Nov. & Dec. Hours Changed-MK opens: 8AM, Daily-Starting TODAY

We check in on 12/15 will our Magic Bands already be activated before we check in?

If you purchased your TICKETS as part of your resort package, the tickets won't be activated via the MB until after you check in.

As was mentioned, DME can use the MBs for ID to ride the DME bus, but nothing else will be ready to use until you check in, if you bought a resort package.

I guess I just don't get what's wrong with saying "I'm sorry you had a monkey wrench thrown into your plans at the last minute."

Nobody is saying the world is coming to an end. But anyone reading here on the DIS knows a park plan is like a jigsaw puzzle of park hours, ADRs, and FP+ reservations. Change one piece and it has the potential to affect everything else.

Sorry to everyone who is dealing with this last minute curve ball.
I don't have a problem saying, "sorry you had a wrench thrown at you."

I do have to laugh when someone is asked what they are doing about it, and their response is, "Trying to get a full refund."

Sorry but that does say that early breakfast, in a park, so you can beat everyone to your favorite ride is the only reason you go to Disney. THAT is pretty sad.

+1 :thumbsup2

Can we stop debating how people "should" feel? I subscribed to this thread to stay up to date on any other changes to December hours and/or FP+s that are released due to the change in hours. I also value hearing how others are changing or not changing their plans due to the change in hours. Everyone is welcome to say "this stinks" or "this is great" - but can we at least TRY to keep this thread from falling into a debate over whether adding hours is good or bad?

You're right, sorry for poking the bears...just read the headline and was excited, then went and read the posts with people talking about wanting a refund on the trip for the one hour earlier opening and was floored by the rabid anger over such a little thing...still haven't quite grasped that there are so many people on a Disney World fan site that like to be mad about everything..if Disney handed them all $50 bills they would complain that they hate the color green, or that they are die-hard southerners and Disney should have known better to insult them by giving them something with U.S. Grant's portrait.

I'm thrilled. extra morning hours, extra evening hours, 99.99998% (estimated in true internet fashion...made up) of people will find this a huge benefit.

But fine...for those couple dozen people that have a pre-opening ADR that were hoping for intangibles that they are now losing, be mad, blame Disney for ruining your trip, or (as one above posts) not caring how it effects this small fraction of people, and PLEASE, go ahead and get a refund and don't go...unfortunately you are such a small number of people it won't impact the crowd levels much.

Are you sitting down? ;) I completely agree with you. :)

I think it is awful Disney rearranges times so close to people's vacations, making them scramble as far as plans go. Did the fact that super duper crowds are going to be descending on WDW a couple weeks before Christmas JUST occur to them? :confused3

Get it together, Disney.

Disney has it together.
A shoot or a nuts my schedule is a bit messed up is understandable. Wanting compensation is not.

I want to add that the park hours can change even during your trip. So always double check. I've had that happen to me more than once, so it is best to keep an eye on park hours. Disney does sometimes tweak them day of.

That was me, it was a (poor) attempt at humor.

You have made your opinion on this well known, heck at this point you could be a lobbyist for the corporation. People who enjoy the benefit of an empty Main Street are entitled brats who don't "get Disney"

A few weeks ago there was a thread on here talking about Disney losing its magic and one of the reasons why was that Push the talking garbage can no longer existed. I scoffed at that, and much like you said "If a garbage can determined your Disney Magic, that's sad" it became a heated debate about who am I to determine what creates Disney magic for other people. Upon further review I realized I was being a raging jerk in that thread. If Push (empty Main Street) was something that gave people incredible joy, I had to be a special breed of butthole to dismiss people, who loved something that I just don't get, for being upset they could no longer experience it.

I appreciate your honesty and that you're self-aware enough to change your perspective. :) :thumbsup2

Thanks JanaDee! I realized that if something brings someone happiness, that is a good thing no matter what. For the record, I realized I was being more than a "raging jerk" and "butthole" but don't want to get banned for using the words I really felt I was being :rotfl2:

I think it's totally fair to feel shafted if you based your plans on a 9 am opening.

The hour shift actually helped us - we got a FP for Belle that were otherwise gone. But other than that, I'd be pretty annoyed that everything changed after I planned around 9 am for 5 months.

