We've planned a trip for early Dec. (4th-11th), mainly because of reduced crowds/cost and the fact that DD8th birthday (& DH b-day) are Dec. 5th. I'm nervous about the weather though...we'll be coming from NY and be looking forward to some warmth. We could plan in Nov., but it would take away from being there on their actually birthdays.

Any thoughts/suggestions??

We've been 3 times in Dec.

The first time it was in the upper 60's and mid 70's during the day. The second time was much warmer, even getting into the 80's. The third time it started out in the upper 70's and by the end of the trip was in the 50's.

I'm betting that is still warmer than NY in Dec. though. Mainly you will need a light jacket, some long sleeve shirts and a few pairs of pants. It creates a bit of a packing challenge, but Dec. is the very best time to go. If you've never been during Christmas, you really must do it. The week you are planning you will have no crowds and the the Christmas shows should be running. You should also be able to make a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party one night.

Good luck!

We could use a little of that FL warmth now!! :D

Thanks for the advice-I really want to be ther for my DD8th birthday, so I guess we'll just hope for the best!!

It's also our first trip-even for my DH who will be turning 37!!

Hi Christy - You and your family will have a great time at Disney at this time of year. All of the resorts and parks will be decorated for Christmas. It really gets you in the holiday spirit. Have a great trip! Have you decided where you are staying? :)

We're going to stay at ASMo for 3 nights, then go to the Poly GVC for four nights (shhhh, that part is a surprise for my husband-we're also celebrating our 10th anniversary). :D

I CAN'T WAIT!! We're trying to keep the surprise of the trip from our DD8 & DD5. Some people have suggested that we wake them up with the news of the trip as we're headed for the airport. Although that sounds like a neat idea, I think they'd go into OVERLOAD. (??)

We went Dec 4 - 10th last year. It is a SLOWER time of year, but MK can be quite busy due to the MVMCP and taping of the Christmas parade. I suggest that if you want any PS at MK to make them right at the 90 day mark. Many people going to the Christmas party grab up these PS so that they can get to the park early. If it is not a MVMCP night, Spectro will probably be running and that impacts dinner plans also. As you can see, we learned this the hard way.

As for the weather, I'm sure anything will be warmer than NY. Last year I did not wear shorts at all, but DH did one day. I did wear short sleeves a couple of times, but always had my jacket. It got very cold at night - one night down to 39.

Pack for anything and have fun!

Thanks sooo much for the info!! I'll be up and have my fingers dialing at 7am on that 90 day mark-I really really want to get PS for CRT for the day of my DD8th birthday!!

My husband's birthday is the same day-any recommendations for a special (family) dinner for that night more geared toward him?

I would go in December. The temperatures are much warmer than NY, and the festivities are bountiful. Plus, you would still celebrate your child's birthday! ::yes::

I've been the last 2 Decembers and the weather has been a toss up. My 2002 trip, it was sunny a few days, cloudy a few days and rained a few days. It was also warm a couple, cool a couple and downright nippy a couple of days. My 2003 trip was totally different. It was great every day, although a little cool in the morning & evening, but not too cold. Swam almost every day. I enjoy going during this time with all the resorts and parks decorated for the holidays and the crowds are not too bad during the week. Be aware that Saturdays at the Magic Kingdom can get crowded. Also, the park hours for the MK are shortened during the week for MVMCP. A must do is the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT. I've done it twice and its wonderful!!
