit warm. Very good, just like always. I got strawberry, Mighty good Man had strawberry and cherry.
We went to the dupont outdoor living patio (there for the flower and Garden party) next to Morocco and sat for about an hour. We did the same thing last year and thoroughly enjoyed the rest. Mark was able to do a bit of work on his Treo while I rested. It was a pleasnt day as far as weather. Of course, our winter has been yucky, so anything was a welcome change.

Rode the ride in Mexico- I love it. Found some things to buy the kids, but decided to wait until the last day to get them (Big mistake in hindsight). Went back and rode Test Track. 10 minute wait in FP line. Fun ride, as always.

Back to the front to ride Space Ship earth. What a disappointment.
Tiny spoiler ahead- skip over this next paragraph if you don't want to know anything about it-

It’s always been my favorite ride in Epcot. I’ve always loved going in there when it’s hot and you need a cool dark place to rest and regroup. I love the whole Rome burning smell, the monotone monologue and always try to ride it at least twice in a trip. Not this time. Dame Judy Dench just really doesn’t work for me in this voice over. I don’t “get” her sound- it doesn’t jive with the sights you are seeing. The beginning of the ride is somewhat cheesy with them taking your picture, and then you see some things are the same- the cavemen, etc. Most of the ride is the same, until the ending. It is very disappointing in that you feel like you are waiting for a big dramatic ending and all you get is fluff. I don’t care for the cartoon of you living in the future with your big heads on the screen, made from the pic they took in the beginning. My picture was awful, for heaven’s sake. At least give us a warning, please, so that you can look proper. Ha ha.

Ok- spoiler alert over.. moving on...

It was 4:45 and time to head back to the MK for LTT dinner. Uh oh. Monorail to the MK was down, out of order. :headache: We had to ride the bus back to the MK. At this point, I was thankful for the power lock, power window car and made a note to never second guess the rental car idea.

Finally made it back to the MK and checked into the LTT. Had a 15 minute wait and watched a few children have complete meltdowns before supper. That was entertaining. :( Then we experienced an ugly acting woman who was very full of herself, cutting everyone in line trying to check in. I guess she thought she was too good for lines. um, hello?! There is one door. And out the door is one line. And that one line leads up to the podium. She didn't care. Marched right in and pushed others aside. Un freakin believable. Mighty Good Man said that if you were with her, you’d always have a character meal, to which I laughed out loud, and people looked at me suspiciously.

Supper with the characters was good. We didn’t have kids or a camera, so the characters just sort of walked off after greeting us, but I did hug Dale who was a very, very good hugger. Kind of squishy and huggy. Our waiter from Haiti was very nice and Mark left him an extra large tip. The food was the same as always. Kind of a Thanksgiving feast . Loved the mashed potatoes. We also had the ham, flank steak, turkey, gravy, stuffing, green beans and mac n cheese. Dessert was apple cobbler with ice cream which we asked for on the side. A+ meal.... one we always enjoy.

After dinner we rode the TTA and walked to the front of the castle to get ready for Wishes. We found a bench in the forecourt that had a sweet lady and two gentlemen sitting on it. I asked if I could possibly sit with them and the older lady was so kind! She scooted way down and talked to me while Mighty Good Man went in search of coffee for us. She told me all about herself, and I told her about the kids being at home sick. When the temps started dropping, she said “Dear, I have a sweatshirt that you must put on. It’s getting a bit chilly out here and you’ve been in the sun all day. You don’t want to get sick.” Well, really I wasn’t cold, I had coffee and it was actually just starting to feel good to me. So I declined, but she turned to her husband and told him that she was worried about me. Some people are so sweet. I hope to be like her when I am old and grey.

Wishes began and of course I cried and made three wishes, because one is never enough for me.
We told the older couple goodbye and wished them a good vacation, then walked around the back of the castle- through Fantasyland and around the empty park while it cleared out.