Then again not everyone does rope drop etc. I doubt most people are even gonna notice.

Me a corporate lobbyist? Dem's fightn' words!!! :)

I love WDW...magic hasn't worn off...we go every 3-4 years, so the familiarity hasn't bred contempt like I see in so many others. To fill the void, we hit local Six Flags parks...and all it does it make us long for the Disney experience.

I get it, some people are disappointed...I understand those with disappointment...anger, not so much (but then, I'm not their doctor, so not going to suggest they change their dosage.)

So yes, if you are disappointed, sorry...I get that...like I said, that's how I felt to learn HM was closed for all but my last day there (after having the que line closed off to be rebuilt with all the new fun things during our last trip, preventing me from getting the great photos of the mansion I wanted)...it is the way things go. .

I'll be right there in line at RD with y'all...you will recognize us, we are the ones enjoying every moment...be easier to spot if WDW let me wear my steampunk gear...hey, maybe I should start a thread to hate on that so people stop confusing me with a corporate shill :)

I think most people are able to recognize even if something is important to them, it isn't to everyone, and something that may not be as important to them matters a great deal to someone else.

If this indicates higher crowds than previously anticipated, will Josh adjust his crowd predictions. I think it helps knowing what to expect. If it's going to be a 8's and 9's when we were expecting 4's and 5's, it would be a lot better to know ahead of time and adjust expectations accordingly.

Only on the Disboards is an extra hour of Magic such a bad thing!:goodvibes

We arrive the 12th, this is the best of all possible new-es!!!

I think you are confusing frustration with anger for most of the people that have posted here. Its an aggravation. Not something to make anyone swear off Disney (unless it just happens to be the last straw for them) or not enjoy their trip. But it is frustrating to have your plans mapped out and then WDW changes them for you.

Most of the people that have vented here will be just like you "enjoying every minute of it". Its great if you never, ever let something frustrate you, but you can't expect that of every one. People are paying big bucks for this vacation and they want it to be the way they want it--that really is normal. And I realize that you are also paying big bucks and it doesn't bother you, and that's ok to.

An extra hour in the parks isn't a bad thing and I don't think anyone was debating that. But think about it this way, if their ADR is at 8, they lose the benefit of that early morning meal AND they won't get that extra hour either.

So much for moving on...oh well, if it helps, flog that dead horse!

Personally, I debated changing our FP+'s with the extra hour, but think we will keep the 9:00-9:40 first ones on each day so we can squeeze in something else first. Was still disappointed that HM on Saturday the 20th didn't have any early FP+'s added that first hour...but then last time we were there, the bridge to Liberty Square was blocked the first hour...I don't recall if that was an EMH morning or not...is that something they do regularly or just EHM mornings?

Not sleeping in that Saturday, going to leave after lunch for a nap to be able to make it to 3 am...so, going to figure out where else to head if Liberty Square is blocked...have PP FP+ for 9 am so probably near there, DW's A&E FP+ is for late that evening, and a 7DMT before dinner...have a 4th FP+ ready to be used anytime that day (should have put 2 and 2 together when the CM on the phone said it was good from 8 am until 11 pm...at the time I still thought it opened at 9) so might just head to a kiosk to select that before it gets too long of a line.

No beating dead horses here. Just commenting on your dig at those who were upset.

Here's hoping everyone can get their plans worked back out and have a wonderful, magical trip! Don't let the change mess you up, just enjoy the extra hour, it will most likely make a great "less" crowded hour that can help you get lots done.

Just a suggestion to anyone that does have a early ADR: I wouldn't use the hour for the ADR. I would try for something later in the day and cancel the earlier one. I wouldn't use that hour for a meal and then head into the crowd for touring unless it is something that is more meaningful to your kids than the attractions you can see in that hour. If a lunch at a resort is possible, it would be a great way to leave the crowds behind for a little while and catch your breath.

I'd love to move our ADR, but it's pretty much impossible to get a CRT reso in the first place. Still, it's a party day so hopefully it won't be too insane after breakfast.

I'm sure a fair number of guests have BBB scheduled in that hour as well, and would have trouble rescheduling at this late date.
