So here's where we left off...
Wednesday 5/14 – On tap: Magic Kingdom
We wake up at 6:30 AM and we are red eyed like we just flew with our heads out the window of the power lock car ala Beau Gator the Bulldog (our dog-) looking for his Burger King cheeseburgers. (He's rotten and always gets to go through the drive thru if he's been a good boy..)

I say I’m taking a shower, Mighty Good Man says he’s going to go run TGIFriday’s off from the night before.
I get into the shower and I’m just starting to feel a bit more awake when I look and see… mold…
All over the walls- in the grout of the shower. Nice, I say, and make a note not to touch anything. ewww, gross.
I get ready, Mighty Good Man comes in sweating up a storm, and as I'm getting ready, he gets into the cold shower and I’m waiting for it… waiting… waiting… “ARRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
There it is.
“BABY! There’s mold in here!!!! We’re moving to the Poly!!”
I calmly reply what do you expect for $84 a night and he gets out and gets ready all the while trying not to touch anything that hasn’t been doused in Clorox spray that we brought.
We hop into the power lock car and he says for the second of a hundred times that he is so happy that I stood my ground when the lady told us to upgrade the car. We zoom out of the parking lot and get to the MK in record time. It’s 8:35. Hop the tram and go to the tix window to double check the days we had left on our hopper from last year. 4 park days left and 6 water parks and more options left. Yippee!
Onto the Pink monorail (in honor of Belle, since she wasn’t with us) and zipped through the Contemporary, wistfully wishing we were staying there. Get to the MK and see that they are just starting the opening ceremony for park opening. Got to bag check just as they open the park and see the DISer that posted on the MAYer thread helping to open the park. Aww- I didn’t know then that it was a DISer, but I remember commenting to Mighty Good Man that they looked like a nice family. Awwwww.
Scoot under the train station and wham. People. Lots of them. I was scared.
Walked briskly to Tommorrowland where the rope was still up. Waited 4 minues and then the Countdown began and we were off towards Space Mtn. Mighty Good Man got FP’s and I stood in line behind about 100 people.
Already.
How the heck did that happen? We walked all through the ride, never stopping until the split- only the right side was open. Good. I like that side better anyway. Waited for 10 minutes to board. I got in front, Mighty Good Man is behind me and we are out in Space! Very good ride.
We walk to Buzz and ride- the sign says 10 minute wait, we had about a three minute walk through the line. I was on the left, Mighty Good Man was trying to steer and proceeded to whip me by scoring 129,000 to my measly 8,900 points. I promise to beat him later and we walk to try to find coffee.
Any coffee.
I didn’t care what it looked or tasted like. I needed it. The place we always get it is the Enchanted grove- right at the teacups. It was 9:30 and they didn’t open until 10 am. What the heck? So we walked to Pooh and rode the fat bear’s ride, all the while commenting on how the parks were beginning to look empty. Must have been the mad morning rush. Realized it was going to be a light crowd day and then walked to Peter Pan. Mighty Good Man grinned ear to ear, reliving his boyhood- it’s his favorite childhood ride- and it was a walk on.
Ten o’clock, time for coffee!
Walked to that spot tucked away on the side of the castle near Liberty Square. Got a latte, Mighty Good Man got a regular coffee.
Went and sat for about 45 minutes in the rocking chairs by the Hall of Presidents. At that moment, we were both very happy and relaxed. Pulled out power bars and we had breakfast. Rocked and rocked till we felt like we should be doing something more. Walked over to Splash and got FP’s for later in the day.
Walked onto BTMRR- and called Mary C (our oldest) who was at home from school with a high fever. She listened as we rode- she rode it with us! Haha. It made her smile so we felt a bit better about leaving her when she was sick.
Walked onto POTC- went to the right side- everyone else went left- herd mentality, you know. There was a 20 minute wait posted here. Not for us. The left side was packed. Hint, hint.

Got front row. Woo hoo! Looked at Captain Jack and realized the robot looks all together too real. Wanted to join my great great great great great uncle something another who was a pirate (I'm being serious...) and sang “Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirate’s life for me.” Made a mental note to find out said Great great Uncle something another’s pirate name.
Walked to HM to see the new stuff and we liked it a whole bunch! The stair room is really neat. The new Bride room is freaky. The cars are good now with the new speakers. Very enjoyable ride. The ring is now gone. So sad. The kids always loved looking for it after the ride.
Walked out at 11:45. Time for lunch- right on schedule at Columbia Harbor House. Our favorite CS at the MK. Unfortunately, the menu has changed and they no longer serve the Galley salad. So I got the new Harvest salad and Mighty Good Man got the tuna sandwich with chips. The salad was good. It had chicken, squash, broccoli, sunflower seeds, lettuce and some other things I can’t remember. Picked up a packet of the bleu cheese dressing and one of the olive oil balsamic vinagrette light dressings. Sat down upstairs, by a window in a corner where it was quiet and peaceful. (One of the reasons we love this place). Noticed that the entire packet of bleu cheese dressing was 24 grams of fat.