Got back to Main St. with no one there and went and bought some pins for the kids for the October trip. Walked out of the store, walked onto the monorail with only two other people and found our car, thanks to the Panic button. Okay, not really- b/c our car was only one of three left in the Minnie parking lot. No panic needed.

Got back to the room, took a shower and was asleep by midnight. Great day was had by all!

Up next: Epcot, a Dream won, and who was that girl? We find out the identity of the Bathroom Bandits….

Oh I see you're trying the Boma breakfast too! I've heard yummy things about it over on the dining board so we are going to fill up there on our last day before driving home.

Making ADRs is hard. Too many restaurants I want to try and not enough days LOL

We only made ADRS for dinner & finally went with:

Nov 7 Big River Grille & Brewing Works
Nov 8 Eating in our villa after Cirque
Nov 9 Narcossee's
Nov 10 Coral Reef
Nov 11 Akershus
Nov 12 Crystal Palace
Nov 13 Boma
Nov 14 Sci-Fi
Nov 15 Boma breakfast

We'll have to just go back for another trip & try more!

We're doing the same thing! Trying Boma for breakfast on the morning we leave. We will fill up so we won't have to stop to eat as fast! We did that last year, and our last breakfast was Chef Mickey's. It was great fun, taking the monorail for a loop on the last morning and ending it with the characters. However, I thought we'd try something new since we ALWAYS go to Chef Mickey's every trip for breakfast!

Your ADRs look great, btw! :thumbsup2

Man Jo! I hate having to wait to see who those girls were...LOL I am not patient like that.

Hi all, we JUST booked our trip to WDW for Nov 14-21!! I am BEYOND excited...so are my boys (4 and 3). Probably shouldnt have told them yet!

I'm already behind but trying to catch up with your report! popcorn::

So I still have a Southern Twang- people still look at me and say "Where are you from?" when I open my mouth. So pour yourself a glass of sweet tea, get comfy and read this in your mind with a bit of that twang floating through your head, and you'll have me down perfectly. It'll be like you have your very own narration goin on.;)

I now have a voice in my head like this. :rolleyes1

It wasn't Johnny Depp so don't worry about who it was. ;)

Through the tunnels like a greased pig.

:rotfl2:

He says “that lady lied?

Now see, that would be enough to make me never use Dollar again. :furious:

and the mgr says no- “you’ll get one case for free, one case for $4.99 because it was our fault”

Way to go! I love when that happens! :cool1:

Here are my thoughts on the room- it’s okay. Nothing special. The location of our room is good.

We stayed in the Jazz building in '96. We really liked the location, didn't have any noise, our view was the parking lot but we didn't care. Sounds like a great start minus movie boy in the middle of your highway. :cutie:

I get into the shower and I’m just starting to feel a bit more awake when I look and see… mold…

 I would have called went off in technicolor!

I calmly reply what do you expect for $84 a night

I expect a clean shower :confused3

Mighty Good Man said that if you were with her, you’d always have a character meal,

:lmao:

Got back to the room, took a shower and was asleep by midnight.

Was the mold gone? :(

We booked our trip about a 8 months ago and based our dates on the November 2007 calendar. I love Christmas lights and decorations. So with my schedule and the DW's schedule we are going Nov 22-28, thinking we would see the Osbornes Christmas light display.

So I have some questions for all the experts out here to help me plan.

1) What time do they turn the lights on? (Thinking I may be able to rent a car and get to the airport, or just drive to Disney)

2) Are the lights really that spectacular? We go to festival of lights around NC all the time, am I really missing out on the Christmas fun and Merryment?:santa:

3) If enough people call/e-mail and complain would they change the dates or not?

