hello,

We are planning a trip to DLR Nov 5 - 15 but we had planned on being in DLR/CA Nov 6,7,8 and then moving on to San Diego. However I see that the tentitive date for the Xmas parade taping is Nov 7. I personally would love to go to the taping as would my 9 yr old but the other three smaller children and grandma not so much :) So we are thinking of going Nov 6, 8, 9 and then heading down to San Diego.

This is going to involve changing two hotel Reservations and rearranging my "trip plan" LOL. Does anyone know if they confirm the date of the taping or is it always tentitive due to rain, etc... before I start rearranging.

Also how cool is the parade? I'm thinking of of taking my oldest and letting Dad and Grandma take the little ones else where for the day. It would mean extra $$ to purchase two one day passes but ...

thanks for the help,
Sarah

Its the one they air Christmas Day. It is very cool on TV and can't imagine how much fun it would be to see it in person. They haven't changed the date from the 7th as of this point. There is someone on this board or another one I frequent that's DD is dancing in the parade. She keeps us up to date on the details. It will be crowded that weekend with all the performers families and those that want to see the action, but it would be well worth it for me personally. I think the little ones and even grandma would like it.

We were there 4 years ago while they were taping. I don't know if they have changed things, but there was no music. You could hear the floats moving! It was weird A guy was off to the side telling people when to cheer and clap! Maybe it's different now. We kind of looked at it for a minutes and went back to riding rides

Maybe before you change hotel reservations, etc....you should watch it on youtube. Not that it isn't a great parade, but that might help you decide how much rearranging you want to do to see the taping...

Yes, so far it's still on November 7th.. If any more details come up, I will post them! :goodvibes

I have been there twice during the taping, and like a PP stated, it is kind of a wierd experience. They don't bring out the whole parade--just the floats they will be showing on-air. And they do the same thing over and over. It's neat to see, and you might get on TV, but just don't go into it thinking you'll see the whole parade.
And also, if you decide to do it, you can add a day on to your PHs, rather than buying one day passes, and it'll be much cheaper.

BillyFan is right..."you MIGHT get on tv" if you're there. Remember, there's a lot of editing going on. I was there a few years back the entire morning during the taping. You'll do the same thing over and over again and watch the same floats go by. It was still fun though to to get up Christmas morning and watch the parade to see if we would be on TV. I think we were in 3 different shots for a total of about 1 second each. Before I could say "There we are!", we were gone. :lmao: A fun experience but I don't know that I would plan my trip around it.

Sorry that I wasn't clear but I was going to change our reservations to AVOID being in the park during the parade. We would take our little ones on the Friday, Sunday, Monday and maybe my older one and I would go by on the Sat.
We had planned on heading down to San Diego on the Monday but if we don't go to DLR on Sat would need the day to visit the parks and head down to San Diego on Tues instead. I had booked our Anaheim hotel for the Thurs-Mon and San Diego for the Mon-Fri.
I don't think we'd want to drive down to San Diego after a day in the park.