Back to reality. Olive oil dressing it is.
Finished up and decided we were finished with the MK- already?! We were supposed to be here all day and we'd done all we wanted to do?!? So we hopped the monorail over to Epcot. What a nice ride. We enjoyed it. I know that i have ridden from Epcot to the MK but somehow I've never ridden from the MK to Epcot. It was great. Got into Epcot and looked into the art store there. Found a numbered painting of the Black Pearl that we salivated over and considered buying. Saw the price and Walked out with nothing, haha.
Saw that Soarin had a 60 minute stand by wait at this point. Went to Test track and got FP’s. Walked to my favorite restroom in all of Epcot, LOL, and saw that the building that it is attached to had a lot of people coming and going, part of it was roped off. Didn’t think much about it and walked inside. Mighty Good Man waited outside for me.
When I was washing my hands, I noticed this blonde girl and a black girl rushing into the bathroom. Still didn’t think anything about it. We didn’t realize until the next day what was going on with them, and who they were.
Walked the WS and had a Kaki Gori in Japan when it got a bit warm. Very good, just like always. I got strawberry, Mighty good Man had strawberry and cherry.
We went to the dupont outdoor living patio (there for the flower and Garden party) next to Morocco and sat for about an hour. We did the same thing last year and thoroughly enjoyed the rest. Mark was able to do a bit of work on his Treo while I rested. It was a pleasnt day as far as weather. Of course, our winter has been yucky, so anything was a welcome change.
Rode the ride in Mexico- I love it. Found some things to buy the kids, but decided to wait until the last day to get them (Big mistake in hindsight). Went back and rode Test Track. 10 minute wait in FP line. Fun ride, as always.
Back to the front to ride Space Ship earth. What a disappointment.
Tiny spoiler ahead- skip over this next paragraph if you don't want to know anything about it-
It’s always been my favorite ride in Epcot. I’ve always loved going in there when it’s hot and you need a cool dark place to rest and regroup. I love the whole Rome burning smell, the monotone monologue and always try to ride it at least twice in a trip. Not this time. Dame Judy Dench just really doesn’t work for me in this voice over. I don’t “get” her sound- it doesn’t jive with the sights you are seeing. The beginning of the ride is somewhat cheesy with them taking your picture, and then you see some things are the same- the cavemen, etc. Most of the ride is the same, until the ending. It is very disappointing in that you feel like you are waiting for a big dramatic ending and all you get is fluff. I don’t care for the cartoon of you living in the future with your big heads on the screen, made from the pic they took in the beginning. My picture was awful, for heaven’s sake. At least give us a warning, please, so that you can look proper. Ha ha.
Ok- spoiler alert over.. moving on...
It was 4:45 and time to head back to the MK for LTT dinner. Uh oh. Monorail to the MK was down, out of order.

We had to ride the bus back to the MK. At this point, I was thankful for the power lock, power window car and made a note to never second guess the rental car idea.
Finally made it back to the MK and checked into the LTT. Had a 15 minute wait and watched a few children have complete meltdowns before supper. That was entertaining.

Then we experienced an ugly acting woman who was very full of herself, cutting everyone in line trying to check in. I guess she thought she was too good for lines. um, hello?! There is one door. And out the door is one line. And that one line leads up to the podium. She didn't care. Marched right in and pushed others aside. Un freakin believable. Mighty Good Man said that if you were with her, you’d always have a character meal, to which I laughed out loud, and people looked at me suspiciously.
Supper with the characters was good. We didn’t have kids or a camera, so the characters just sort of walked off after greeting us, but I did hug Dale who was a very, very good hugger. Kind of squishy and huggy. Our waiter from Haiti was very nice and Mark left him an extra large tip. The food was the same as always. Kind of a Thanksgiving feast . Loved the mashed potatoes. We also had the ham, flank steak, turkey, gravy, stuffing, green beans and mac n cheese. Dessert was apple cobbler with ice cream which we asked for on the side. A+ meal.... one we always enjoy.
After dinner we rode the TTA and walked to the front of the castle to get ready for Wishes. We found a bench in the forecourt that had a sweet lady and two gentlemen sitting on it. I asked if I could possibly sit with them and the older lady was so kind! She scooted way down and talked to me while Mighty Good Man went in search of coffee for us. She told me all about herself, and I told her about the kids being at home sick. When the temps started dropping, she said “Dear, I have a sweatshirt that you must put on. It’s getting a bit chilly out here and you’ve been in the sun all day. You don’t want to get sick.” Well, really I wasn’t cold, I had coffee and it was actually just starting to feel good to me. So I declined, but she turned to her husband and told him that she was worried about me. Some people are so sweet. I hope to be like her when I am old and grey.
Wishes began and of course I cried and made three wishes, because one is never enough for me.
We told the older couple goodbye and wished them a good vacation, then walked around the back of the castle- through Fantasyland and around the empty park while it cleared out.
Got back to Main St. with no one there and went and bought some pins for the kids for the October trip. Walked out of the store, walked onto the monorail with only two other people and found our car, thanks to the Panic button. Okay, not really- b/c our car was only one of three left in the Minnie parking lot. No panic needed.
Got back to the room, took a shower and was asleep by midnight. Great day was had by all!
Up next: Epcot, a Dream won, and who was that girl? We find out the identity of the Bathroom Bandits….