1. It's near or after dark. I think they go on at 6.00 and stay on until the park closes. In any case, despite what the website says now, they will almost definitely be up for at least part of your trip (and probably all of it), as all the Christmas stuff is up by Thanksgiving week.
2. For me..... no. But lots of people are blown away by them, and I admit that I can see why, as the sheer volume and brightness of them is remarkable. For my part, it's just a giant waste of energy and is more about ostentatious display than Christmas spirit (I much prefer the lights in Epcot and the decorations at various resorts), but if you're really into Christmas lights I think you'll really enjoy it.
3. Not a chance in hell. Well...... I suppose if 3 million people called..... well, on second-second thought, I think something on the end of 3 million people called about the hours, and they responded with 3 million form e-mails and made-up stories.....:rotfl2:

p.s. I count 4 questions total..... :goodvibes

1. According to Samantha Brown they go on at 6:00. :thumbsup2

2. I've never seen them but I'm HIGHLY disappointed that they probably won't be up for our trip. :(

3. I wouldn't hold my breath. :worship:

And Jo -- you're killing me. Who the heck are they girls? Where's the update man? I'm so hooked on this story LOL

I'll be there around the same time as you. I think the lights went on at 6p? they are neat to watch turn on and "dance" to the music (pulsate, go on and off) and there is "bubble" snow that comes down. then it's just a lot of people and a lot of lights. but I love it and I want to see it when I go. :furious: :headache:  (pouting like a little kid). I made my plans and can't change the plane flight....I would pay for 2 extra hotel nights just to be able to see them but I can't. I based the choice to go on the ability to get inexpensive plane tickets (especially as gas is getting so high).

I sent an e-mail to Disney from a link in the "Obsourne Lights" thread here...then later I read that someone got their response and were told they had the dates and probably weren't going to change them. but no harm in sending numerous e-mails!

waiting patiently for Jo's update...will the mold be gone....what fantastic adventures did she experience....and who are the girls...in "As the Dis'ers Post"....

Thursday 5/15
Epcot planned for the day

We decided that we wouldn’t set the alarm all week so we got a slower start to the day. My eyes popped open at 7:30 and I laid there feeling my poor aching body come to life while Mighty Good Man snoozed in the other bed. At 8, I woke Mighty Good Man up and he slowly got moving and went out for a run while I took a moldy shower and got ready.

We finally got into the power lock car after hitting the panic button just because we could and noted that it was ten o’clock, because Mighty Good Man’s watch alarm goes off every day at that time. I commented that we were late, and Mighty Good Man rolled down the power window; again, just because he could.

We zipped out of the parking lot and saw a sea of people waiting for the bus- and saw that the MK spot was full of people, Epcot’s, not so much. Said a prayer of thanks for Tour Guide Mike for the first of many times.

We cruised into the parking lot and parked in Amaze 30 lot. I only remember it because I told Mighty Good Man that I was amazed I wasn’t 30… I’m 29…. again. And I will be always. And we proceeded to bag check.

Welll---- we get up there and the officer that I got was a newbie! His badge had on it “Earning my Ears” and he proceeded to talk my ear off for the next 3 minutes while looking at every article in my bag and commenting on each piece. Mighty Good Man was nice and asked Officer Mouth how his day was going so far and he replied that it was a wonderful day- the sun was shining- the sky was blue- the people he’s seen so far were wonderful… and I’m thinking- “Hellllooooo… we're already late. We have the Soarin’ Stampede to get through- please let me go…” ! We finally get past Officer Mouth after wishing him well and Mighty Good Man looked at me and we busted out laughing. I said that he was new- to which Mighty Good Man asked how I knew that- to which I told him about the badge. Mighty Good Man laughed even harder and said he is making a note to search out Officer Mouth in October to see if his Happy A** is still happy.

We grin the grin of Epcot and walk hand in hand to Soarin for a FP. Lots of people here in the Land Pavillion- the standby time is already 40 minutes, so with FP’s in hand, we walk to search out some coffee that was truly coffee, not that Nescafe Nasty stuff. I had heard that a real coffee place was set up by M:S so we walked there to which we found Nescafe Nasty so we left still searching for the real deal. We remembered that right in front of the lake there was a coffee stand serving the real stuff so we started our journey towards it. It’s now 10:30 and I am starting to feel a bit boo-boo headed from the lack of caffeine. I said I needed to use the restroom- and we head towards my favorite bathroom- the one where the Bathroom Bandits were the day before.

On our way over, right in the middle of the walkway up ahead- I saw a vision that made my heart start beating quickly. I looked at Mighty Good Man and said “Up ahead, what do you see.” He looks and sort of squints one eye to the sun and says “I see a man and a woman talking to a man and a woman”. And I said “But what’s in their hands?????” he looks and says “I don’t know” to which I said “walk quick they'll give us a dream!!!” We get up to them and they yell “Congratulations! You’ve just won Dream Fastpasses as part of the Year of a Million Dreams Give away!”

!!!!Woo the freak Hoo!!!!

Fastpasses around our necks- bathroom break all forgotten- we grin like a you-know-what and skip down the path to the coffee stand. Mighty Good Man becomes Mighty Great Man and orders me up a Superstar (- ‘Superstar’ is JoBird code for coffee with cream and lots of sugar- something I have all but given up except for on special occasions- which this truly was- Mighty Good Man didn’t even ask if I wanted it- he took it upon himself to Superstar me in celebration of the FP’s). We call home and tell Mary C who is still home sick about our luck and she is happy for us. It’s now 10:45 and WS isn’t open yet- we walk to Norway and walk into the little Stave church there to have a moment of quiet time. It’s cool in there and we enjoy our coffee break, feeling very lucky and blessed.

As soon as the rest of WS opens, we’re out the door of the church to China to the Tomb soldiers section. It’s a part of China that I somehow have never been into and so Mighty Good Man and I look around and marvel at the individual faces of each soldier. When we come out, we walk through the Zodiac gardens and then continue on through the rest of WS.

We pop into Germany, so that I could feel in touch with my roots on my dad’s side and Mighty Good Man buys me some bling-age that I find and adore. Awww.

After a spell we realize it’s closing in on noon and we’re getting quite hungry. Having no reservations to any TS restaurant for lunch, we discuss where we want to eat. Mighty Good Man says he really wants either Chinese or Japanese so we look at both CS menus at each country and decide we don’t like either. We look at Nine Dragons menu in China and he decides that it looks pretty good to him. I am afraid, b/c I have heard some not so stellar remarks about the food but suck it up and decide to give my Man what he wants. We are quickly shown to a table that is right next to another table. Not exactly what we had in mind so we ask for a table off to the side. There were around 200 tables in there with maybe 10 people total dining, and yet the waitress said to wait while she checked to see if it would be okay to seat us there. O-Kay……

She comes back to say that the table we requested would NOT be okay, but seats us at the one behind it. ????:confused3 ??? My goodness she was picky. Anyway we both decide that the shrimp stir fry with vegetables sounded good, so we ordered two and waited.

I must say that I am happy we went to this restaurant. Not because it was so good, but only because our pain has been eased and we never have to go there again. LOL. The shrimp were just barely cooked- I mean they were probably plunged into the boiling water and removed immediately. I called them Wobbly- like they could’ve grown legs and walked off of the plate. The vegetables were cooked cauliflower ( gross) and carrots that were practically raw. The sauce was a clear sauce (which I don’t like). Needless to say, I ate 4 shrimp and felt sick, so I excused myself to the bathroom while Mighty Good Man ate both mine and his. His reaction to the entire meal was to say “The white rice was good”, to which I said “No comment”. Our meal there with tip came to $41. Pretty expensive long grain, if you ask me. But no one did, so I digress…

We then walked to Soarin to use our FP’s from earlier and had to stand in line for 20 minutes. This was our longest wait for the entire trip, both in the stand by and FP lines. We lucked out and got the top cart- so we had an unobstructed view of the ride. It might have been the best ride we’ve ever had on it. I leaned forward a bit while going over the skiing portion, looking down and really had a neat sensation of flying. Mighty Good Man gets motion sickness so he sat back fully and enjoyed his flight by looking straight ahead.

We left there and went to TT to use our Dream FP’s. The FP return line was a 10 minute wait so we went in and enjoyed zipping around the track for the second time this trip. We got out and went to the part of the ride where they have all of the different cars. There was a baby blue convertible SAAB, so Mighty Good Man made me sit behind the wheel. Too bad they didn’t have my dream car- a Cadillac CTS- but the SAAB was nice.
We then sat in the Hummer H3- Mighty Good Man was in the drivers seat- and these young kids on a school trip climbed in the back, giggling and having fun, excited to be there. Might Good Man said to them “Buckle up kids, we’re going on a ride” and they all laughed. Then he said “well, since this is such a large car, I don’t think I have enough gas money, so I’m gonna have to ask each of you to donate some to our trip fund.” They all started pulling money out of their pockets and I said “well, the heck with gas money, that’s not fun- who’s got the money for the Cheeseburgers?” to which they all started yelling “Me! I’ve got a Dollar- I’ve got two dollars.” They were giggling and having fun and we climbed out and the parent that was with them smiled a grateful, but beleaguered smile and mouthed “Thank you”. We nodded and off we went.

At this point, I was needing to use the restroom once again and since we were very close to my favorite bathroom (funny, I know, but I have favorites all around each park- Lord help me I have become my Mother)- we decided to stop by it. As we approached the spot- we noticed that part of the building was still roped off where the Bathroom Bandits had been. There was a lady CM stationed outside of it and she motioned to the bathroom. No one was really around, because a lot of people don’t really know it’s there.

So I went inside while Mighty Good Man waited outside by the rope for me. When I came back out, he had a grin on his face like he was the cat that just ate the canary and I said “What happened?” And he says “Well, remember yesterday when you saw those two girls in that bathroom?” :bitelip: I nodded and he said “I just saw the blonde.” :hyper: I nodded again and he said “I know who they are”--- and I’m like “well- who the heck are they???” :bitelip: and he says “Ever heard of a little Production called High School Musical 3 ?” :faint:

And I’m like “Shut the heck up!” He says –“The blonde girl-what’s her name???” and I’m yelling “Ashley Tisdale????”:hyper: he says “Yeah- she just came out with credentials saying HSM3 on it and her agent”. I’m laughing at this point- he is so funny. I tell you that everytime we go to WDW we see famous people- last year it was Corbin Bleu walking next to us by Splash Mtn, this year Ashley Tisdale and that Black girl- I don’t know her name- but she's the one in HSM. And before, we have seen Joey Fatone there as well as David Hasselhoff. So we’re laughing about being all around famous people but we are only famous to each other. So there ya go. Identity of the Bathroom Bandits solved. :cool1:

We comment about how dead that Epcot was, and I told Mighty Good Man that anytime you can put your arms out straight to the sides of your body and walk for twenty feet without touching anyone, you’ve had a great day in The World. He agrees and tries it out. It works. Not a person in sight. Sigh. A very good day indeed.

At this point, we are tired and go back to the Dupont outdoor patio place for a respite and call home to talk to the kids. Mary C was still sick and having issues of major levels and my Mom was concerned enough to want to take her to the ER. I calmed everyone down and gave out Nurse Jo’s free advice and made sure everything was okay. It had been about an hour and a half and we got up and backtracked to Norway to ride Maelstrom
( we were in the last seat). Then we went back through Morocco, France, the UK and Canada before heading all the way back around for a reservation for dinner at Mexico.

Now I know that it is a place that always gets mixed reviews. We eat there every trip. Last year when we were there, we really thought it had gone way down since 10 years ago when we were on our Honeymoon. But not being ones to break with tradition, we went in and had an open attitude about it. We asked to be seated by the water and we were, just as the Mariachi band began to play. We ordered the nachos and when they came out, we were very pleasantly surprised! They were actually VERY good! We ordered the Platos Mexicanos- the dish with a steak, one enchilada and one flauta. It was, again, surprisingly good! So our faith has been restored in this restaurant- at least for this time. Our total was $71 with tip.

When we finished, I remembered that a DIS'er friend from the MAYer thread and I sort of tentatively planning on meeting up at France’s Patisserie, so I suggested to Mighty Good Man that we go over there. We walked through the shops casually but I didn’t see her and Mighty Good Man was getting restless. He wanted to hop over to the MK for the second showing of Spectro, so we left Epcot, finding our car via the panic button. Again, I was Amazed at not being Thirty- and we rolled down our power windows and sang songs.

As we entered the MK area, I saw a sign I had not seen before-- it said “Ironman event parking”

Oh snap!!!!!!!!!! I yell to Mighty Good Man- “Holy canoli, Baby! Some of our very best friends from South Carolina are here! How the heck could I have forgotten, he was going to run the Ironman.”:faint:
It had been a couple of months since we had talked to them so I had forgotten that they were going to be there. The wife had asked me if we would go down with them the last time we had talked and I had told her no that we were waiting for October. For sake of the story from here on out, the friends will be known as Mighty Good Neighbors b/c they were our neighbors when we had our first house in Charleston.

We get into the parking lot and see a sea of cars. They are parking people allllllllllllllllllllllll the way back in the back parking lot. Still not as bad as Christmas 2005 when we had to park on the grass, but crowded nonetheless. Mighty Good Man comments that it is crowded- a lot more than Epcot and we both say simultaneously “Thanks Tour Guide Mike!!” ;)

We hop the tram and then get on the ferry b/c the monorai is crowded- and get into the MK and realize it’s 5 minutes until the first showing of Spectro. There are bodies everywhere- squished in, no room to move bodies. We hop the train, riding it to Toontown and swim our way through a herd of people to get coffee at the Enchanted Grove. We are happy that it isn’t 10 o’clock, b/c that’s what time they close. We get our coffee and make our way to the bridge connecting Main Street and Tommorowland. We sat for a minute and then walked back around To the Noodle Station where we decided that we’d like to get to Adventureland before Wishes began. Um, easier said than done at this point.

We pushed and shoved our way through a billion and a half thirty eight people, still thanking TGM for his wise predictions, only to come out in Adventureland with only a few people around. Rode POTC with a 5 minute wait and when we came out, Wishes was just beginning. We ran to BTMRR and tried to get on it while the fireworks were still going. We got on with only a few minutes wait, but alas, for some reason that night they didn’t run a train during the finale. We were on the train immediately following and watched as the line went from a walk on to a 40 minute wait immediately. I would definitely recommend riding it at night if you haven't. A totally different ride- it's faster, for one, b/c it's been running all day in the sun, and two- it's just a neat experience at night.

We staked out a spot in Frontierland for the second showing of Spectro and watched in amazement as the entire park emptied out. Empty. Totally. We were next to only about ten people during the parade and the characters stopped and greeted us. Gepetto waved to me from the float and blew kisses at me while Prince Charming waved and Cinderalla winked. It was truly a wonderful spot and I made a mental note to check for times for Spectro for our trip in October and told Mighty Good Man that we would always come back to the same spot to watch it b/c the character interaction was better than any other place we’ve ever sat.

After the parade came through, we walked backwards through an empty park through Liberty Square and saw the Kiss Goodnight as the castle changed colors. We got onto a nearly empty monorail and got into the power lock car at 12:30. Back to the hotel and showered and asleep by 1 am.

What a truly amazing day!

Up next: DHS, Mighty Good Neighbors and a terrifying Twilight Zone experience on TOT!!!!:scared1:
